Really nice bottle, the fruit was dense, very meaty and showed 2001 dark Texture... no browning on the rim this still has lots of time, with air more fruit came through, would be really good with braised beef. Not ce layers and very grand cru. Try again in 5 years.

Light ruby center with fading. Right out of the bottle, a lot of oak with an off-putting coconut aspect. Additionally, with air, stems, licorice, and mixed red fruit in a disjointed mix. Medium weight, high acidity, and a somewhat stern feel. Not lush or sweet in the least, but very nice raspberry and black cherry came up and eventually stood up to the underlying firmness. Tannic, woody finish. If I sound unconvinced by this bottle, it's because I was. I can't say that I have had a particularly successful relationship with this producer.

Deep ruby. Initial blast of oak, but then game and red fruit. Dense to start, loosened as it opened, some cooler green tones, excellent acidity. One of the better Perrot-Minots I've had, but still not aligned to my taste.
I came back to the dregs 2 nights later and was amazed at how the cherry fruit had sweetened and it had developed a spicy nuance that was nowhere to be found right after opening it. The wood had not disappeared, but it was much more tolerable and better incorporated.

Good thanksgiving pairing. Not as impressive as the '02 Rion Gevrey served along w it but still going strong. Agree w the ripe somewhat tannin free experience. Bright fruit w at least a hint of the fundamental Burgundian barnyard nose. Short well balanced end game where the mineral-ity revealed clay more than limestone if that's even possible. Gumby more than the hulk.

Eclectic Wine Dinner (goosefoot - Chicago IL): Served alongside Perrot-Minot 2001 Mazoyeres-Chambertin. All black fruit with moderate spice, well integrated new oak. Hints of some animale and gamy background notes. I found the two wines very similar, no surprise given geographic proximity, but the Mazoyeres just showing slightly "more" of everything.

Dark rich earthy, black cherry, violets, underbrush, big aromas. Dense almost chewy quality, black fruits with a sleek quality. Dry spice with earthy appeal. Long dark finish. Youngish, showing quality and nice purity. Still nice upside likely to come.

Similar to the prior bottle but this one was a bit more aged, perhaps not stored as well or slow ox'ed? Light red with some bricking. Fairly muted nose at first, then some barnyard notes. Taste of cherry, blue fruit, smoked meat, wood with a decent finish.

Would agree with some of the other notes: nice, fruit-driven with good depth and a decent, balanced finish and some secondary notes, though not especially complex.

Drank over 4 hours. After watching 'A Year in Burgundy' I decided to open a couple of my Perrot Minots. I hadn't had this wine in a few years. Surprisingly ripe and forward on the nose. Jammy red fruits, some minerals, wood and every now and then a hint of brett. Great concentration, full and ripe on the palate. Modern in style. Medium+ finish. A nice wine, and very young. Try again in 5 years or so.

Mike Grammer Comes to Town - KS version (Dino, Washington DC): I brought this and I think I liked the wine more than the others which is unusual. Creamy, cherry, raspberry. Very well made and clean. With time more red fruits emerged also some rose. It got better. Excellent concentration. Not as interesting and unique nose as the other two in the flight but close to equal in quality.

Mike Grammer Comes to Town (Dino, Washington DC): I think Mike described this quite accurately as an acutely young Grand Cru. The nose was a bit monolithic with spiced red fruit and the palate had a somewhat vacant feel to it. Luckily, as it lay in the glass the spices began to deepen and the red fruit seemed to grow in intensity. Seemed to be an example of wine that needs a lot of air and/or a good deal more bottle age.

A solid wine, mostly jammy raspberry with some jammy strawberry, mostly red fruits. Still primary, very little spicy notes. Excellent concentration and noticeable but not obtrusive tannins. It displays excellent concentration but without the layering of fruits a la Rousseau Chambertin. Perhaps gevrey chambertin equivalent of Mongeard-Mugneret Echezeaux. Need another 5 to 10 years of cellaring.

Several days later from memory. Wonderfully pure deep berry fruit with some real sinew. Very taut but all elements in place for continued improvement. This was too young (should have waited another 2-3 years minimum) but delicious enough to drink slowly and really savor.
