This is holding up damn well for going on a decade. There's a thin brick rim, but no age shows up on the palate. Strawberries and leather on the nose. More fresh strawberries, cherry, cloves, cinnamon, and licorice for flavors. Long, delicate finish -- rides out almost like pinot. Since following the drunken cyclist a while back, I've aged more zin. Glad for it tonight.
A nice surprise for the price. Poured through a Nuance. Aromatic, fruity nose, lots of cherry and berry fruit, smooth finish. Delicious with our without food. If you'd told me this bottle cost $25 I wouldn't have been surprised. Great QPR. I wish I would have bought more on that deal...fourteen bucks and free shipping.
Brought this to a BBQ and it really shined. Several people remarked that it was the best wine they'd had in a while. There is a little heat there, but it has all of the bold fruit flavors and rich, velvety mouth feel to balance that alcohol out.
Beautiful berry notes leading to wonderful jam and fruit. Not over powering, but not weak at all. The perfect blend of both types of essence. Enjoy aromas of spice, blackberry with wild berries and pepper flavors.
Pop and pour: nose has more barnyard than I would ever expect from a zin. moderate tannins. kind of an onion/tomato vibe on the flavor (certainly not big fruit). not a huge fan right now, maybe needs some time or serious decanting.
Fantastic zin. I tend to like a little heat, especially on a zin with this much fruit and spice. The nose is very big and has lots of darker fruits. The mouth fills out really quickly and the finish is pretty long. Really enjoyed this.
A bit hot on first approach, it really began to open up and show lots of jammy fruit after an hour or so open. The color is much lighter than I was expecting. The tannins are well integrated and give this wine tremendous balance considering it's young age.
I kept the rest of the bottle corked in the fridge overnight. It's ri-donk-ulously better. The initial heat is gone. All I taste is beautiful raspberry & cherry fruit. The tannins only serve to extend the finish and contribute to what is a very balanced delicious wine.
