This bottle was much better than the last. A true steal, and glad to hav enjoyed this one. Fully mature, not going to get better, but this one wasn't over the hill.

Received a couple bottles of this last weekend that were properly stored. This is doing pretty well considering there wasn't much expectation for a wine sold as merely adequate. This hasn't turned into some amazing wine or anything, but it's matured nicely enough and was enjoyable with lamb.

Great right away - dried fruits, a bit of earth, some dirt, and a hint of oxidation with a caramel nose. Palate was similar. Probably the best bottle of this yet.

Leather, spice, tobacco, smoke, vanilla, and some oak. A little dusty/chewy on the back end, with vegetal notes. It's an interesting wine, and certainly different from most things I've had...most likely because of the predominant Carignane.

Approaching the end of its life, it seems. Started hot from alcohol, then after a few minutes got a nice noce and palate of fruit, spice, leather, smoke, etc. Then after a couple hours of air time it started to get disjointed again.

Light purple. Boysenberry pie filling, vanilla and spice intermingle to produce a nice nose. Medium bodied, oak, spice and fennel dominate the entry, but then black cherries, cranberries, and pepper hit, with good acid and well integrated tannins leading to a slightly tart, smokey medium length finish. This is much better than last year.

Even with Vinturi'ing it into a decanter, it still seems kinda tight. I'm getting spice on the nose, and the fruit is in there, but it's just not coming out. Feels like it's got a while yet before it's done.

Kept waiting for this to open up and show something. Nose stayed pretty tight, hollow flavor profile, finish non-existent. Day 2 not much better. Either I've waited too long on this or not long enough. I suppose time will tell, but this one was disappointing.

Not fading at all. Still excellent. Both nose and taste. Sad I only I have one more bottle to go. This has been one of my most favorite "Woot Cellars" offerings to date. Nice plum fruit with a bit of smoke or cedar box. Hard to describe but very very drinkable.

This particular bottle was almost as good as my highly rated one a few months ago. This one is not fading at all and is delicious over a 2 day period. No alcohol heat with this but good fruit balanced with a bit of tannins and tobacco. Extremely drinkable on its own.

pretty color, like dark cherry juice. nose: cherry. Coffee flavor present, cherry too. Not complex, but this is good juice. Smooth with gentle mouthfeel (not hot, and not too tannic). After reading my notes on a previous bottle consumed last year, I get cinnamon on nose - definitely more subtle than last year though, as I didn't even notice it at first

Drank an entire bottle with a colleague after work (while still at the office). This is fabulous and appears to have aged an appropriate time to alleviate any hotness. A good bit of fruit on the nose and palate that balances the slight bit of hotness that still exists. A nice long finish. My colleague and I both loved this bottle. We did not decant but drank over about a 2 hour period. Even the first taste was not hot.

Huge nose. A little bit of lead and black fruit. Very dark smelling. Taste: Plums. Way more fruit than it had last year. I still get a powdery mouth feel. Finish is still a little short. Taste a little stewed.

Dark, slightly rusty magenta. Boysenberry, spices, cola, and worn cowboy boots on the nose. Medium bodied, more tannic than fruity, pepper, lots of oak, cherry stems, smoke, some heat, and a medium finish. I prefer more actual flavor than this had. Back into the cellar.

Strawberry and heat smell. Some cinnamon. A little wood, but not smokey barrels, but a springtime forest, perhaps. Similar flavors with a smooth mouthfeel. No tannins. People say they'd like to lay this down for a while, but it tastes good to me now. Alcohol content is high. Good overall.

My first try of this and I liked it. I actually had put my case away and forgotten about it but needed a red tonight to go with some pasta and marinara sauce and this worked fine. Plenty of fruit, a bit of heat and some good tannins. Good balance. Should get even better like other woot cellars wines.

This wine is a great example of what a good $10 bottle is. It does this very well. I let this sit for 10 months as the other reviews seemed to suggest it needed time, I'm glad I did. It was a little hot on open but that blew off pretty quickly. The wine is a balanced table wine. I'll be tossing this into the mix the next few months now.

Bouquet is cherry with light oak, with some heat. Subtle notes of leather and somewhat fruity, but it's a very muted wine that didn't open up well on decanting. Light on the tannins, and a bit of heat at the end. Not impressed, but as per other reviews, the other bottles will sit until next year to see if they'll open up on aging. It has some potential, but is not a great wine yet.

Decanted 2 hours. Nose: Bit of fruit, bit of latex. Taste: Some red fruit, some oak. Not much by way of tannins, but a little hot on the finish. Still get some green notes on the back/finish. I have to say that this wine is very inconsistent from bottle to bottle, this, by FAR, has the most fruit of those I have popped.

This wine is not great. But that's never what this wine was intended to be. This wine is good, and it's damn good for the money, and *that's* what it was supposed to be. This wine is unidimensional from start to finish. Flavors don't evolve much at all but there's an impressively solid shot of fruit that even mingles with some oak (which I don't really think is necessary but I suppose I'll take it).
I would still, I think, be more pleased to see wines of this style embrace a little more the notion that they don't need to be made in the style of great agers, because that's not what this kind of wine is. But I have to say I'm impressed with how this has surpassed my expectations. It's a pup yet, and it should evolve quite quickly vis-a-vis bottle age. But I like where it is. I want to give this wine a higher rating but it doesn't merit it; on the other hand I adore the sentiment behind the construction of this blend and I wish more people would try to put juice of this quality in bottle at this price point. I wish there was a rating for that!

I opened a bottle on Saturday and was under whelmed - even after a quick trip through the Vinturi. On Sunday I tried again and it was still very very dry, quite harsh and after reading other comments I was starting to think that the other 11 wines I have would need to be locked away for a year or so before venturing out again.
But! Tried a glass Monday and the wine is much nicer - Smoother, no bitter taste, not nearly as dry. Very open and warm. Not much nose. A lovely dark, opaque burgundy color.
This must be the first wine that I have had that needs 3 days of air before it opens up. I'm not sure this suits my drinking style at all!
My guess is that this is a complex wine, needing much longer in the bottle. Come back in 2 years and this might be a classic - but simply not ready to be drunk now.

Decanted for a few hours before drinking. Very dry. I would put it behind the prior woot reds - Boss, Tooth, EHP. May need some time to cellar, and maybe more time to settle from shipping. Have half left in decanter and will try again on days 2 and 3.

Definitely more than Adequate. It's dry, as expected, with all those tannins. The fruit seems pretty green to me, not darker fruits but something "zippier". Yeah, I just made up a word. It's not hot at all like the Boss but there's also not any spice here and, like I said, the fruits are brighter and not as deep. I get more of a leather thing from this wine but not a dark "leather-and-cherries" feeling like I get in Merlots... this is different.
Overall I find this wine extremely enjoyable. It's the first time I've ever had a mostly Carignan blend and it's great. At the price I'm more than happy.
