  • Purtroppo l’ultima bottiglia di tre, tutte in crescendo. Aperta due ore prima di servirla, cosa che non impedisce al naso di essere inizialmente chiuso e schivo. Sboccia piano piano, ma mantenendo sempre un tratto austero. Frutti rossi, amarena, elicriso e sentori di boscaglia mediterranea, tabacco e echi tostati. Un naso che, una volta ossigenato adeguatamente esprime una maturità sobria ed elegante. Al palato resta molto energico e bevibile, con struttura ampia, tannini precisi ma non taglienti, e una freschezza invitante. Il finale è di ottima persistenza, e ne riflette tutta l’eleganza

  • Decanted for one hour but probably needed more time. Excellent pairing with home made tagliolini and truffle butter. Tobacco and ripe cherry, soft tannin, long in your mouth.

  • Naso sempre austero ed elegante, ma decisamente più disponibile della precedente bottiglia. Aperto circa 1,5 ore prima del servizio. Granato intenso, note fruttate di amarena e di frutti di bosco, interlacciati a sentori di cuoio e ad una mineralitá polverosa, toni appena tostati e di macchia in sottofondo. Bocca nervosa, con tannini ben scolpiti ma morbidi. Freschezza che facilita la beva e sostiene una struttura ed un estratto notevole, creando un buon equilibrio. Conclude persistente ed elegante.

  • Double decanted. Required 3 h to open up when it became outstanding. Dark colour, dark multi layered fruits, soft tannins, balanced acidity and a long finish.

  • Medium garnet. Discrete nose of leather, dried fruit, cake and sweet spices. Very good fruit core on the palate with soft tannins providing structure. All in place for a balanced and complex Sangiovese.

  • At the beginning very close and reduced. it took a while to open up. Nose of dark berries, black cherry under spirit, violet, tobacco, leather, spices, cinnamon, thyme. At palate drying tannins with nice acidity. Long finish. Very Tuscan wine.

  • Young and requires decanting but even that doesn't iron out the harshness in full which unfortunately is dry tannin from the oak.The nose is very cabernet like, with spice, leather, dark fruit, light floral. The oak is present too. On the palate, away from the dry tannin on the finish, the wine is pretty solid, good density, good ripe fruit and texture. The good news here is that the wine is not overdone to the 11. The extraction and oak are there but so is the purity and texture of fruit. Very super tuscan yes, very overdone no. 90 and hope that age will impove this.

  • Dark berries, coffee, tomatoes, garlic and wet forrest floor. Smooth and very pleasing. This is a satisfying somewhat complex pleaser. Not bad.

  • 2004 Castellare di Castellina I Sodi di San Niccolò Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT (Italië, Toscane, Toscana IGT) Kleur: Diep opaque donkerrood Aroma / bouquet: Expressief, super-gebrand, enorme dosis bittere chocola en mokka, vleugje medicinaal, laurier, ook wat rozijntjes… Smaak / Afdronk: Krachtig, dik-sappig, veel concentratie, boordevol tannines maar wel mooi rijp, nadrukkelijke bittertoon, enorme lengte. Algemeen / potentieel: Anabolenwijn, erg gerijpt, 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 15 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 89/100
