  • The fruit is a bit sweet - red currant/cherry. Smooth mouthfeel with nice oak adding secondary flavors. Completely integrated medium acid/tannins. I would drink sooner rather than later but no huge rush.

  • Decent wine. Red/black cherry with a creamy texture and notes of bittersweet chocolate, dried herbs, oak, and subtle licorice and leather. Nice acidity, smooth tannins, long finish.

  • Now almost two years since I drank my previous bottle. Still youthful - same deep ruby color as before. Not modest on the nose - black fruit balanced with the classic secondary oak aromas. These follow through on the palate. Full silky smooth body, medium acidity and integrated medium tannins. I love this wine. Sadly, my last bottle (of this vintage). Outstanding.

  • Sheila's (waitinginmanassas) summary is spot on. On pop and pour, the aroma leaps from the bottle. Decanted for an hour but ready to go even earlier. Cassis, red fruit and some spice in a lush, deep package that screams Napa Cab.

  • From the wonderfully aromatic nose, to the velvety feel, to the perfectly integrated taste, this wine was wonderful. It was a perfect wine to celebrate the 12th anniversary of very good friends. I'm sorry I'm down to only one bottle left in my cellar.

  • Drank for our 4th wedding anniversary. Absolutely gorgeous. The nose explodes from the decanter with a very pure CS smell. Red fruits, some tertiary aromas, no green bell peppers or other green notes. The palate is red fruits, beautiful acidity and structure, nothing overpowering and everything perfectly resolved. This was flat-out amazing. No signs of slowing down, but I see zero reason to wait. I can't imagine this drinking better for my palate than it is now. I wish I had another bottle.

  • It's been 2 years since I had my first bottle. With the additional time in the cellar, this wine has really developed into something special. Color is a deep ruby with very narrow rim. Aromas of black cherry, liquorice, leather, tobacco and coffee waft out of the glass. These flavors are joined by a touch of oak on the palate. Full body with a silky mouth feel, medium acidity, integrated medium tannins and a long finish. It reminds me of a Pichon-Longueville Baron. Outstanding.

  • The wine is a fairly deep ruby red color, a touch lighter at the edge. The outstanding and very appealing nose has cassis, dried herbs, tobacco, melted licorice, minerals, warm baking spices, dark bittersweet chocolate, cedar, and a hint of eucalyptus. This has medium to full body, fairly solid tannins, and very nice acidity. The palate is rich and plush with spice and cassis stealing the show initially, as slowly building dried herbs, minerals, and toasty oak come in on the back end. The finish is very long and full of fruit and spice. This is still on the young side and will greatly reward some additional cellar time.

  • Decanted about 1 hour.. Youthful, inviting nose of ripe dark berries, some baking spices and vanilla. Dark fruit, black cherry, black currant on the palate. Still very youthful, with lots of up front fruit along with some spice and toasty vanilla oak, but done in moderation. Paired very well with a NY Strip. This has plenty of life to go, and would like to try again in 3-5 years... sadly my only bottle though.

  • I love this wine! Nose of bright red fruits with a hint of vanilla and baking spice. Delicious smooth flavor of bright red fruits with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a little licorice. Perfect balance with a long, beautiful, smooth finish. Seriously wish I had much more of this.

  • The wine is a fairly deep ruby red color. The absolutely stunning nose has cassis, melted licorice, dried herbs, cedar, wild flowers, tobacco, and warm baking spices. This has medium body, fairly solid silky tannins, and very nice acidity. This is rich and plush on the palate with cassis and baking spices up front with dried herbs and spicy oak coming in on the back end. The finish is very long, seeming to never totally disappear and full of rich fruit and spice. This has the balance to age gracefully for several years but it is absolutely irresistible today.

  • I was put off by the ripe and alcoholic nose, but it had me with the palate. Cherries and cedar with soft tannins that draw you in. Acidity keeps it all in balance. Lengthy finish. - perfect with our Wagyu burgers.

  • Opened 2 hours previous to note. Nose of red currant with hints of cherries & dried wood.. Palate has a somewhat sweet & creamy texture with red black fruits in control. Initially there is a boozy quality that dissipates quickly. I now find some cedar, boysenberry and graphite. Nice balance and decent structure. Tannins seem youthful. Long finish keep the fruits in play.

  • Really enjoyed this, and drinking really well right now. Big, bold full bodied Cabernet. Good fruit, touch of oak throughout, with nice tannic structure.

  • OUTSTANDING!
Lots of finesse in this bottle of wine. Rich, creamy layers of vanilla, currant, dark berries with hints of oak, espresso and spices. Full-bodied that really coats the palate from beginning to end. Finish is long and leaves you wanting more.

  • Decanted for 1.5 hours. Wow after having the 74-41 (which I liked) this was a totaly different wine. More fruit on the nose and in the mouth. It goes to the edge of the more modern fuit forward cabs with out going over. Great wine made by even better people.

  • Nice bright red color. Initail nose of earth with a musty alcohol note with a very slight hidden note of berries. Good weight, smooth with just a hint of berry hidden underneath a rather bland palate. Finished with grainy tannins. After 2 hours the earthy-musty nose was gone but no real improvement in the palate.

  • A progress check (decanted 2.5 hours). Very good weight, structure and acidity. Dark fruit on the nose with layering of sweet vanilla. Velvety mouth with dark cherry, cassis and plum notes and a nice mocha thread in the mid-palate. Underlying tannins are nicely integrated.
