  • Deep golden. Nose mostly a honey-type note. Good (slightly too prominent) acidity and mouthfeel. Not much fruit left. Maybe a hint of apples. A touch perhaps of lemons. It is quite honied. Some spice from the oak still evident. Medium length. I did enjoy this, at this age. Well made.

  • Golden yellow in color, the nose offers orange, honey and light, citrus notes. Fully mature, the fruit is starting to fade, still, you find enough, sweet, yellow fruits and tart apple to keep you busy.

  • UK Wine Forum 2004 Bordeaux (Piccolino, Exchange Square, London): Lovely bright medium gold. Nose is fresh with grassy notes and grapefruit to the fore, spice too. Medium full bodied with attractive weight and nice contrasting fresh acidity carrying a good/very good length finish. ****

  • Colour is golden. Nose is dead, with a stir there’s some mushroom and petrol. The palate has quite a lush, oily texture with limes, pineapple and lemon zest on the finish. Really past it’s best but drinkable nonetheless.

  • 3/4. Medium gold - quite advanced. Exotic nose - tropical fruit, butter, rich but fresh. Medium/full bodied, attractively weighted, ripe tropical fruits, vibrant acids, light oxidative edge, touch of honey on the creamy, persistent, fresh finish. Drinking now and for the next couple of years maybe.

  • Colour quite advanced - bright. medium gold. Nose shows pineapple, spice, touch of grassiness, orange blossom. Quite exotic. Medium bodied, some nice oily breadth, fresh pineapple fruit, touch of grassiness again, spice, lovely crisp acidity, long, lightly orangey finish, herbal hints. Excellent, drinking well.

  • Tasted blind. Pale gold colour, sweet grapefruit and with classic Sauvignon Blanc aromas, lemon and zingy, wrapped in well integrated oak. The palate is quite oily and buttery, with green mint leafy and zingy flavours. Lovely balance.

  • Light gold. Pungent, nettly, cats piss and vegetal. The palate has richness, oaky texture, pineapple, pink grapefruit, lime fruit topped with single cream. Utterly delicious and a wine to savour.

  • I loved this wine. Nose is flowery, pineapple and creamy. The wine in the mouth is soft, rich, voluptuous with pineapple, citrus fruits and very long lingering finish. This is delicious, reminding me of a Smith Haut Lafitte but about half the price.

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, it has medium intensity gold color, with legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas showing ripe green fruit of custard apple and gooseberry, mineral notes of waxy and lanolin, floral notes of nectarine, dairy notes of butter, maturity notes of honey. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium alcohol, with medium (+) body and medium (+) intensity flavors of green fruit of ripe pear and gooseberry, maturity notes of honey, dairy notes of cream, herbaceous notes of straw. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Good quality Pessac-Leognan showing a typical Bordeaux white style, with fairly intense nose showing good complexity, the wine has good acidity and structure, with a freshness of fruit balancing well with oak and other development characters, having good concentration and a reasonable length on the finish. The wine is ready to drink now though can benefit from further ageing of another 2-3 years.

  • Deep and intense golden yellow color, borderline dessert wine appearance. The nose is quite light and reticent with rather pronounced sweet, caramel oak, some toffee, a little bit of crème à la vanille and a hint of dried yellow stone fruits. The wine is medium-bodied and bone-dry on the palate with very pronounced, racy acidity. There are flavors of creamy oak, lemony citrus fruits, some tart gooseberry character, a little bit of sweet oak spice and a hint of pineapple. The wine is really bright and sharp on the palate. The finish is quite long and a bit warm with acid-driven flavors of green apples, lemony citrus fruits, moderately pronounced sweet oak spice, a little bit of vanilla and a hint of caramel.

A bright, structured and complex white Graves that shows nice intensity, but lack of balance - the light body of the wine and its racy, acid-driven flavors really don't match the sweet, creamy oak character at all. I think the wine would've performed either way, as a more ripe and rich wine with equally pronounced oak character or then a light-bodied and acid-driven white wine with a lot less oak character. Now the wine feels like it tries to be two wines at once, but performing rather indifferently at both. I doubt that further cellaring will help the wine much. This is decent stuff at best, failed to convince me.

  • Very rich nose, oak is evident with the SB surprisingly well balanced. Semillon fruit with tropical fruits gives extra dimendion. Taste is medium++, with great balance and good acidity. Oak is a bit to evident here as well, but with food and/or time that is likely to balance down. Good white bordeaux!

  • Flinty and earthy nose, with a bit of stink. On the palate, medium-gold in color, decent typicity but nothing great. 86-87
