Soft tannins, but fruit still evident and surprisingly well balanced. Cherry and spice on the finish. Much better than anticipated with little prior breathing time. Drink now.

Big wine with good balance but very few distinguishing features. Nose of stewed raspberries. Full-flavored beetroot and licorice with no secondary flavors and still quite tannic. Charcoal finish. Enjoyable but not memorable. This wine was filtered (zero sediment after seven years) and I guess the potentially interesting bits were discarded.

Aromas of dark cassis berries and toasted cedar. Lively flavors of dark cherry, toasted oak, and even a little garden herb. Dry gripping tannins with great acidity on the finish. Drinking great right now and probably for at least four more years.

A decent enough cabernet that need several hours to begin to open up. But when it does open, there is not a lot of "there" there. Some dark brambly fruit with mocha and leather. However, there is a noticeable green streak that is somewhat off-putting. Ted Seghesio has a great touch when it comes to zinfandel, but he and his team seem a bit out of their league with cabernet (although their blends are not bad). Not a cab I would seek out.

Nose of cherries and oak. Tastes of bright cherries, milk chocolate, vanilla, coffee and menthol. Medium finish with tannins that accompany flavors of vanilla and menthol.

Thus one is really coming together. Last bottle was more over the hill than this one. Softening tannins. Fruit coming around to greater complexity than before. Good stuff.

Tasted at the winery. The complex nose of menthol, pipe tobacco, currants, pine needle and black pepper also shows a bit of a loamy undercurrent. Moderate tannins, juicy acidity, a rich mouthfeel and a avg+ finish for $28. Will benefit from some more time in the bottle, but drinks well now with a moderate decant. Drink thru 2016. Again, lots of value here.

Nose of dark fruit, pine forest, a spice. Good tannin balance the oak and currant in the mouth. Nice heat in the finish. A decent cab but that's about it.

This is a Cabernet I can truly get excited about. Being an unusual release for Seghesio, I was eager to blog about this wine. Here is the link if you would like to read my full review:
An hour into this one and still a bit vegetal and light on character relative to other Seghesio offerings. Somewhat disappointing but willing to wait until this fall to pass jugment again. Not bad, just not Seghesios usual offering.

Drinking very nicely at this time. Nice deep cedar/oak pencil lead nose. Easy drinking, smooth, nice balance of fruit. Thoroughly enjoyed this wine.

Held onto it too long. Muted aromas. No real finish. Quite drinkable but nothing stands out.

Drink it up. Wouldn't wait in this one. It was good for a one time snag by Seghesio.

Very nice Cab from Seghesio, not known for Cabs. It's not a blow your mind cab but was easy to drink and very smooth.

Again not as good and full of character as the usual Seghesio wine. Still, hard to resist with steak.
