  • I have tasted several Malbecs better than this, at the same price point.

Day 1 - Average at best. Simple. Smooth. Mild. Very mild bouquet initially, then began to open up with earthy (stone), vegetable, plum, and peach - the same with taste. Did not stand up to or really accentuate spicy food (smoked spicy sausage). Moderate with smoked tri-tip - developed a minor sweet finish. Better with pungent and sweet foods (gruyere cheese, salad with carrots and feta cheese) - accentuated pungent flavors.

Day 2 - No difference. Paired with smoked spicy sausage with pasta in red Italian marinara sauce with tomatoes - wine was average with the sauce but was overwhelmed by the sausage. Not good with chocolate.

  • Had with dinner at Gumbo's. Dark purple color. A fair amount of fruit on the aroma and taste, but not much else. Pretty one dimensional without any tannins and very little finish. In other news, the redfish was great.

  • Nothing jumped out at me. Was better on the second day. Better Malbecs out there.
