Closed down and walled-in in its youth, this wine has opened up nicely. Solid Napa fruit in a big frame with enough acidity to move things along. Purportedly from the Palisades Vineyard.

nice but not showing much. smooth tannins, vanilla. would hold for a bit to see if anything extra shows up. but if you want to pop now, it is enjoyable, but not sublime.

Purple rim, deep and dark red at the center Pepper, capsicum on the nose, softening at the end On palate soft and round at first, then comes a firm tannin grip and a strong sensation on the palate. Well balanced, went well with the deer steak.

dark ruby, strong nose of cherry, blackberry. Dry, tannic, oak over shadows fruit at this point on the PnP. Bold red fruits of berries and currants, needs some time for the tannns to mellow, strong acids for balance, just a bit young, better with food.

Opened up for dinner tonight with Jeff Pitcher. Not a big petite fan, but this was better than others. Lots of back fruits. Formal notes to come later.

Dark inky with dark blackberry fruit that stain your stain and show the depth of this wine. Needs to be decanted for a while and was better the second day, has a lot of years left to get better.

14.9% ABV. Pretty inky in the glass. Somewhat closed smelling, but with a little coaxing blackberry fruit and a touch of graham cracker. This smells like Petite Sirah. Full bodied with chewy tannins and black fruit. This bottle seemed a little more in need of time than the previous, but still not bad.

Glass staining blood red. Nose is a bit muted with some mint, chocolate liquor and blueberry syrup. Some heat as well. In the mouth it's simple and, surprisingly, shows medium heft. The alcohol quite present on the nose is strangely non-obtrusive on the palate. But the finish is short and this one is just not terribly interesting. It started off better and declined with air.

14.9% ABV. Inky dark garnet in the glass. Reticent blackberry and spice. Maybe a hint of graham cracker. Rich with ripe black fruit. Pretty much full bodied with tannins that are soft but lend a slightly chewy mouthfeel. Finishes with a slight tang and slightly grittier tannins. I've got leftovers to come back to, but this struck me as a nice wine and a pretty good value.

quite big and dense...some spiciness on the nose...pouring through an aerator, and ultimately, a good bit of decanting helped soften the tannins..oak showing through on the finish...the fruit seems to be in hiding today.

Popped and poured. A curious green peppermint on the nose. A distinct chocolate flavor...in fact, whatever the chocolate liqueur is...this wine has some in it. Odd. A little too funky flavor profile, for my taste, but not wrong or bad.

Lovely nose of black cherry with hints of eucalytus; rich black fruit flavors. Wish I'd bought more.

What a difference a year makes! Gorgeous nose, silky smooth. Ready now. Not overly tannic. One of the best CH deals to date.

Huge wine. Needs more time. Will blossom into a 91-92 pt wine. Rating is based on current enjoyment. Best to forget about this one for a few years.
