  • This was quite a treat. I bought this bottle via online auction because it was listed as a 1979 (my birth year) and for $21, I figured I would take a flyer on it, even though it had a stained label and a corroded capsule. When they shipped me a 1976, I decided to pop it this weekend with some New Mexican food. Light brick red with orange-brown edge. Incredible nose of earthy aromas, mushrooms and cured meats. Amazing fruit still remains, mostly cherries. After an hour or so, spice notes, a bit of tobacco and chocolate emerged. About a 30-second finish. This was a delightful mature Zin that took on almost an aged Bordeaux quality. Little surprises like this are what makes wine enthusiasm so much fun.

  • 13.8 alcohol. When was the last time you saw a zin like that. Absolutely fantastic bottle. Decanted. Great nose, great color, great taste. Still have one more bottle wish I had more. Can't believe i paid $6.25/bottle and got a case discount to boot when I bought this in the 70's
