(WineGate) Ruby with orange rim. Sweetly perfumed at first, complex nose, fruity (cherries, plum. peach) but also spices, leather and tar, bacon, toast with hints of alcohol. Round, sweet and fruity, alcohol gives a small kiss on the cheek with the acidity giving a loud "hello" too. It lacks concentration and feels dilluted (especially when compared to the nose). Tannins dissolved, balance towards the acidity, vanilla, buttery, cherry, toast (hints, short to medium aftertaste. I was expecting more due to -so- attractive nose.

On first glass soon after opening, bordered on appalling. Nearly no nose at all, with watery, hot alcohol on the palate and a wretched soap tasting finish. After one day however it really improved, so much so that it became somewhat drinkable. Nonetheless, brutally disappointing after the 2001 I so thoroughly enjoyed a couple yrs back.

given several hours to air. plum/iodine nose.medium, dark color.smooth, dry, short finish..a typical chianti yet lacking some of the bitterness some have.was hoping for something more full-bodied considering the reserve status.2006 was a superb year for the region.expecting more next time.

An appealing earthiness under the ripe cherry fruit in this wine. It grew more savory with air, gaining both freshness and length from the bright middle. Firm and balanced, it was a good match for my filet with Gorgonzola.

This is a Riserva?!?! I mistakenly decanted this thinking a young Riserva would need air. The color is thin and the wine is thin and weak. No future ahead for this disappointing effort I'm afraid.

Wow, where is all the hate coming from on this wine? I think it's actually pretty good. This wine is wonderful with a pasta, meat sauce. On it's own it's a bit tannic and closed, but you can say that about a lot of Chiantis. It definately needs a big glass to breathe. The nose is pencil lead with a hint of dark fruits brooding under the surface and some vanilla and herbal tones. On the palate is plum, blackberries and black currant and some wet stone. Dark fruit dominated wine, firm tannins but not offensive. Decent structure and finish. I think it might actually be a little young and will benefit from some time in the bottle. Old world style and a bit backward but compared to all the fruit bombs out there with no structure, I think it's refreshing. Nice Chianti in my book.

This was opened two days ago and left on my door step by some homeless kids who didn't like it. It has been corked since. This is very dark in color for a Chianti... almost black, and can't see your fingers through it at all. It shows fairly sweet aromas of a orange creamsicle, toffee flavored popcorn, wood extract, and a pretzel. Weird, and pretty nasty. Definitely some volatile acidity on the nose as well. Mid-palate shows some plastic garbage can, cherry sauce, and mild tannins covered in oak. Mid-palate isn't so bad, but the flavors hitting on the initial finish kind of make me cringe a bit, as there's quite a bit of stomach acid flavors, a rusty nail, 2x4 chips, and I'm definitely left with the feeling the tannins are made out of metal. The flavors left 20 seconds later aren't all that bad. $20 for this is robbery.

Initially I popped and poured this for the wife, she took one drink and dumped the rest in the sink. I left it open for this morning after work. Open 12 hours: The nose is oddly funky with some fruit and oak detectable. After a full night of work my sniffer isn't working so great. Thin palate, lots of tart fruit, disappears quickly after swallowed. Tannins are somewhat abrasive but not terribly. Lots of acidity as well, as there should be for a young chianti. I got the wife to take another sip, she said it has improved but still sucks. While I wouldn't go that far, this is a boring wine that I would never purchase again. Doesn't drink anywhere near it's near $20 price point.

Very drinkable. Had with pepporini/mushroom pizza. The 2004 is much better but this chianti is very enjoyable.

Good, but light on body. Pasta and red sauce overwhelmed. Really good drinking by the glass and appealed to everyone as drinkable.

The nose is deeper than other chiantis tasted before this in the same session, with a slight oxidative note; the palate is oddly flavorless.
