Great moderate purple color. Slightly tight and closed on opening but opened over a half hour or so. Big, young red stone fruit but age shows in silky tsnnins and mouth feel. Very smooth with long finish. Probably approacjing peak but this bottle could go much longer.

This bottle was absolutely lovely. From an earthy, fruity nose to a beautifully balanced taste from beginning to end. An absolutely delightful Pinot Noir. This should drink well for at least five years.

Most notable facet of this bottle is that it seemed shut down... Not over the hill but just not singing like it usually does. Guess I need to sit on th other bottle for a couple of years to get it through this slump.

I am not sure why people are failing to recognize this wine's beauty. It is an utterly wonderful pinot depending on the style you prefer. The wine's color is garnet red with hints of cherry, wildflowers and sage. It is a graceful wine which takes control of your palate from start to finish as it fills your mouth with ripe strawberries, raspberries and even a hint of cola before it ends with a sense of creaminess. This wine is full and alive and simply delicious from start to finish.

Maybe I just don't understand what the winemaker was going for here. I'm not a fan of fruit-bomb pinots that lose all varietal character, but this is too much in the other direction. Almost no fruit, no nose, and a bitter finish. Disappointing, especially for the price.

Popped and poured with chicken parmigiana. Aroma doesn't give much, some strawberry but not much else. Taste is also strawberry with some earthiness and a decent amount of acidity. Overall, this really didn't make much of an impression, but was pretty enjoyable.

Good fruit without over doing it; pomegranate favors reminded me of tannins that are just right. Alcohol was not dominant. Paired well with baked salmon.

Drank with Thanksgiving dinner; medium body and great color; cherry flavors dominate; some Indian spice and vanilla notes; good fruit and acidity; definite crowd pleaser with the meal

Pop and pour. Some funk on the nose and wine was harsh and disjointed. Gave it a couple of hours and some air. What a difference. Paired with food the wine showed me something. Dark with silky red fruit balanced with the acid and alcohol. Even better day two. Give this at least a couple of years in bottle. 91-93.

Pretty nose with chocolate, cherry and spice. Very glossy in the mouth with heavy oak influence and dominant vanilla flavors. Excellent in an abundant oak style. Hard not to enjoy now but will improve.

This wine is dark in color and very refined stylistically. A little bashful aromatically but improved with air (and after being poured through a wine aerator). Balances rich flavors with ample acidity. Elegant stuff that may well benefit from some bottle age.
The only off note I detected, and it's a quirky I-don't-know-how-to-describe-it kind of thing but it's kind of a "twang" that I've gotten in several Oregon Pinot Noirs. It's like a weedy/stemmy/dill flavor that pops up like a gopher every once in a while. Strange, but it got in the way of full-throttle enjoyment for me a couple times with this one.
That aside, an opulent fine wine that I'd be proud to serve at a sit down dinner.
No La Tache, but very tasty. Don't keep this one too long. I'd give it 48 months tops and will be drinking my 6 bottles at a steady pace for the next 3 years.

taste: wound pretty tight on the palate with a classy medium feel and medium acidity. Well balanced with good depth and feminine tones of red fruits, floral tones, spices and red cherry tones
overall: this is a real good and young pinot. This needs some time to fully emerge, but it can be a real lovely wine with some time

E&R's Pinot Noir-egon Weekend; 4/24/2010-4/25/2010 (Portland, OR): After enjoying the Five Mountain so much, I decided to try this one anyway despite having just had it a few weeks ago to see if my impression had shifted. Nope... this is very light on the fruit on the nose, but its fairly dark fruit. Shows mild fruit throughout, but doesn't really have the structure or any other elements to keep interest here. Not much balance at all.

North Willamette Vintner's Wine Trail Weekend; 4/10/2010-4/11/2010: Bigger, darker fruits on the nose. Very soft and round palate... but too soft. Not much other than some juicy fruit, but nothing to keep me interested. Very generic finish without much balance... just lots of fruit here.

The nose was pretty light, with cherry skins being the only distinct scent I noticed. It was very smooth on the palate though, delivering nice cherry fruit and even structure all the way to the end. The cherries are ripe and juicy, and while there isn't a whole lot of complexity the flavors and texture are very enjoyable. 90-
