Medium bodied, with an earthy, forest character, the wine is close to fully developed, offering, bright red fruits, cigar wrapper and spice, but it is on the lighter side.

45% cabernet sauvignon, 45% merlot,10% cabernet franc. 9 months on lees. Dark ruby violet colour, clean. Rich and confident nose of black fruits and forest freshness, smoke, resin. Medium plus body, full palate, sweet ripe fruits with cassis and black cherries, black tea bitterness, dry tannins. Long dry finish. Good concentration and energy with enough stuffing for at least 5 more years.

Classic claret nose and palate with some polished blackcurrant fruit and tobacco, but never showy or glossy. Very traditional, minerality adds finesse, quite medium bodied with silky tannins and a real floral lift towards the middle palate. I've had quite a few 08s that have surpassed my expectations. This will continue to improve.

Appearance: Bright and clear, deep intensity ruby in color, with legs. Nose: Clean, with medium intensity of black fruit such as blackberry, blackcurrant and plum, oak notes of vanilla and cedar, herbal notes of black tea, maturity notes of soy sauce. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry, with medium (+) acidity, high tannin of ripe but quite gripping on texture, the wine has a medium alcohol and a medium (+) body, with medium intensity of black fruit such as blackberry and black cherry, oak notes of cedar. The wine has a medium (-) finish. Conclusion: Good quality Pessac-Leognan with reasonable concentration on the nose, but a bit simple, the wine has a good acidity but the tannin is overwhelming and gripping, requiring more time to mellow. With fair intensity on flavor, the palate however is also relatively simple and having a fairly short finish. The wine is barely ready to drink now, and can benefit from further ageing of another 3-5 years.

Bordeaux 2008 (Bordeaux): Good fruit driven nose with hints of oak derived toast. Palate is cohesive, shows good energy. Despite a slightly drying finish, this is rather enjoyable. 90-92
