Served alongside the 2006, both bagged/blind. Both for me seemed to be drinking very well. The 2006 seemed a bit more robust, a notch edgier than the 2004. The 2006 shows a mint, plus a ripe red fruit (akin to a strawberry) plus some tanginess that comes from raspberry. Both together reminded me of a red fruit compote. Red apple and what I jotted down as cinnamon. Overall, the 2006 is soft and juicy. With the 2004, it also shows the red apple of the 2006, but there is a melon note in the 2006, which was a call-out that Brig made. His comment and that feature reminds me a lot of the more recent iteration of the wine, which is now called Emotion. The 2006 shows the profile of a recent bottle of the 2013 Emotion, that melony, red-fruited, gentle yet concentrated profile. To me, the 2004 just showed a little bit better than the 2006, yet I do believe both are ready to drink.

Hmm, others loved this but didn’t quite win me over. Great energy and nervy quality, but that’s the main thing, could use a bit more balance. Not clearly a rose to my taste, though color certainly is.

First bottle of this was five years ago. Time has been kind. Fresh bread notes have supplemented the red fruit, while the racy acidity has held firm, making the overall impression quite thrilling. It is still quite youthful, but I like the balance now, so am glad to have opened my last bottle.

BYO (Birkerød): Simply an adoring Rose Champagne. I just love the touch of red fruits and this vintage has a lot of acidity. Perhaps a bit to much. Not as good as the 02 but still a great and enjoyable wine!

Oh my. Great balance, nuance of strawberry and clearly quite young. Those who own both the 04 and 06 will have a treat comparing them (my money's on the '06, but for this comparison: it's the taking part which counts). The vintage Rubis really are quite exceptional bottles of wine.

Very vinous Champagne, with tiny bubbles, more frizzante. Nuanced and elegant -- I agree with the kasteel rouge note but this is of course more ethereal and nimble.

May 2008 disg. Superfine bubbles and delicate lacy mousse, this has become even silkier since last winter. Easy going and beautifully balanced yet full of nuances for those who care to pay attention. The finest. Barvo Laurent!

30th Birthday at Palena; 6/2/2011-6/5/2011 (Palena, Washington, DC): N: Strong nose of red cherry, fall leaves, barnyard, red raspberry, a little strawberry as well P: Strawberry, red raspberry, a little burnt cinnamon, leaves, barnyard. F: Long finish, lots of acidty and some tannin noted, bugt really nice cut as well. Overall this was one of my favorite bottles of the tasting and right down my alley as I love rose bubbles, really started to show with some extended air. 93-94

Brett's Epic Birthday Tasting (Palena - Washington, DC): this rose champagne really amazed me. so unique, from the pour to the finish. light strawberry color. for the light color, the nose is full of cherry skins, raspberries and a distinct mushroom aroma. the palate is rich and gorgeous. melon fruit on the palate, but the most intriguing flavor is this kind of dark cherry extract. it reminds me of kasteel rouge, which is a beer blended with pure cherry juice. the purity of this dark fruit flavor is incredible. but the richness is equally matched with searing acid. the finish is incredibly long. one of the best rose champagnes i've had in....?

Russell's Pebbles Fizz Offline (Alex's DML Office): Pale salmon. Yeasty, savoury almost marmitey nose. tart red fruit on the attack. Seems highest acidity on the finish. Lack the experience to know how this will evolve but it seems clasy if not quite to my taste. **(*1/2)?

"Vilmart Night In" more fruity, and jubilant than the 2000, the nose also had a touch of alcohol on it (in burgundy glasses - not noticed in zaalto stems) that I found a bit discombobulating. The palate was ripe, intense, and beautiful. THe wine was nonetheless overshadowed a bit by the 2000, which was more harmonious in composition. This 2004 had fruit, next to a touch of tannin, next to a brilliant acidity, but they weren't quite melded yet. Spice on the tail end, and gorgeous with food.
night 3 revisit: this last glass smells exotic, like tropical fruits meshed with sandalwood and eucalyptus leaves. The palate is as vibrant and lithe as three days ago, bubbles still going strong. It's more elegant and put-together tonight. Fantastic stuff! It's acidity indicates a younger wine (duh) next to its 2000 brethren.

Some high-end Vilmart wines can be rather intense. Not this. This the prettiest Vilmart wine in my experience. What it lacks in intensity it more than makes up for in grace, harmony and elegance. Aromas and flavors of cinnamon-tinged raspberry backed by pinpoint effervescence, the faintest whispers of oak, and crunchy acidity. Though this is really a very serious wine, it's so delicious, fun and refreshing that I doubt my three bottles will last long.

Lite artificiell doft som blir bättre med kvällen Banan, jordgubbar. Perfekt en sommardag med en ny bekantskap som inte är champagnenörd eller så lägger man ner flaskan i källaren i 6-7 år och ser vad som händer

Blind - 2004 and 2006 side by side - guessed these were Vilmart Emotion - close!
06 - sweet perfume and cherry note - the Pinot dominates this profile
04- muted nose with melon on the palate. Good balance and strawberry at the finish. Maple syrup starts creeping out as it warms.
Note: love the rose but the dosage is beginning to turn me off a bit as I enjoy leaner rose these days.
