The Napa County designation consists of fruit sourced from several York Creek Ranch vineyards on Spring Mountain, with about a third of the fruit coming from the Spring House vineyard. This is obviously in the tertiary stage of its evolution but it is still drinking splendidly. The pungent, dark cherry, blackberry, firewood, and licorice bouquet is accented by earthy tones of fresh herbs, tobacco, and forest floor. It’s expansive, resolved, a touch savory, but retains bright cherry flavors and an elegant structure that has yet to fade. Fallen leaves grace the spicy finish.

Sat up for a week in the cellar. Decanted for about 20 mins and it needed a little more time to my surprise being 34 years old. The cork came out in one piece. Drank well, good fruit and enough structure to be interesting. If you have any of this, it's still good.

Drank really well. Held up nice for a 34 y/o wine whose label says would keep for 5 years. I think the York Creek hold up best over long terms. Nice red color with great fruit still on the bouquet. Enjoyed every drop!

From 375ml, cork came out still spongy and in one piece but saturated half way up. After a small taste the bottle was left to slow-ox for thirty minutes while we enjoyed appetizers. Color in the glass was a beautiful, translucent crimson red. Very pretty, yet somewhat musky nose of cigar wrappers, old leather, mushrooms and red fruits. Tannin is completely resolved, giving way to a silky mouthfeel that remains taught with plenty of acidity. The palate is nuanced and harmonious with pencil led, red fruits, mushrooms, coffee grounds and a touch of woody cedar notes on the medium finish. With more air, the wine seemed to turn the volume up on all levels – darkening slightly in the glass, with stunning aromatics and deeper red fruits. Amazing showing out of 375 at age 29. Perhaps at peak, but in no danger of going over the hill, especially in 750 or Mag.

York Creek Vineyard (Los Altos): 13.4% ALC, 92% Cabernet, 6% Merlot, 2% Cab Franc - Old moldy cellar initially showing some acidity on the nose like tomato sauce. The palate was strong in acidity as well and tasted as though the fruit was lost though a strainer.
