  • I brought this bottle sometime ago and just assumed that it would be oxidized but I opened it up recently and it had a wonderful body/mouth feel. It was slightly sweet but every component was in synch and in harmony. The sweetness was like that of raisins sweetness but without the raisins taste. But still not very sweet, I had it with a thick pea soup with some bits of ham in init and it seemed a perfect partner to the pea soups.

I assume since it had Bollenberg name on the bottle that it was a higher cuvee and perhaps sweeter Gewurztraminer than a bottle that would just say Lucien Albrecht Gewurztraminer. It was a very nice experience. I tried to go to the wine maker's website but they have gone out of business or bankrupt.

If you see any other Lucien Albrecht wines, take a chance, particularly, if they are from a higher level cuvee if you can tell. Gold is where you find it and this was gold in the glass.

  • WIML80-
    Alsace, France
13% alcohol by volume. Purchased locally at Sigels for $17.99 a bottle. Opened and served without decanting in Spiegelau WeissWein glasses. Clear light to medium yellow color. Floral nose of orange blossoms, rose petals and potpourri. Flavors of orange, kiwi, lychee with some mild honey. Just a small bite of spiciness on the finish. Started off as a decent quaffer but that didn’t hold. I would have given it 85- WIML points the first hour but it dropped off real fast after that. I wouldn’t give it 80- WIML points at an hour and a half. Drink yesterday.
