Brick red, minimal fade at edge. Sour cherry aroma and flavor. Distinct, warm finish. Tastes like Pinot Noir, but also reminds me of Zinfandel. Very nice given the under-$20 price tag. Glad I have the 2011 on hand.

This is still young. Took about 60-90 minutes for it develop the smooth characteristics of a nice Pinot. Parker says the 2008 Oregon vintage is not ready to drink; Wine Spectator says drink or hold. Got to go with Parker on this one.

Lighter ruby red color. Cherries, baking spices, minerals, flowers, strawberries, and a bit of earthiness on the nose. Light to medium body with soft tannins and tart acidity. Fruit and spice on the palate with just a hint of an herbal note coming in on the back end. Real nice length on the spicy finish. A nice Pinot for under $20.

- Crimsom color with medium forming legs and aromas of black pepper. It's lacking fruit and has flavours of black currant, licorice anise and dusty with a light/medium body. Round texture with a medium finish - A bit stringent for my taste. Light and lack of fruit makes the wine less than interesting.

Blast of strawberries, red raspberries, and light red cherries along with touch of floral notes in the bouquet. Chewy light red berries with a surprise of moderate tannins as it courses over the tongue and palate. Moderately long finish with mainly strawberries, and a touch of tannin.

Light ruby; candied cherries, earth, smoky bacon, wild strawberries; ripe sour cherry, glycerin, medium body, good balance, good acidity, firm ripe tannins, good finish. Pleasant earthy, smoked meat aromas mingled with wild cherries and strawberries. The palate seemed somewhat lean with the zippy acidity. A good food wine, more Burgundian than New World.

Nice, easy drinking pinot. Smooth flavors of cherry and blackberry. Nice finish. Decent QPR, but I do not see this as a top 100 wine. I would call it typical for the 2008 Oregon PNs I have tasted. For about the same money, I prefer the Veramonte Ritual. However, I would not hesitate to buy more.

Ruby red, a little dark. Pinot nose, wild cherry, full of acidity, smooth tannin, medium body, strawberry fruit, a bit too much of oak, medium long aftertaste. A pleasant Pinot at this price is a value.

Nice Ruby red color to mid-rim, lighter at the edges. Fair amount of light passes. This is a typical Oregon PN on the nose, with some tart-raspberry and cherry on the nose. there is some also some woody-nutty funk, in a nice way, that adds some more character from the typical Oregon PN. On the palate, there are some additional cranberry sweet-tartness, and some additional spice, with a litte green action on the finish. nothing bitter, but it's there. Overall, a nice PN experience at this price, and seems to dieliver good value for a banner vintage year in Oregon.

Delightful slightly acidic tart cherry flavour. This 65,000 cs wine augurs well for the 08 Vintage, as it had to be broadly sourced. Ellen, the hyper taster thought it acidic and Pinot Light. I thought it balanced, and very enjoyable(.PS - If I would buy a wine after tasting it, I give it a minimum of 90.)

Nice pinot. Now I'm far from an expert but while this IS nice, it also isn't anything out of the ordinary. Was much better after about 1 hour in the decanter but still fairly medium-bodied, light & fruity red. Semi-dry finish, not bad. Just nothing great.

Well balanced Pinot. Like any Pinot, it is all about the food pairing. We had this for Christmas paired with Beef Wellington. Wow! The earthy/truffle/mushroom nature of the food flavors brings out so much more in the wine. Everyone raved about the food and wine !

Starts off with a lot of promise as the nose delivers beautiful cherry and earthy aromas you'd expect from an Oregon Pinot Noir. A nice dose of acidity and a long enjoyable finish. The only thing that's got me down is a green, stemmy aftertaste that lasts just a moment but is particularly distracting and off-putting. Oh, and it was a little thin too. But so close to being great! The green aftertaste seems to dissipate on the second day.

Medium ruby robe with red rim. Clean nose, showing moderately intense aromas of red cherries, spice and strawberries. Light-to-medium-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity and light-to-medium, slightly astringent tannins. The flavors mirror the nose. The middle palate is solid and the medium-length finish is somewhat dry. This is certainly not a bad wine (remember, 85 is not a bad score). It is likewise not a bad value. That said, to my palate, it is not a 90-point wine and certainly would not be in my top 100 wines of 2010. Drink now-12/14.

This was the first bad 08' Oregon Pinot we have had. Can't believe WS gave this 90. Thin as an anorexic teenager. A finish that splits like a hooker 1 minute after payment. Is there Bottle variation??? Will not buy again. They say "Aristocratic Wines at Democratic Prices." No wonder I vote republican. Served with wild mushroom risotto.

This wine is #75 on The Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2010. They gave it 90 points.
Here's what I say.
The color is bright and alive. So light. I can see right through it. This will be refreshing from all the Cabs I’ve been drinking.
It’s nose is even bright and is infiltrated with pepper. It smells like Oregon terra firma.
I get some cherries and a hint of raspberries. Way back, I get a hint of cantaloupe, too.
The nose is filled with grins and pleasant sighs.
Oh, that’s delicious and pleasant and smooth. And juicy! A thin juiciness. A long finish. Mmm. It just lingers in prettiness with just a hint of tartness. But it’s so bright. There are blueberries in here, too, but mostly cherries. Bing cherries. Oh, it’s delightful.
And after a while, there is a hint of dryness. Like dust. Like dust from the paths they drive and walk on while carting the wines.
This is a terrific wine. It’s like 92 points terrific.
So why A to Z?
"The 2008 A to Z Oregon Pinot Noir is blended from wines made from at least thirty different vineyards representing all of the Oregon AVAs that grow Pinot Noir. We take great care to craft one cuvée each vintage, creating a complex blend that embodies The Essence of Oregon." (http://www.atozwineworks.com/documents/08PNTasteSheet.pdf)
And damn it, they have. Like I said, it tastes like Oregon, and Oregon makes the best Pinot Noirs.
And it’s organically grown, too. (http://www.atozwineworks.com/documents/08PNShelfTalker.pdf). So double bonus.
Plus, an awesome slogan: Aristocratic Wines at Democratic Prices. Triple Bonus.
Picked this up after seeing it on the WS list. Next day it was sold out at my safeway. In my estimation, it was delicate at every stage, from aroma to finish.

PnP. Again dark but acceptably pinotesque (like the Spindrift) even though almost opaque. Lovely red cherry cranberry aromas with a touch of earthiness. Great fruit fruit flavors in a sleeker package than the color may lead you to expect. A bit weak on the finish.

This was reccomended to accompany Thanksgiving dinner. People seemed to enjoy it. It seemed to go along with the usual foods pretty well,, Nothing either offensive, or stand-out, though. The color was nice, clear ruby, not much aroma,, and not really so much body, that it got in the way of having another glass. I would use this for another gathering, but might look for something a little deeper for a more personal experience.

Tried at a tasting. The nose was good, but that's where the compliments end. The wine was a bit too acidic, the fruit was funky, and the body is just too weak for a wine that lacks elegance. Too many better pinot's at $20 and I suspect this one suffers from quite a bit of bottle variation.

Disappointed in this one, very thin, decent earthy cherry nose but not much after that. The balance was not good either. It sat for a while since I wasn't drinking much and did seem to get a little better. I hope the next bottle is better.

Safe and easy. Some find this too lacking in depth or too acidic. I actually think this is one of the best balanced A to Zs in a few years, with just a touch of that nice Oregon earthiness. Great value for a weeknight pinot.

Ok, this a nice, fruity, easy Pinot Noir. Balanced enough for what it is. That said it's lacking in body and doesn't come across like an Oregon Pinot in flavor. Pretty boring. It does go down easy though and held up well in the fridge for 2 nights. Had this beside the Erath 2008 and the Duck Pond 2008 OPNs, the Erath was the clear winner, this came in second.

Light ruby color with transparent rim. Beautiful and complex nose: dried cranberry/cherry, damp forest floor, juniper/eucalyptus, and a little white chocolate. Palate: spry raspberry and dried cranberry fruit with more juniper, some mushroom, and again a tiny brush of white chocolate. Gorgeous, juicy acidity. Moderate/lighter tannins. Moderate/long finish. Green stick and a hint of peppercorn lingering. Impressive intensity and structural balance without excess weight. Always an excellent cool climate PN and a nice buy.

We take great care to craft one cuvée each vintage, creating a complex blend that embodies The Essence of Oregon."
And damn it, they have. Like I said, it tastes like Oregon, and Oregon makes the best Pinot Noirs.
And it’s organically grown, too. (http://www.atozwineworks.com/documents/08PNShelfTalker.pdf). So double bonus.
Plus, an awesome slogan: Aristocratic Wines at Democratic Prices. Triple Bonus.
This is good stuff.

It does go down easy though and held up well in the fridge for 2 nights. Had this beside the Erath 2008 and the Duck Pond 2008 OPNs, the Erath was the clear winner, this came in second.
