Decant of 3 hours. Really humming. Blackberry and plum dominate both bouquet and flavor. Full bodied without being a fruit bomb. Very well integrated tannins. Probably drinking a peak but no signs of decline in the next 3 years or so. Very good.

PnP over a 2 hour dinner w/friends out at our favorite dive Italian Pizza place.
No formal notes taken, but this bottle is ready for business and considering the 'price for admission' this was an amazing QPR!!
A bit lighter style compared to Mike Smith style cabs, but was the perfect wine to pair with some hearty Italian food, and held its own. Mostly Black and Red fruit, with a great mid and a decent finish.
I did not notice any signs of 'slipage' and think this bottling has a min of another 5+ years, so if you've got'em, in a great drinking window, but no rush to consume!
91-92 (would say a 91+... but considering what food it was up against, think 92 fits)

Not as good as the bottle I had two years ago but still decent. We pnp'd through a vintorio. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, plum and some tree bark which made it kind of tight. The finish was of moderate length.

Still a powerful wine. Rich fruit up front, cherry and plum, good depth and balance with vanilla on the long finish. Only giveaway on the age is smooth tannins. Drinking very well now and probably still has a few more good years.

Nice light hit of fruit on entry—typical cab cassis and, also, some red fruit and I’m thinking plum. Noticeable tannin, although, for the most part I’m saying that the years of sideways have tamed tannin quite a bit. A bit of dustiness mid-palate. Something of a sour or bitter tinge on the rear palate. Nothing to be concerned about, though. Tannin and acid suggest more improvement from additional aging, but I see no downside to drinking now.

Drinking wonderfully. Nose of dark cherry, spices, and a bit of menthol. Firm mid palate fruit and a nice long finish. Just as good on day 2 but ready to go with a minimal (0) decant right now. Turnbull is a great QPR and always hits stride after 5-8 bottle years.

Expressive nose of red fruit and baking spices. Black cherry, dark raspberry, cassis fruit is balanced by light oak and graphite/tar, with hints of nutmeg, allspice, and vanilla bean. Good wine, finish is creamy with well integrated tannins, could use a bit more acidity as the fruit seems a bit flat. Drink now and through 2017.

Cruiserweight of a wine. Not a Heavyweight but has a big enough punch to get your attention. Needs 1 hour minimum decanting and watch out for the sediment. Ripe, dense red and black fruit with raspberry and black cherries dominant. Lacks complexity but still good QPR for Oakville Tannins still present and high alcohol is noticeable (15.5%) Dry, Medium+ finish. Definitely a red meat wine.

Solid Napa cab at a reasonable price. The rich, bold bouquet seems more youthful than the wine's age (8), and the vibrant black currant and licorice on the palate are backed by moderate tannins. Lots of sediment on this one.

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. The body is medium/full. The wine has coarse texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has medium acidity. The wine has lost it s fruit. Very alcoholic (15.5 on the label)

Poured my first glass from my new Coravin. Awesome toy for us winos. Then we opened the bottle, Nose was dark fruit, palate was dark fruit, chocolate, tree bark and fig. Finish was nice. It would have scored higher had we decanted it and not pnp'd after finishing a 2004 Agharta.

A bit of floral on the nose. Very dark, almost inky. Blackberry and black cherries with a hint of something I couldn't identify. Need to decant at least 30 minutes. Nice tannins and acidity. Black cherry finish.

Fifth bottle of this vintage, always enjoyable, benefits from decanting or running through a vinturi. Has a strong nose, needs time to bleed off the alcohol and then settles into a solid, tannin laden experience. Good but not great at this price point, enjoy with food if possible.

Needs 15 min of air. Nice nose. Full bodied with currants, a bit of spice, and good complexity. Paired very well with our steaks, it is a wine that needs a strong food like this. As another reviewer stated, this is very good for the price but it doesn't distinguish itself as much as I would have liked.

Nice cab nose and a nice wine for the price. To me so many Napa Cabs all taste the same now. Soft tannins, accessible early and well made wine but nothing really interesting about them. For me it's harder to find great California Cabs I can really brag about. I would say this is a good wine that fits my frustration with this grape here in my home state. It's a good wine but not great........but then again, what is?

This wine is an absolute bargain when you consider its QPR. It offers a glorious deep burgundy color providing the nose notes of mint, cocoa and pepper. It invites the palate immediately before filling your mouth with dark fruits and fine silky tannins before letting licorice sneak in. It grips your mouth and provides a wonderful lasting finish. This wine performs extraordinarily well and deserves a great deal of attention for those seeking affordability alongside great quality!

Dark garnet with medium viscosity in the glass. Stewed red and dark fruit, oak and spice on the nose. Med-full body and the nose redux on the palate. Secondary cherry skin, clove and licorice. Med-long finish. Decent, but not my thing.

Did a vertical tasting of 2002-2008. 2004 was definitely the best followed by 2002 which was supposed to be past its' drinking window. 2003 brought up the rear, as it was a bad year for Napa Cabernets. The others were very similar, yet also quite different.

This wine is actually drinking really well right now. Beautiful fruit -- plum and cherry I think -- with nice structure and not too tannic. Much better than I remembered it, and more open than the 2006 I drank a week later.

- Crimsom color with medium forming legs. It's somewhat balanced with a medium/full body. Round texture with a medium finish - Nice but could use a bit more aging. Very dark in color with black cherry and some stewed fruit notes as well. Tannins were a bit aggressive but settled down with air and will probably smooth out more with another year in the bottle.

Consistently great QPR for Turnbull Cabs and 2007 is no exception. Dark ruby red color. Big, fruit forward, and while it has the tannins to continue to age, it still is very smooth and easy to drink.

A really very very good and still very young entry level Napa cabernet enjoyed recently at the monthly Hickory Wine Club tasting as part of a young cabernet flite - my WOTF. This wine has a very good QPR and while not as good as the Black Label Turnbull this is actually a much better buy. Highly recommended and this will cellar nicely for at least another decade. A big wine, dark and intense, well structured with still prominent tannins and pure fruit, full bodied with a great long lingering aftertaste. Dark intense almost explosive nose of dark plum, cassis and dust with primary flavors of dark fruit, cassis, loam and a finish of tobacco and smoke. For lovers of big CA cabs you canNOT go wrong with this one and at this price point it will be reasonable on many of the better cellared restaurant menus.

Going to stay consistent with my last score on this Cab from Turnbull. Have always felt they offered alot of Oakville flavor profile for half the price of many others. The price is going up though!! Would still recommend this well balanced effort. Plenty of Oak, but the fruit is well balaced with the alcohol. Just have to ove what they put together from this winery. Drinks like a more expensive bottle.

Decanted almost 2 hrs. ahead. Very deep nearly-opaque garnet color. Nice nose of hard spices, licorice, plums, black cherries. Good on the palate, as depths of flavor swirl around, bringing up sandalwood, cedar, and berry compote. Firm but not overly forbidding acidity keeps the wine approachable. Finishes nicely with licorice notes over moderate tannins. This is an ambitious & well-made wine. Totally drinkable now, it could hold for a few years.

Opened against my better judgment -- the fruit is definitely big, full and dark. Lots of wood and tannins in the background. Actually drinking better than I thought it might, but I'd still like to see how it fairs over the next few years.

Drank too young. Seems promising but there was a bitter edge to it and excessive heat - all of which overwhelmed the fruit. Palate was red fruited and there was cocoa dust and a slight cranberry taste. Got better over 2 hors but not where I hoped. Seems promising though.

Dark, opaque color almost bluish when put up to light. Powdered, raw cocoa with filtered, fine vanilla extract on nose. Blueberry, blackberry & eldeberry - big, ripe fruit on front-end. Medium sweet, with high level of acidity (in a good way) for a cab. Round, medium tannins with 25-second finish. Slight heat on back side, which should diminish with another year or 2 of cellaring. Will buy more immediately at 30.00, can't beat an Oakville cab at this level.

Great Oakville cab. All you could ask for at this price. Beautiful deep color, complex flavors that continued to evolve as we drank and a nice long finish. This wine will continue to age and get even better for many years. Will try to find more of these 07's to lay down as I know the 08's are out now too.

Great classic Cab character. Dark color, full bodied, black cherry, blueberries, some coffee and dark chocolate notes. Tannins evident but not overbearing and some spice. Nice silky finish. Smoother than expected for this age. Drinking well now and probably even better in a couple of years. Will get more.

This is a Screaming Oakville Cab, that can easily take on more expensive NAPA bottles. Year after year, they're consistent in providing a whole lot of bang for the buck. Beautiful deep purple color, with some shine. Nose of crushed black-berry, eucaulytus, cocoa dust, and some vanilla. This translates to a concise fruit profile on the palate, and opens up quite well over 2 hours. I truly appreciate the balance of this wine, and the mouthfeel that coats your entire palate. 45+ second finish. Lovely and brilliant.

On the train with Parker on this one. Turnbull is a $30-40 Cab that drinks like a $60-80 bottle, every vintage. Deep purple in glass, clean rim, bright but rich nose of tar and leather, opens on the palate like a black-fruit pie, then layers flavors of saddle leather, tar and sweet tannins in the mid-palate. Finishes long and lusty. The 2007 is a prime example of this great vintage, and this juice benefits from air. Opens tight on Day One, spectacular on Day Two. Potential for 5-10 years in the bottle, but enjoy its rich fruit flavors while still on the younger side.

This wine was a great surprise! I was not expecting much even though 2007 was a great year for most Napa wineries. Beautiful dark colour. Not decanted.
Nose- Superb Nose; Shades of dust, cedar, dark fruit, dusty oak accents with vanilla.
Taste- Fantastic weight (full bodied) and great concentration. Wow! This great Cab gains complexity and weight with proper airation. Delicious dark fruit character and outstanding acid balance. This wine really reminds me of the 2007 Caymus. Very interesting minerality with shades of oak and tobacco.
Finish_ great long finish keeps pumping great fruit flavors forever.
Overall- Great wine for a great price ($35). A definite notch above your average wine with tons of personality and complexity. Great steal ( 1 point xtra QPR) 92

A big, ripe, forward style, this is deep purple in color, with jammy black fruit, sweet blueberry, new oak, vanilla and bitter chocolate flavors that are concentrated, but feel a bit heavy on the palate, finishing with lots of alcohol and very ripe tannins.

A ripe and heavily concentrated California cabernet. Deep in color with notes of jammy to cooked blackberry and some dark chocolate. A palate of sweet vanilla and round tannins are dominated by a good amount of heat all over the mouth (with perhaps medium-minus acidity).

After a disappointing 2005 (too sweet) and 2006, the 2007 is back to its 2004 greatness, so I'll just repeat my note about the delicious 2004: Hands down the best QPR cab around. Everything that a New World cab should be (decant for a couple of hours)

2007 Napa Cabs $20 to $40ish: Took some time to open. The nose has cassis and alcohol. Somewhat jammy. Sweet on the palate and with a harsh component. The fruit seems a bit cooked. Lots of tannins. Slightly bitter on the finish. It was interesting, but left me thinking it could have been better.

Really enjoyed the first glass of this and then it started to get a cloying. Certainly fruit-forward, as stated in prior notes. Too sweet, too much oak, but definitely drinkable. Got a little hot and lost coherence as the night wore on. To be fair, not my style. Bottom line: enjoyed it, but there is better stuff out there for $30 (for example, several recent Ridge Zins come to mind).

I had this at the Wine House Cabernet tasting last Sunday against everything from Quintessa to Caymus SS. For once I agree w Wine Advocate. A SOLID effort once again from Turnbull, bouncing back from a sub par 06 and bringing back fond memories of the 04 Cab. The mouth feel was outstanding, crushed rocks and berries with a nice floral nose. Well worth the arund $30 price point tat I'm about to go pay for 6 for the cellar!
