The wine was medium yellow-golden in colour and offered citrus, yellow fruit, lemon grass, some honey and signs of bottle age on the nose. On the palate the semi-sweet wine was peachy on the attack, then became citrusy and slightly mineral, joined by lemon grass, honey and mild green tea flavours, with mid-plus body, piercing acidity and good length. The wine was a little sweeter than expected (as to be expected from the 8.5% ABV), and I would put this between a typical Kabinett and a Spätlese. A decent, reasonably balanced if not the most complex Kabinett.

Very good. Lime peel lemongrass and spearmint nose; round mouthfeel, racy acidity, ripe pear, citrus peel and slate. A little sweet for a kab but acidity and minerals balance it out very well. Long minerally finish.

Nez de menthe, agrumes et herbes fraîches. Beaucoup de rondeur en bouche. Une texture intéressante, presque huileuse mais sans lourdeur car l'acidité est bien présente et contribue à une finale longue, fraîche et minérale. Délicieux.

My overwhelming impression from this wine is that it is very sweet and heavy for a Kabinett?! Tasted blind, I would have sworn this was a Spatlese. Nice acidity here that keeps it fresh and lively on its feet. The fruit leans more towards the sweet Mosel fruits than the typically leaner Nahe fruits. I did get a slight sniff of sulfur when it was first opened but it blew off within a few minutes of air time.

This is still really young and not showing much on the nose. Minerals, slate and some apricots on the palate. Also some lemon and lime - sort of like a Sprite but in a good way. Nice acidity and sweetness kept in check. Great wine and QPR.

Had with appetizers and cheese. Way sweeter than I would have expected, but yet balanced with crisp acidity. Maybe some asian spice or something adds a bit more complexity. Nice fruit and even some minerality. Nice mouthfeel, a good bottle. Would buy again

Dinner AC and gang -- Fresh and bright nose of frozen lime and white flowers. Sweet on the palate for sure, and I am not crazy about that, but good acidity and minerality to balance. Plus, with a zesty heirlom tomato and sea salt dish it is a dream combo.

2008 Terry Theise Kabinetts (Vin Vino, Palo Alto): Spicy like an Urziger Wurzgarten. Glossy feel, mouthfilling, long, but this is all closed by a tight finish that is distinctively salty. Fascinating wine that evolves and improves with warming and aeration.

Herr Doennhoff bought this land to create a gutsriesling, but the wine is just too damn good for that. The dirt is pebbles and quartz. Ths tastes like fresh squeezed essence of Riesling. Cooler fruit profile than others in the lineup, with a very fine balance of acid and fruit. 92pts.

The man, the myth, the Legend. Tasting with Helmut Doennhoff. (Weingut Doennhoff): Good wine. Tropical fruit profile, and good acidity. Has less minerality than one may expect, but Helmut Doennhoff said right away that the Kreuznach sites tend to show fuller, riper, and more accessible than the other sites because they are planted on quarzit and gravel soils.

Excellent. Pears, quince, honey, good whiff of petrol. Just harmonious and delightful. Went great with all the fried Hannukah stuff.

Belle évolution sur des notes mentholées et d'herbes. Il a gagné en définition et complexité.

Pear on the nose. Some saltiness on the initial and mid-palate finishing with nice minerality. Well-balanced acidity. Great wine.

Well-made and intense wine. Sweet, but matched with a high 2008 acidity. Lots of mineral in the nose.
