From 750ml. Pretty disappointed with this showing. Might be bottle variation as this bottle was procured from the secondary market. That said, if you are sitting on some in the cellar it might be time open a bottle and make a determination for yourself. To my taste it is time to drink up.

has hit a nice drinking window cherries/dark fruit and mild spices with a nice earthy backbone others liked the 2005 lascombes better, but what do they know?

Complex nose of ried flowers, rose petal, red berries, and burnt orange peel. Tart cherries with lingering acidity on the palate. Tannins are soft but extremely drying and present. Good finish. Needs some time to integrate the tannins, right now they are too dominant to fully enjoy the wine by itself (may be better with food, though). 92-93+

This was allowed to stand open for four hours, and a few glasses worth were kept overnight. On opening, classic roses and a bit of eucalyptus on the nose. On the palate, this showed roses, raspberries, currants, and a bit of earthiness, with strong tannins and good acidity on the medium finish, but it seemed closed down, with somewhat muted fruit. On the second day this had gained noticeably in intensity, with powerful red fruit, the tannins more in evidence, and a longer finish. This is drinkable enough as it is, but it needs ten years or more to reach its peak.

11/11/14 @ Acquerello San Francisco: Color was on the more concentrated end of the Barolo spectrum, with a plush red core. A warmer year, and a more modern producer, but this bottling had good acid and saw no new oak. Out of the bottle it was muted and short, but after 40 minutes the nose really opened up, into herbaceous and floral territory. Loved the plusher aromas of rosewater and forest floor, moving into riper red fruit territory as the wine gained air.
All in all, this is a traditionally styled bottling from a more modern producer; lots of structure and savory notes with no new oak, but still with plenty of riper fruits to make it more accessible.

First impression (poured a glass with a Coravin...waited only five minutes to taste) Nice flowers and herbs on the nose. Zesty Fruit and very forward tannins in the mouth.Beautiful rich red color. I agree with a previous comment that it is being held together by the tannin right now...interesting to see how it will evolve.

Not a stellar wine. This is has a lot of dimensions and not enough depth for a $80 wine. Excellent dried spices and floral notes on the nose. In mouth it starts with ripe plums and firm tannins with burnt toast. All these things are interesting but none of the notes has any depth. It seems like tannin is holding this wine hostage but I am not sure what will come out when it mellows. Just not enough here to give me much hope.

Floral notes with liquorice and high toned red fruit. Turned to a very green waxy nose with an acetone edge. Silky moutfeel, good acid, lots of cherry and slightly darker fruit, but felt incomplete without any secondary flavors. Not jammy and overripe though. Definitely showing some heat. More time? I remember a bit more leather and funk, which I loved on a previous tasting.

Brilliant wines on a cold Wellington Night (Normandale, Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand): Really gorgeous wine drunk in youth. The exotic and fragrant nose offers up wonderful panforte aromas, redolent of cocoa, dried orange peel, tar and vanilla. Gorgeous red fruit and dried rose petal aromas complete the picture. The nose is spectacular at the moment and I hope that in maturity, this wine still has echos of these exotic aromas. In the mouth, the wine is clearly not close to maturity - it has classic Barolo tannic grip, tar and some red fruit and mineral notes, leading to an involving finish. Wonderful wine that will age to grace.

Red fruits, leather and mushrooms. Wide ruby rim indicated some age, but had great balance. Just lovely, one of my favorites of the extravaganza. I'm sure it will get better with another few years.

taste: very high acidity that does thrash the palate a bit with high tannins. What tones poke through are very nice with red cherries, herbs and some wild flowers
overall: certainly needs time. The acidity and tannins are a bit overbearing, but the nose is very pretty right now. Time should calm this all down and should reveal a real pretty barolo that should be a real pleasure to drink

undoubtedly a well made wine - a big wine with a substantial tannic floor, I find it difficult to assess where it will go from here

Very nice, semi-mature Barolo. Delicate and aromatic. A little low on the fruit, wouldn’t wait too long.

San Diego WineSpectator.com Offline al tartufo, 1/18/2020 (Solare Restaurant, Liberty Station, Point Loma, San Diego CA): Clear dark ruby-garnet red color. Glorious bouquet of pomegranates, cherries, blackberries, leather, mocha, dark baking spices, stony soil. Similar on the palate, full body, seamless, beautiful balance, polished tannins, lingering finish. At prime now with a decant, with decades of potential. My #2.

Nice. Mostly tar and leather and dark fruits. Tannins surprisingly integrated, but still quite present. Holds onto the finish well.

raspberry being predominant, with hints of tar, and the usual barolo complexity, this was nice with food, though on its own seemed somewhat astringent
