A bit closed aromatically, but otherwise in a good spot. Lot of citrus, as well as nectarine and other pit fruit, all wrapped in a bit of crystallized honey. The finish is long and dominated by slightly bitter citrus pith. The integration is excellent; neither the acid nor the residual sugar stand out as distinct elements at this point. No rush, but I’d suggest checking in on remaining bottles soon.

Light golden colour. Evolving, rich and savory. Exotic fruits like pineapple and papaya. Full palate, medium full body, long. Residual sugar and acidity in perfect balance. On the beginning of mature period, which could be quite long.

Still full of vigor and energy. The acidity is ripe and very solid, fruit has mellowed into dry honey and sweet quince and orange juice. Very long, spicy.

Very fine showing. Entering into a more mature phase. Lime, meyer lemon and other citric notes. Good body, not especialy acidic; demi-demi-sec, just a tad of RS. Only the faintest of chenin wooliness on the palate. Highly enjoyable across a range of strong indian curry flavors. Excellent pairing.

Quince, biscuit, green apple. Opens with aeration. Good weight, spicy, good volume, penetrating acidity. Creamy texture. Very long. Youthful. (Do not serve too cold.)

Showing very well, my wine of the night last night. The restrained year works well with this site -- it's just off dry in this version with nice aromatic interest.

Medium clear yellow. Moderate nose with lemon, honey, and fruit. Medium weight with good acid and smooth velvety feel. Long finish. Great balance. Good aperitif.

Another beauty from Chidaine! Wonderful nose of wet wool, minerals, and citrus fruits. Complex, well-balanced, and with delicious minerality on the palate. A producer that has never let me down.

Poured as an aperitif with crudités and cheese, went perfectly especially with salty kale chips. Just a hint of sweetness contrasts with great acidity and lovely exotic fruit and honey flavors.

Golden color. Initially almost no aroma. Opened up some after 1.5 hr. Granny smith apple, pear, floral and mineral aromas. Flavors of granny smith apple, citrus, unripe pear, apricot, and minerals. Nice pit flavors with minerally tingle and then nutty bitterness on a long finish. Slightly hot at the finish but does not detract from enjoyment. Really enjoyed this but perhaps not showing its best as others on the blogosphere have raved about this wine. Really nice wine but not a blow my mind kind of wine.

Delicious, as I always find his wines. Off-dry, with persimmon and other fruit flavors. Acidity is good, alcohol not out of balance. Went well with spicy shrimp.

Opened this bottle on 7/22 and I didn't like it at all. It was very tightly wound and the finish was quite astringent. It didn't taste corked to me, but it was so inexpressive that I thought it might be. I recorked the bottle and put it back in the fridge. Two days later I brought the bottle to the wine shop and asked the proprietor to taste it. He loved it and thanked me for the opportunity to taste it. He assured it me it wasn't corked or flawed in any manner and when I tasted it again at home, I could see the wine had indeed started to open up. It was still pretty tight to my palate, so I put it back in the fridge and intended to try again in a couple of days. Well, I forgot all about it. I didn't give this wine another thought until I bought a 12 pack of beer tonight and was trying to make room for it in the fridge. I expected this was a bottle of vinegar by now but I decided to try it anyway. Thank god I did, 'cause this wine is singing! Not even a hint of oxidation here! Classic Chenin. It's waxy and woolly on the nose with a hefty dose of anise. Very honeyed on the palate, but just slightly off-dry with a juicy texture and a long mouthwatering finish. Seems rather unevolved for 38 days open. I think I will pick up a few more bottles to celebrate my retirement...31 years from now. Who says Montlouis can't age?

I'd call this more dry than off dry. Some honeysuckle notes along with a bracing, bright, lemony acidity. Clean and clear. Nice, pretty, long finish with a bit of lime to it. Teeth coating acid. A noble wine. Very nice. B

Beautiful full nose of stones, wool and melons. Palate is zippy with medium rich white and melon fruits, honey and mineral. Love the interplay between tension and fruit. Smooth throughout. So well balanced. Long.

Riper, more of a sense of the RS than when tasted at the domaine. Quite rounded and mineral. Nice drinking on its own but would be food friendly. Still young. ***

Chidaine (La Cave Insolite, Montlouis): Demi-sec. 12g RS. Rounder, a slight sense of the RS on the nose but still fairly dry. Riper possibly. Good but doesn't excite me as much as some of the previous wines. ***

Some nice stone fruit and melon flavors, with just enough residual sugar to balance the acidity.
