  • Decanted 2.5 hrs before drinking. Nice but not remarkable. Good fruit with a little pepper, a bit acidic, linger is medium. Seems like it will mellow more, but I'm not smart enough to know if that will make it better.

  • Good wine at a fair price. Probably as good as it's going to be; I was perhaps a little generous with my prediction of a year and a half ago. Drink up over the next few years.

  • So great for the price!

  • Hmmmm. Sweet red and black fruits on the nose. Palate is an elevator ride of fruits on acidity. The mid-palate is hallow and the finish a bit clipped. Typical for what I have found in many 2007s. This must be new-new world I have been reading of. :)
I really liked this one better when I last had it. This is overly ripe with some heat at drying tannins. OUCH! I guess I can always give my last ones away.....

  • Classic, straight ahead Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon. Classic cassis, oak and vanilla nose, and classic palate of blue/blackberry, oak spice, and vanilla. Was superb with beef stroganoff.

  • Good basic Napa cab. Nose of rich dark fruits and vanilla. Much of the same on the palate with good weight. Nice for the price but not crazy. Like others I would like this more at 17-19 dollars.

  • Poured with vinturi and decanted about an hour. Didn't get the complexity and body that Parker calls out in his tasting report but do agree with him about the soft tannins and approachability. Hopefully it will put on a bit more weight and complexity with another year or so in bottle. Right now it's a nice wine with a surprisingly impressive nose and present, even if one-dimensional, fruits but a short, abrupt finish. Maybe would be happy if it was $15-$18. Recorked to see if better the next day.

Improved day 2 and even more on day 3. Recorked each day and placed back in the cellar to stay cool. The greenish qualities, vegetal qualities from day 1 disappeared and by day 3 some decent fruits showed up but still didn't experience the complexity nor the 92 that Parker scored it. Maybe in 2 or 3 years but wouldn't bet big on it.

  • Solid QPR at 22 bucks. It is what it's supposed to be--oaky vanilla with good black fruit. No surprises, but a tasty, soft, easy wine that won't challenge nor disappoint.

  • Second half of the bottle was consumed 3-4 hours after initial opening and was the better for it. This is an 89 right now, but will gain in complexity with another 2+ years in the bottle, when I expect it to drink 1-2 points better than today. Nice job for a $22 wine.

  • After hearing all the hoopla about this particular wine, and the vintage of 2007 overall, I had to offer the Hardin 07 a whirl. Out of the glass comes the nose. Classic California Cabernet Sauvignon with big cassis, subtle alcohol, and oaky tones....Good for me!

After the 1st sip, the wine is a winner. But 2 hours later the wine becomes such a softy...that is loses that Californian complexity I need. I honeslty felt after hours later that I just opened a $10 dollar bottle of Cali Caberbet!

If you like soft and smooth...give it a whirl for no more that $24 bucks. If you want a complex, constant chainging for better Cabernet, by Chappellet Cuvee 2007 and The Sum 2007!

  • Without a doubt the best value out there for a Cali Cab. I'm not sure why this wine has not caught on more, but I'm not complaining b/c I don't want the price to go up. Has the velvet texture of a $50 Cali Cab without oppressive tannins so it will appeal to non-Cabophiles. Grab it when you find it.

  • Pretty straight forward cabernet. Slightly oak, mocha, dark fruit. This was side by side with Maybach 2007 which really wasn't in the same league. Nonetheless trying to be objective it was a decent wine for the price.

  • Nice but! Not the upfront fruit forward cab. I was expecting. Subtle red fruit up front very smooth but a relatively short finish.
    This is ready to go

  • bought 1 bottle. wanted to see what the hoopla was over. well, this is one freaky experience. popped and poured in glass. took a sip....and thought it would be nice but needed time. put glass down, in an hour tried it again. really was a big wine. big fruit; long finish, still too much bite and put it down. an hour later i was drinking something from france. dunno what happened. really a wild ride. i have no idea how to handicap its future. my guess is this is a drink now, decant for 2 hour, funky cab experience, with a little new world & then a little old world along the way.

  • Additional note on my previous review:

Four days later, and this wine had oxidized. Retained some sweet berry and vanilla nose/palate. The '07 Sum (90RP) by 75 Wine Co., originally opened alongside, was showing much better.

  • Nice tart blackberry and raspberry with just a hint of vanilla oak. Sweet and savory at once on the midpalate and finish. Concentrated and full fruits with a hint of celery. Some strong tannins on the lengthy finish. Another great '07 Napa Cab.

Drink now or hold another year or two 90+ -JRS

  • Sweet black fruit nose. Very pretty indeed. The palate has a super refined and semi plush mouthfeel with a creamy edge. Some wonderful black currant with black raspberries and camphor. Some creme de cassis, cherry cola, hints of vanilla and violets. This is long on finish. More than two minutes long. A wonderful acidity that keeps it alive and a tannin base that is pure and elegant. Super refined and expressive to the level of defying its own price-point. This has always been a favorite of mine, and this is the best yet. Wow.
$22 dollars never tasted so good.

  • Color: Deep, dark ruby. Nose: Fragrant aromas of plumb, red and black cherry, raspberry and definitely spice. Pretty nice with lighter fragrances of leather on the tail end. Taste: Stronger flavors of licorice, black fruits, spice, black pepper and a hint of oak. Medium to fuller body. Finish: Smooth but full finish of black fruits, oak, and somewhat integrated tannins with nice acidity. Typical Cali profile in this. NOTE: These notes are from day 2 1/2 in the bottle after an hour decant on day one. Upon opening on day one it was very tight and disjointed. Right now it has held up very well and is showing no signs of being opened too long. A good value for the $21.00 I paid at Winelibrary.com.

  • Opened my first bottle tonight. Very nice cabernet flavors of dark berry, licorice/charcoal and minerals. Lush and full-bodied with a rather round and soft mouthfeel and a medium, fruity finish. Nice flavors, but comes up a bit short in structure for my palate. This is ready to drink now.
