Clean, with dark red fruit, dense spice and varied soil tones. Hadd all required elements, although a standout on any one of them. Suffered somewhat from the comparison to an exceptional bottle of '64

Father’s Day 2020. Bouquet leapt right out of the bottle and then filled the room from the decanter! Mature dusty red/orange colour. Spicy vosne on the nose, bright red fruit, slightly sweetness as well. Perfectly balanced on the palate, acid, fruit tannins...for a 54 year old wine with low ullage! Kept going all evening till the last drop - Profound bottle that ranks up there with the 71 La Tache and 61 La Mission!

La Paulée Chevalier Fête (Saison - San Francisco CA): There were two bottles tonight, one was dead, this bottle was glorious, even with 5 cm ullage. Mature black and red cherry with very good+ depth, concentration and length. Slightly sweet spice with earth notes on finish. Others also enjoyed, but I probably liked this more than most.

Fruit is starting to fade but enough remains to provide a sufficient foil to dull clove and dry dark earth notes. Finish beginning to dry. Very nice. 93-94

Mostly DRC lazy Sunday lunch (Eddie V's - Tysons Corner, VA): Fully mature color, orange/bricking. Fully mature nose displaying decadent red fruit, slightly dry cherry, a hint of strawberry and rhubarb tart, strong sous bois, licorice, Asian spices and caramel. Excellent concentration, fully resolved palate, good acidity, strong earth/mineral and a long sweet caramel and dry cherry driven finish. Drinking nicely with mostly tertiary notes, no need to wait.

Pristine condition, very round bouquet of nose, rich, powerful, opened up slowly, still good to lay down for longer. Hint of chiu-chow sweet n sour pickles. It faded a little towards the end.

From a nice looking bottle with 3 cm ullage, this wine had an orange/red center and orange rims. The cork was properly branded. The high intensity nose showed roses, violets, black cherries, and soil.
While great from the start, this showed its best after 3 hours of decanter time. In the mouth, this wine danced over your tongue imparting powerful flavors, as noted above, without any weight. The tannins were totally resolved, the acidity firm, and the length tremendous.
This wine is in the zone and it was easy for anyone to appreciate its virtues. I see no reason to wait (if one could resist). Outstanding!

This is a special wine - a simply dreamy nose, the attack has ample complexity, depth and purity. A real classic.

Every so slightly impacted by something, likely bacterial, that interfered with the expression of the wine. Beautiful color though to this bottle.

can't rate this as it was probably slightly corked - tasted marvelous but the nose did not pass.

Good initial nose and surprising complexity on the palate. But this bottle began to brown after 45 minutes and was a drink now. 93-94-

Completely gone. Alas! It smelled like glue. The next morning this was gone, the wine smelled caramelized.
