A monster wine that harkens back to the days when so much of Spain and especially Priorat and more broadly Montsant was so heavily Parkerized. Nose of Kirsch and oak induced mint. Very rich mid palate, like an Amarone without the raison. Hot, oaked finish with some licorice. Loads of unfiltered sediment. Not my style, but also not bad for what it is.

Opened up nicely and quickly. Drinking partners say it is peppery and delicious. No complaints at all. All loved it. It is a tad heavy in spite of its age. Good though. Wish I had more.

Big floral, spice and a bit of cellar funk aroma. Rich, mouth-filling, juicy black cherry, baking spice, mocha, mineral and mint flavor balanced with grippy tannins and a long finish.

Stamford Book Club No. 3 - Spanish authors; 7/17/2012-7/18/2012 (Casa Vadel): Deep, dark reddish purple. Nose was strong, but sharp with a lot of oak and leather. The palate also made me think this is too young to drink (though i don't know if it will age well). The tannins and oakiness were strong. There was dark red fruit, but it was hidden behind the oak and spice. Although the tannins were strong, it wasn't peel-the-enamel-off-your-teeth strong. It was pretty well balanced and would go well with a thick steak - or better, some lamb. Overall it was a nice wine but I would have it with a meal next time - cheese and crackers don't cut it. don't even think about opening for another 5+ years. still fiercely tannic, even the half bottle that spent 3 days in the fridge. after 3 days it did smooth out some.

really quite nice--beautiful fragrence evoked several comments from my wife; flavor has strong character--nice fruits (berries and faint sweetness) and lovely depth and complexity. Much sediment. Looking forward to some second night flavor (alas, not much left in bottle) and development from the other bottles.

Powerful, spice, plum compote and Kirsch scent. Rich, chewy, ripe blackberry, spice, rhubarb and tobacco flavor with grippy tannins and a long finish.

Not bad, but still a bit rough around the edges for my taste: I'll give my other bottle another 4-5 years and expect it to be better for it.

A lot of young, bright fruit with surprising complexity. This wine should benefit from many more years of aging.

Clos Mogador winery open tasting with René Barbier. (Vila Viniteca (Barcelona)): Medium red cherry color, some sediments on glass. Cassis, red currants, eucaliptus, milky on nose. Medium body, wood, candy, a bit tannic. Medium finish. Quite good.
