This bottle is singing! Dark red to purple in the center. Dark and very little light passing, but a jeweled shine to the surface. Loads of blackberry fruit from the nose to the palate. Some baking chocolate in the mid-palate to finish. Some secondary dried fruit components. This was worth saving for a few years, and was wonderful with Smoked ribs, and brisket.
We liked it. Good dark crimson Red in the glass. Lots of Oak on the nose, tinted vanilla. Some dark berry and leather. Was steal at $19 a bottle close-out. Not sure I would have been happy at full price, but a well made bottle.
This didn't hit me as strong as last try, but was still a very wonderful, if slightly green, vegetal but delicious bottle of juice... Spicy wet leather, Malbec comparison very spot-on... if you don't let this breathe for at least three hours, I think you'll never give it 90 or better, so please decant early in the day for later for big reward.
Decant, play 18 holes of golf, return to drink w/cheese & charcuterie. Spicy and slightly vegetal, this drinks a lot like a young CyT Don Melchor. Really does taste Chilean...how do you get that out of Napa's Oak Knoll terroir? I don't understand all the sub-90 point reviews...perhaps the lengthy double-Vinturi decant made the difference for me? Try it, it sure as hell can't hurt!
