Vosne-Romanee: Grand Crus and Top 1er Crus (La Bracceria, Greendale Avenue): I had quite forgotten tasting this wine before. Excellent six months ago, I thought it was even better this time round - in fact, it was quite unanimously the wine of the night. It had a lovely nose, just amazing, with layers of damp forest floor, perfumed flowers, sweet wood spice and fragrant bursts of dark cherries and berries. Wow. The palate was at a lovely place too, and performing far better than one would expect from a 2000. It was absolutely delicious, with sweet, sappy dark cherries just melting across the palate, all wrapped in a robe of velvety tannins and bright acidity. Beautiful depth across the midpalate as well, just perhaps petering away a bit at the finish, where the pure fruit tones were kissed wood spice and dried flower accents. I would never have guessed this was a 2000 given its lovely definition and graceful poise. It was really yummy, almost chirpy in its bright expressiveness, and quite at a perfect place for drinking now. Lovely.

Post-Dinner Cellar Raid with Ludovic Belin and Vincent Rapet (Extra Space, Singapore): Boy, this was excellent. It had a beautiful Vosne-like nose, with deep draws of black cherries and some red date nuances, drifts of earth, toast and wood spice - very deep, masculine aromas, but really nice. This just drew you in. The palate was lovely too. Surprisingly fresh and bright for a 2000, it had a good amount of acidity behind a darkly lush, velvety mouthful of blackberries and black cherries layered over a deep, earthy background before the wine opened up into a more lifted, wood-spice saesoned finish. This wine had lovely Grand Cru depth wed to a very nicely balanced feel that made it a really delicious drink. This has started putting firm footsteps onto its peak drinking period, but it should continue improving for some years yet. At the moment, it is at the cusp of becoming a really beautiful wine.

Exotic, powerful and spicy aromas. The most ready of all the reds on this night. The midpalate could not compare with the nose and I found it fell off at the finish but a lovely example of this approachable vintage and the best bouquet of the night.

Delicious terrior nose clearly a step way up from the domestic crowd. Easy drinker, light intoxicating style. Driven cherry nose ridden with fruit. Not overtly ripe like the domestics. Very well balanced. yumm.

Great intensity, in a good spot, held up well to Braised Lamb Osso Bucco, Pommard Dijon Jus, Parsnip Puree and Parisienne Potatoes. WOTN.

Not as complex as th 1999. Better as it opens up in the glass.

Tasted a day after opening. Some age evident - earth with some orange peel and dark fruit. Structured, dusty tannic feel. Enjoyable.
