Licorice, hot, white pepper. More along the lines of a dessert zin. Stands up to the typical standards of Carlisle. With the alcohol content, it will put you over the edge!

I should have known that the name Carlisle wasn't going to rescue a 16.x% Zin from the year 2000. If I had bothered to read Jeff's note I would have saved $25, but still, this ought not to be sold in good conscience. Prune liquor!! Most of this was poured down the drain.

per the back label, this wine has a small amount of carignane. who could tell or care? it's so alcoholic and over the top, i had to hire a designated driver to take me to my computer to post. if i were a woodchuck, i'd be in hog heaven. yuck.
JN have a nice day.

($24) 16.9% alcohol. Slightly translucent ruby red appearance. Classic Zinfandel nose that mixes clove, Asian spice, and anise with coffee and tea notes. Super-ripe (sheesh - look at the alcohol!) full-bodied with sweet Zinberry fruit on the palate. Sweetness is only from the alcohol - otherwise dry. Bit hot in the finish. Nice. I would have guessed Amador County or Dry Creek Valley, or some combination thereof, as the appellation. Includes a bit of Carignane.
