This was quite a treat. I bought this bottle via online auction because it was listed as a 1979 (my birth year) and for $21, I figured I would take a flyer on it, even though it had a stained label and a corroded capsule. When they shipped me a 1976, I decided to pop it this weekend with some New Mexican food. Light brick red with orange-brown edge. Incredible nose of earthy aromas, mushrooms and cured meats. Amazing fruit still remains, mostly cherries. After an hour or so, spice notes, a bit of tobacco and chocolate emerged. About a 30-second finish. This was a delightful mature Zin that took on almost an aged Bordeaux quality. Little surprises like this are what makes wine enthusiasm so much fun.

13.8 alcohol. When was the last time you saw a zin like that. Absolutely fantastic bottle. Decanted. Great nose, great color, great taste. Still have one more bottle wish I had more. Can't believe i paid $6.25/bottle and got a case discount to boot when I bought this in the 70's
