Sweet Grenache, warm cherry fruit, Christmas Spices. Holding up well given the warm vintage, the fruit is still vibrant. Time to drink up, no reason to hold any further and make sure to drink appropriately chilled.

Somewhat tired and pruny; not gone at all, just lacking freshness and comes out as a very typical 2003 with to much heat. Still, some people will love the Christmas-like sweetness here, I do not.

Cork came out well and despite a lot of sediment the bottle tasted great. Turbid and cloudy the wine was clearly aged however it still retained the fruit although the tannin and acidity were light. Was pleased that this bottle was drinkable and quite delicious.

Thanksgiving Weekend (Lancaster, PA): A bit roasted nose, fig paste, baked plums, soot, anise cookie. Full and chewy, still plenty of fruit (fig, roasted plums, black currant) on a frame of dusty tannins. Low acid, of course, but still very pleasant on the palate. Secondary notes of anise, leather, smoke and campfire add complexity. Drinking very well, could age further, but if I had a few more bottles, I’d taste one a year.

Needs an hour plus to open. Starts brown and then turns a cloudy claret. Still fruity, long legs, sustained finish that has some tar on it. It's still a pleasure to drink.

I may be the last to drink this vintage but it is still super. Maybe lost a bit of its nuance but full of fruit and energy and a perfect accompaniment to our spicy Duck Au Vin!

Very open and predominantly red fruit nose with a touch of wet stone. A fairly concentrated yet elegant palate with bright red cherry and a decent acidity despite the vintage.

A little disjointed at first but came together after an hour or so. Liquorice and herbs dominating with the fruit fading to give tobacco leaf on the finish. No real hurry to finish these up.

Warm and friendly but just maybe a bit tired. What do I mean? It had neither the up front fruit of a younger wine nor the integrated complexity of an older wine (but maybe it did a year ago) . Still v pleasant but my advice now (March 14) would be to start to drink up.

Beautiful CDP. Nice blend of tastes and well aged. I don't think this will last too many more months, so if you have some, drink soon and enjoy a well aged, well balanced CDP. Wonderful red fruits, graphite, minerality.

Really enjoyed this. Tasting fabulous. All the classic C du pale tastes but beautifully integrated. Rich and full. Needed about 30 minutes to open so i'd decant (we didnt) if you have bottles right now. Enjoy! We drank with Guinea Fowl and a red wine and cherry jus.

Surprisingly delicious. Very smooth, tannins perfectly integrated with the fruit, earth and grass. Must be drinking perfectly right now. Strong spice notes with hints of tabacco which make this wine good, not great for my taste.

Opened and served right away. Medium ruby red colour with a brownish hue throughout. Sweeter nose of dried papaya, red currant, smoke and some sort of lifted note. Flavours of stewed red fruits, earth and leather. Medium body and acidity with lower tannins and medium length finish. Soft in the mouth. A delicious wine that’s drinking well now but no rush. Excellent.

Medium red. Lots of raspberry, cherry and secondary notes like pepper and blood. A touch of sweet fruit flavour and some nice silky tannin. Very nice.
My wife and I enjoyed`this bottle on our little townhouse deck in the moutains above Vancouver while watching a great lightening and rain storm after a 35 degree celsius afternoon. Nice.

A: Rust orange, a red jewel. N: Pine forest and mushroom. Earth currant and wild strawberries. Chocolate and a bit herbal. T: Prunes, plumb. Leather and herbal spice. F: Lingering but sour and extremely herbal. Almost medicinal Overall: Unique and animal like. Lots of barnyard presence and "piney". I felt like it was just to medicinal for me and I love CDP. Like drinking Witch-Hazel.

Nice wine, decanted for about an hour. Color of old bricks and very ripe berry aromas with some dust. A bit of spice and tobacco on the palate with ripe black cherries. Still had some backbone to stand up to the food.

Decanted 45 minutes. Consumed over 2 hours. Lighter in color. Some bricking around the edges. Lots of heat on the nose at first. Almost port like. Settled down with time in the glass. Very ripe red fruits - strawberry and raspberry. Some spicyness emerged later and a distinct potpourri note on the nose. Light tannin, medium acidity, medium body, medium finish. Not a mind blower but solid.

Decanted for 45mins. Medium brown/orange, clear throughout. Nose of rhubarb, papaya, strawberry jam, sweet stewed red fruits. Very complex and enjoyable nose. Flavours of stewed red fruits, tobacco, leather, sweet soy sauce. High acidity, medium tannin, medium body. Sweet mouth feel that's almost too sweet but still excellent. Drink or hold.

touch of earth, eucalyptus and dried cherries on the nose. Tannins are well integrated and slightly drying on the finish, but otherwise it is red fruit, spice and pepper. Compare to bottle #1 in Dec 2006, the earth has lessened considerably.
After being open 5 hours or so, the tannins are noticeably more drying on the finish.

Poured at a retailer tasting. I liked this wine almost as much as the higher priced 2001 Cuvee Etienne Gonnet made by this estate. This wine was selling for $25. Notes of coffee, pepper, cinnamon and black cherry. Medium bodied. 90-91 points.

Not that dark in colour, clearly mainly grenache. Backed up by the nose, lots of raspberry, but also some cherry and hints of dried herbs. Nice medium bodied palate, with good raspberry fruit, hints of cherry bitterness and some darker berry, currant notes on the finish. Tannins were pretty fine and smooth- wouldn't think this would be a long ager. Very nice.
