Cocoa and jelly beans on the nose. Flavors are developed and a bit lean, with an acidic framework housing blue fruits, pepper, a bit of hay. Very interesting and a change of pace.

Tight on opening, this was better after sitting vacuvined for a couple of nights. A deep, spicy, oaky, brambly blackberry emerged. Ready to go but do aerate if possible.

Inky maroon. Nose is full of black fruit. Black cherry, blackberry. Tannic at first. Long, tart finish that's a bit creamy at the very end. No rush here. Still has time. Drink now-2024.

PnP. Brambly dark fruit and cedar nose. Huge robust palate of blackberry, pomegranate and a redwood note. Finish is very drying as tannins are still front and center. Should hold another 2 to 3 yeras and will likely go 5 to 7 beyond that.

With Modern Café Pot Roast, Mashed potatoes. Still dark and lively. Good nose, almost enough to call perfumed. Good body - stood up to the food easily. I think this one is close to its peak.

Nose of dried cherries, chalk, cedar, tea and thyme. Layers of flavor with tobacco, leather, mint, blackberry. Very earthy with lots of depth. Best Petite Sirah I have had to date. Double decanted, opened beautifully, perfectly aged.

Notes made after 3 days open for this bottle. Very dark purple, slow stained legs - as it should be. Beautiful perfume on the nose, but oxidation is bringing out some stewed prune, giving the impression of a much older wine (which is fine with me). Very round feel to the palate with concentrated dark berry jam, mocha, tobacco, and spice. I get a bit of sweet cinnamon in the bouquet, which if it develops more, would be a bonus. Tannins are still tart and grippy but that might never change. Medium length finish. 5+11+16+8 = 89

Decanted for half an hour. Nose and flavors were dark and somewhat restrained. I didn’t get a lot of fruit coming out of this one. Tannins have softened nicely so the structure and mouth-feel were nicely balanced, just kind of flat for me.

Tight and tannic when opened, but an hour in a decanter and it's opening quite nicely. Licorice, tar, burnt oak, dark fruits and some floral notes on the nose. Bitter chocolate, dark berries, vanilla, with a good belt of stiff tannins on the back end, but going down easy after a long work week. It might not last long enough to hit full stride.

This is a great Petite Sirah from Ridge very happy. This wine is a little young- but good fruit and complex wine-very drinkable. I'm glad I have another bottle- will need to wait at least 3-5 years at minimum. We ended up drink 1/2 a glass each Friday night and finished the bottle on Saturday. Saturday the wine really shined- but still need some aging in the bottle.

Solid wine. Firm tannins. A kind of dusty element. Fairly typical for Petite Sirah.

Acidic with definite olive tones. Went well with chicken Harissa with potatoes, olives, and garbanzo beans.
