Notes from a B-Day tasting. N of tropical fruit, lemon, little cream and yeast P of strong lemon, apples, some zest and yeast as well F was long in length and the cut was another step down from the previous wines
Brett's B-Day Bash: Quince and lemon crème on the nose. Tart on the palate with lemons and apricots. This wine has a huge, dominant presence, but it works because it's so lively. A whole lot of richness and minerality. Long life ahead.
Precise, poised, fine champagne. Fine mousse, very small bubbles. Fresh nose, apples, brioche, minerals, yeast. Lively palate, fairly delicate, but with a perfectly rich mid palate, which lingers through the length.
Smells quite strange at first, needs a while to breath. After that has blown off, a beatiful array of aromas emerge. Sous bois effect; cheesy funk and spicy vanilla. Also brioche and citrus fruits. All in an elegant package though, nose is complex but not overdone. Somewhat full-bodied on the palate, with refreshing acidity. Good stuff.
Really aromatic with yeasty/bready notes and some citrus. Terrific tight bubble action and a devishly bright acidity. Seemed really tight and angular at first but really opened into a beauty of a champagne. Great stuff.
Writing this about one month later but enjoyed this champagne very much. Love the fact that it is biodynamic. Good mouthfeel and acid structure, definitely a food champagne. Enjoyed so much buying the 2006 which is a better vintage.
Fantastic mousse of pinpoint bubbles. Rich texture and almost full bodied for a champagne, the pinot adds richness to the primarily ripe chardonnay flavors of ripe yellow apples and plums, touch of spice, flavorful, with a real finish! Delicious. Not sure how this will age, but should drink beautifully for the next few years. If it tightens up, the sky's the limit.
Champagne Producer Tour, 2011 (Champagne, France): Tasted with laurent from 40-yr old vines, 80% Chardonnay, 20% PN, aged 10 month in small barrel (4-6 years old). The nose exhibited cinnamon spice, orange and lemon. The palate reminded me of christmas cookies it was so very delicious.
