  • Dry as a bone, lots of chalky, talc-y minerals, delicate gossamer structure but with good density, lovely mild petrol scents and flavors, and a little limey fruit. Excellent.

  • 2 of 7: A potent perfume of petrol and gasoline swell in crescendo over the chorus of soft stone fruit and subtle honey notes. The age of the wine creates an intensely rich fruit quality in the form of baked apple, warm citrus and a kiss of rose petal which remains broad and satisfying on the palate. The wine finishes bone dry with persistent rousing minerality and a rounded honey note. Although this Riesling did not disappoint, the name of the wine, "Les Ecaillers" (meaning "The Oyster Shucker"), was probably even more appropriate during the wine’s youth when the fruit remained more bright and racy.
