Gereiftes Rubin, deutlich Trübstoff. Gereifte Nase, etwas Waldboden, reife, rote Frucht, warm anmutend. Im Gaumen mit deutlicher Reife, die Säure ist zupackend, sehr markant, knackig, rotfruchtig, jedoch nicht so lang anhaltend wie in grossen Jahren. Trinken.

Planning Session III (Chloe by Vincent, Mpls): Murky medium dark red color. Drank a glass over an hour plus. Tart cherry, cranberry, murky, tobacco leaf, becomes more earthy with air, great Gevrey spice notes emerge, deep, fairly intense with more acidity. I do get a touch of brown sugar on the nose after an hour or so. 92+pts.

Another good vintage of Fourrier Combe aux Moines, my favorite wine in Fourrier’s lineup. Currently batting #2 in my regular lineup, so happened to be the regular batting order of Shohei Ohtani.

C & YM Birthday Dinner (Empire Chinese Cuisine): 3 hrs after pouring to Voss bottle. Alluring aroma of potpourri, blueberry, cold fruits, on the palate a little weak after the stunning bouquet. Full dry and coarse tannins with high acid. Give additional points for the beautiful nose but sadly the palate did not match up. Needs a few more years of age.

Birthday celebration for C/Y: Fourrier is one producer that has such a strong imprint that it’s possible to call blind - said that this was a ‘06 or ‘08 Fourrier Gevrey. A little of the ‘08 screechy acid but with the lifted fruit signature and spice of Fourrier. A little astringent, didn’t have the energy and delineation of the best vintages, but still very enjoyable.

Nick's 2008 Burgundy - Noize (Noizé, London): 1/12. Nose shows pure red fruit - satrwberries, floral notes, touch of spice. Medium bodied, fresh and vibrant, spice, touch of savour, some grip on the good length finish. Excellent, certainly drinking.

2008 red Burgs (Noize): Flamboyant and a bit heady on the nose, with an exotic feel, fresh red fruit and some orange rind and rose... it smelled pretty great. Then more '2008' on the palate, which was sharp and lithe, with the flavour of cough sweets and a slightly tight and astringent side.

Excellent aromas of ripe red berry fruits with a good earthy element. On the palate very tart and citric that overwhelms any nuance and clashes hard against the impressive underlying fruit qualities. Based on other notes here wonder if this is just a weird bottle. At best, this still needs time to integrate as unpleasant today. Admittedly, this was popped and poured. Will cork it, fridge it & try again tomorrow.

A year since we had this last (Papies 91) and indeed has Improved and on top of that we decided to decant which definitely helped opening up the wine. Still this has a few more years before reaching full capacity. Very elegant wine, properly well made according to the pedigree, firm but also with a soft feel, red fruited, soft smoky edge light spice. What Proper red Burgundy needs to be . We have one last bottle and this we will wait a few more years before before opening. 93

Opened and served. Andreas who had this blind went originally for a fresh 10yr old Syrah from Rhone valley , guessing from our inventory this was the 2007 St Joseph from Chave. Such was the spice in this ! Fresh and felt really cool climate , soft too but quite the fresh and youthful wine . Definitely a good amount of oak albeit not toasty , was used here and the wine albeit good felt a touch one dimensional and lacking complexity for the pedigree. We have 2 more and these we will forget for 5yrs minimum. 91 for now

SLDS December 21: Violets, smoke, red berries. Red fruit profile but it ends up a bit tough with an acid hardness taking the focus. Might improve, might not.

A wine we feel rocks between 92-93 and is in a very pretty state and full of elegance and charm at this stage. This time we had it o the back of the 99 Serafin CC ( Papies 95) and thus showed a much younger and bright fruit side . Still very polished and round and really at the start of its drinking window and with a lot of charm to come for those patient enough. 92-93

Even better than the bottle we had 2 weeks ago ( Papies 92). This is what burgundy dreams are made of if a way, elegant, lovely dark edge to the fruit, soft spice and smoky but above all very elegant and with a persistence on the palate. Very very good and with lots of life ahead , frankly this has just entered its drinking window. 93

At the start of its drinking window albeit well within it and these 2008s feel even more approachable than his 2007s. Softer and elegant very much welcoming and subtle. Soft red fruit with an undertone of Gevrey dark and smoky edge but really now what rules the show is a soft red fruit soft spice and quite a savory wine. Very solid 92 for now but with lots of future here

96/01/08/13/14 Vertical. Star of the showing and a bottle that is in peak form. Fully, intense nose of red and black cherry with a prominent Gevrey meaty spice throughout. Refined, lacy cherry fruit that is perhaps a bit more Chambolle in texture. Long, flavorful finish.

Pretty awesome. All the right notes, but a bit young, a bit marked by the vintage. I'm guessing this gets better from here, but likely not going to make (very) old bones despite the acid.

Light garnet, shiny and light color. After a bit of aeration, expressive nose of red fruit, mint, subtle spices, very nice. Cool and elegant on the palate. Excellent aromatic depth, very drinkable with great balance and acidity. Tannins now also dissolved, fresher than the 2009. Great, elegant Burg. Wow, Jean-Marie Fourrier is a star.

Wow... what an incredibly beautiful, weightless wine. Complex notes of cool red currant, minerality (like crushed rocks and steel), mint, sweet herbs and menthol. Constantly changing in the glass, it has lower medium body, pretty high acidity and medium-high tannin that is super quality. An excellent, cool, fresh and weightless Combes aux Moines. Super pure fruit, the house style is coming through beautifully. Absolutely love it.

Dark red ruby color. Nose full of redcurrant, cherries and a hint of an animal note. Palate has the well known acidic backbone of the vintage. A lot of it too. But the wine is strong and carries the acidity well. Lots of power and depth and a crispy clear refreshing mouthfeel. Good, but the acidity is almost overwhelming for me. Tannins too.

On nose dark well ripe berries. Herbs, hints of lactic acid (malo). Nice nose that evolves constantly. Typical Gevrey aromas.
Bodied in the mouth, nice length. Some powerful tannins that dries in the front of your mouth. Pretty strong acid, typically '08, which makes it work much back in the jaw / molars.
50 + 5 + 13 + 15 + 7 = 90p.

Shutting down. Clean nose. Touch garnet in color. After waiting about 30 minutes the nose is still fairly rustic and shut down. After 2 hours and a decant it opens up, but not much. A more distinc berry flavour than before, some dark cherries and some wood and undergrowth. Super tight on the palate, touch unripe tannins that cuts the finish short of fruit. Needs time, I think it's shutting down.

Soft cork. A nose with a lot of stem inflections ('04-esque, I suppose you could say) as well as a hint of vanilla extract and sweet red berries. Some stony minerality on the palate. Definitely one of the lither '08s I've had, this gets significantly better with air. Lots of tart and light red fruit with young and coarse tannins. Quite excellent.

2011 Casual Session - 18 @ Jade Palace (Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant, The Forum Shopping Mall, Orchard Road): Alcohol :: 13.5% Bright ruby red. Not really expressive but this is intense and focus with aromas of fresh mint, star anise, roast meat intermixed with red, black cherry as well as earth, really not bad for such a young wine. Still pretty tight despite opened for 5hrs, decanted for 1.5hrs, in fact, it almost shut down at the end of the dinner. A bit austere, but the mouth feel is enormous. very well balance, with good purity and expansive mouth feel that showed off the bright red cherry fruits sweetness that buffer off the high acidic backbone with touch of earth and meatiness that supported by very fine tannin that has almost completely absorb by the concentration. Long finish with orange aftertaste. 88-90
