This comes from 80-year-old vines and is medium ruby in colour and medium weight in body. The nose is incisive and this follows on to the palate with excellent volume and length and no noticeable tannins. This is a really lovely wine, elegant, harmoniously balanced, juicy and focussed and now drinking at it's peak although there is no rush to drink up. Classy wine-making. Highly recommended. Estimated maturity: 2009-2015

Good deep, plummy colour. Very classical, if a tad cardboardy, PN nose. Spicy. Lively, warm and mouthfilling on the palate. Nice, long, sweet finish with a touch of violets. Showing well!

Bright, fragrant, red fruit nose, really gorgeous on the nose, nice on the palate, but this has I think some way to go - more polished than you might expect from a Gevrey

Salty entry, lovely balance of acid and gentle strawberry and cherry fruit, a very slight metallic tone, but this was a very attractive mature burgundy

Took a little while to open out, but when it did, it was dense, rich, bruised fruit, gamey. No tannin at all, and low acid. With a bit more bite and grip, this would be exciting

We put this to one side as being corked. I don't know why we revisited it, but when we did the taint seemed to have disappeared and we were left with a rather delicious fresh earthy raspberry Gevrey, lighter than the two clarets we'd just had (Las Cases and Tertre Roteboeuf '89), but very good nonetheless.

Superb raspberry and herbs nose, rich, inviting, less on the palate than the nose suggests and the finish is surprisingly lacking in grip. Nice now and promises to improve.

Oh wow! - sap, and undergrowth, deep red fruitiness, fully resolved and yet so full of life. Beautiful.

Pale and looking mature, forthcoming game and undergrowth nose, lovely rich fruit, but a bit pinched on the finish.

Seventh bottle of the evening, but I remember this as being rich and fruity and very much on form

Dark, juicy, brambly pinot, a bit of structure, more muscular than the preceding Javillier Savigny - pretty good
