Pop and pour. Drank half the bottle over 2 hours. This wine has really transformed from its youth, and even from a couple years ago. The red plush fruit has almost completely subsided, leaving seconardy flavors such as leather and olive. I'll probably drink my last bottle soon.

Monthly Tasting Group - Spain: Slow O'd 4 hours. This wine is definitely modern and stylish. There is plush fruit. Although it's not my favorite style, it does it well. At a tasting full of American oak (dill) this was thoroughly enjoyable. These were massive 5 years ago and it's nice to see all that oak integrating to create a pleasant experience.
Drinking well right now, but still plenty of life left. This has come together a lot since the last time we tried it. The tannins are much more integrated. The oak is still noticeable, but not overpowering. Very nice dark red fruit profile. Some vanilla. A nice finish. No bitter notes. While this has a fairly high ABV, the alcohol was not overtly apparent. A very enjoyable, if modern styled, tempranillo.

Drank over 2 nights under argon. This wine did not change much on the second day. The tannins are still relatively firm. There is a fair amount of oak, and the main flavor is of rich earth.

Cata Histórica Puntido y Victorino con Marcos Eguren (Bodega Santa Cecilia - Madrid): Initially perfumed with notes of cherry yoghurt. Cranberries too. Mineral sense of wet stones. Some salinity. Keeps contributing of a dusty note. On the palate has a fair framework with acidity and length. It still has a lot of life ahead. It was the first vintage of Teso.
Inicialmente perfumado con notas a yoghurt de cereza. Arándanos. Sentido mineral a piedras mojadas. Algo de salinidad. Sigue aportando una nota polvorienta. En boca tiene un chasis justo con acidez y longitud. Tiene todavía mucha vida por delante. Fue la primera añada de Teso.

A wine that makes me think of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer". Big bold and barely constrained with its body (attributed to its high alcohol) though the flavored themselves are slightly out of focus, notes of cassis, Tabacco, clove. A reminder to decant next time.

Excellent bottle of wine - great fruit, modern style, rich, big, well structured; however, it still needs LOTS of time for the tannins to settle down. There is sufficient fruit that will be waiting patiently for this to happen, perhaps in 3-5 years! One thing to note is that it does seam a little hot alcohol wise.

Compared to the last bottle we drank this one offers blunt manners: rough tannins, not yet embedded wood. Strange: two bottles from the same vintage - but one a gentleman and the other a crude fellow.

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is heavy sediment in the bottle. It smells like mineral and stoniness. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.

I like this wine. Decanted for 2 hours prior to drinking and it could've used even more time. Basically, it's still a baby and will likely knit together more in the bottle. That said, it's dark and brooding and fairly enjoyable now. Dark fruit dominates with a good dose of cocoa powder tannins.

Impression only from a couple days ago; big, rich but came across as balanced, not a monster Toro where the tannins will outlive the fruit by a decade. Not secondary at all, but 5 years does seem to have smoothed it around the edges. Pleasant to drink, be interesting to see how the rest of a 6-pack matures. Liked it.

Very dark, almost black with violet edging. The nose reminded of black cherries with a hint of vanilla changing slightly with time to autumn leaves. On the attack quite intense dark fruits, plums, with a slight dark almost burnt caramel or toffee finnsh. Fine tanins and quite a hefty alcohol content (14.5%) should take this superb Toro through for a few more years yet.

Very dark red colour with plum borders. Chocolate bonbon, vanilla, coffee, plum, balsamic notes and even some violet aromas on the nose. Strong (but not harsh) tannins, powerful and full bodied on the palate, correct acidity, creamy, blackcurrant, vanilla and hints of coffee flavours. Similar style than San Román 2004, but more powerful and more aggressive tannins. Still young, it needs more time to polish but it's quite enjoyable right now.

(TN after 90-minute decant) This is a big wine. A very deep, murky-looking purple in color, with legs that look like thick rivulets staining the glass. Powerful, intense aromas of black currant/jam, spicy cinnamon (maybe?), vanilla, and charred wood nearly overwhelm you right off the bat. Big remains the theme with the palate too...loads of rich, dark fruit and woodsy spice prevail, with a solid backbone of earth and smoke. Did I mention this was big? It's tannic as hell, so definitely decant for at least as long as I did, but damn if this isn't the most balanced tempranillo I've had yet. Long, deliciously lingering finish, with the structure to last another 10 years. I wish it was cheaper and I'd buy a case. Amazing wine.

First time having this and quite impressed. Had some pleasant coffee and tobacco flavors that turned a bit herbal and rustic on the finish. Needs some time.

Matt´s 40th birthday (Blanes, Spain): Deep, dark and dense purple colour, mulberries and spice on the nose and a dash of mediterenean herbs. This has lovely balance and structure, serious but elegent, it just needs maybe 5 more years for the tannins to resolve and integrate and it will be 96

This wine is made in a modern, new-world style. Gobs of fruit, low acidity. It is reminiscent of Australian shiraz. I don't much like this style.
