White Burgundy study (2008 and 2014) (Chicago, IL): Another preternaturally young 2008 at the table tonight (there were many of them). This had a ripe peachy note as well as a faint hint of licorice; not quite as minerally precise as many of the wines at the table tonight, but by no means a clumsy wine. A rounded texture; the acidity is well-integrated and doesn't jut out at all.

Beaune 1er Cru Tasting, in Both Shades (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): 05/06/08/16 vertical. Enticing floral start, very similar to the 2016, but with more restraint. Nicely bright and fresh throughout, this shows plenty of apple and pear with both ripe and tart features. Very good length, very good density.

A bit darker but just slightly; a picked up soy, herbs, peach pit, really interesting notes along with a hint of caramel and apricot pit/botrytis; slight sweet attack, lots of character, thought this was a 2004 or 2006 with the color. DD at Crustacean.

Full straw to mid gold. Relatively neutral nose, just a little butter alongside an almost waxy, lanolin sense of texture. Quite viscous in the mouth, grand cru weight. Mineral and pleasingly old-school fruitless on the palate, far more about texture. Lovely. Remains of the bottle hold well in the fridge for 24hrs. ****

Burghound in Asia Grand Tasting (St. Regis Hotel, Singapore): Really good. Like the Puligny village, this was also served a tad warm, but it showed really well. I thought it was a step-up from the Puligny in fact. It had a very entrancing, showing lots of depth and complexity for such a young wine in its melon scents, sweet apple flesh and nutty backdrop. The palate was really nice too. Mouthfilling flavours of white fruit, apples and pears were traced by fresh acidity that added a nice focused feel, and sprinkled with mineral and spice tones that carried the wine into a finely detailed finish.
