Amber colored, Clean and clear. Spoiled banana peel, hot to the nose, burnt sugar, all spice Bites on the first sip, medium plus finish. Ton of banana off this. Light molasses undertones. A 'mixing' rum for me, although would work well if one were cold and wet, and in need of some instant warmth.
Smoked a Caldwell Eastern Standard

Single shot on the rocks. Pale peach colour. Bitter smell of crushed cane, to green apple drowned in alcohol. Nothing enjoyable. On the palate it is more mellow, quiet, with a bit of punch even but a little short. Needs a coke urgently.
Servida una medida con hielo. Pálido color melocotón. Amargo olor a caña machacada, a manzana ahogada en alcohol. Nada disfrutable. Al paladar se muestra más meloso, tranquilo, con pegada pero un poco corto. Necesita una coca con urgencia.

Big step up from the signature Lots of dark sugar notes on the nose, fire and spice On the palate red fruit, grassy vegetal notes and some mature leather and tobacco notes Vanilla sweetness on the finish It's about £25 a bottle which isn't bad value

WSET Level 2 Class 9 (BCIT Downtown Campus, Vancouver, BC): Tasted non-blind. Clear, medium+ amber. Nose is clean, pronouced intensity, with aromas of molasses, baked banana, candied fruit, strong vanilla. Palate is dry, low acid, medium body, flavours of sweet oak spice, vanilla, baked pineapple cake, molasses. Finish is medium+. Quality is acceptable to good... not my preference.
