This wine has a nose of crisp apple and peach. The high residual sugar is delightful on the palate and one can easily polish off the 350ml bottle without even realizing it! Nexcellent!

Much more botrytis type flavors in this than in other vintages of this that I have had (2011, 12, 13), despite there being no botrytis involved. Orange marmalade, apricot, key lime pie, honey, toffee. Nice crisp acidity balances the high sugar level and viscosity. Lovely long finish.

Similar favorable impressions to those offered in a prior tasting note by thelostverse; "Nice viscosity with hints of citrus and apricot. Not overly sweet or cloying. Very nice."

Nice dessert wine without the bracing acidity. Notes of honey and tropical fruit. Lacks the depth that a fine German has. I liked this slightly better than the 2001 and the equal of the 2002. 89-90 points.

2009 Joseph Phelps Eisrébe Ice Wine Medium bright yellow. Nose opens with a cross between lemon and key lime pie. Flavors mimic the nose. Very original. Lots of lemon curd and lime pie filling, some honey, a little white peach and pineapple. Wonderful acid to fruit balance. One of the better dessert wines we have had from California. Different in a great way. Leaves a clean refreshing taste in your mouth. The sweet citrus finish leaves you wanting more. Layers and layers of flavors. For this price I had high expectations and happily they were met. Highly recommended. Day 2, still drinking perfectly. It was brought to my attention that this wine is marketed as an Ice Wine, but actually the grapes are frozen after they are harvested. Regardless, it is still a complex, wonderful wine that is a pleasure to drink.

Served with a Strawberry layer cake after grilled lamb and Mondavi Reserve. This ice wine shows flavors of Apricot and pear with a beautiful smooth and richness. Those light white fruits did go well with the cake.

Flavorful and well-rounded. Apricot and honey. It will last for several years yet. It is not past its peak.

Good but not as memorable as some Canadian Ice wines I have had the pleasure to consume.

Joseph Phelps Insignia Vertical 2008>1994 with Robert Baxter (Handford Wines, London): Light yellow in colour. Quite a bit of residual sugar. Some fizz on the palate. Lots of presence on the palate and although not overly complex it has a good 2minute finish to it. Interesting. 91
