My first bottle of the 2023 disgorgement, from May. This is the 100% Chard wine without dosage. 50% reserve wine, not sure of the base year. I opened this yesterday and at that time my perceptions were of a disgorgement that was more acidic but less complex than the best disgorgements. Very distinctly anchored by a pink grapefruit, with lemon pith, mango and tangy peach. Revisiting today, plenty of powdered rock aroma today, plus a citrus rind. Love the smell of the wine, for sure. The pink grapefruit note hangs in the core of the wine, and I do think in total that this is a more gentler version of this cuvee, highlighting more stone fruit and mango, a moderately complex version that works.

This bottle is right on point tonight. Toasty lemon curd and crushed white rock, both rich and generous on the nose. Zero austerity here, the palate again reflects sweet yellow citrus following to a medium chalky finish. Great.
Very yeasty/doughy. Apple, pear, lemon up front. Huge amount of bubbles on opening but they all disappeared very quickly and the remains in the glass have none to speak of. Finish is a bit shorter than I remember and I can’t understand why I rated the previous as highly as I did. This is a very nice Blanc de Blancs though. Crisp and clean and simple. A nice alternative to the big houses.

New Years Eve Champagne. Yellow apples and some fudge. Rounded acidity and soft mousse. (No formal notes taken, just enjoyed.) Base wine from 2017 with 50% reserve wine from 2015 and 2016. No dosage. Deg 11/2019.

Consumed as part of a blind tasting pitching an Australian sparking (Lethbridge Nadeson Collis NV against grower Champagne. THis is alos my first ever grower Champagne so was wanting to see if grower Champagne meets the hype.
Pastry, dough smell. Clean, ‘standard’ Champagne flavours. Wouldn’t personally have thought it any different to any other Champagne I can recall. Nothing wrong with it, but equally given the hype over the years about grower Champagne really didn’t feel any difference from other many other non-grower Champagnes.
Lemon compote, white minerals, fresh croissants, and mascarpone on an attractive nose. Proper bdb acidity and a sharp bead. Well balanced and attractive, great nature for the price.

The old ugly label...no info on label that I can see...probably at least 11yrs after DG...100% Chard, no dose, 40-50% reserves juice...brilliant shiny golden, slight green tinge color...subtle nose of Krug-ish good ox...caramel apple, lemon curd, pie crust, sea air...HOLY COW in the mouth...BRIGHT and ZINGING with lemon tarts and sour apple pop rocks! Unbelievable burst of freshness... then a calm of light and delicate ginger marsala mousse coats the palate...super balance with some yeast and brioche...pretty blossom florals...slight aged nuances of dried honey, marsala creme, salted hazelnuts...but still quite youthful and in tip top shape. VERY surprised and kind of in shock with this bottle...it is amazing right now! Tells me I need to hold(and buy more) of the current pretty labelers a LOT longer. And if you see this one in the wild...don't let the ugly label fool ya!

November 2022 disgorgement. Consistent with this disgorgement and my other bottles--citrus peel, mineral, kumquat, grapefruit and green apple. Has the intensity I like, along with the acid and tactile imprint that gives the wine the energy.

Amazing BdB from Laherte and it really punches above it's weight. Spoke to a friend who gifted me a couple bottles and we agreed we have to stock up on some more.
It's just so well composed. Mature fruits and even some more exotic fruits to it, while the acidity keeps everything in check. I however decided with this acidity to open my next one in 5 years. I think it needs to be tamed just a little more.
If you search you'll find this at 35€. That's a steal.

Vinous and mineral on the nose, featuring bright fruit and cheese rind. Very complex on the palate - lactic, slate-y with notes of melon rind. The acidity is more of a broadsword than a scalpel - not quite incisive, but noticable. Riper than expected.
Finished very long and mineral.
Has evolved significantly over the ~day it was open. Was likely most enjoyable with ~4 hours of air in the bottle.

November 2022 disgorgement. Lemony with a floral citrus aroma. Green apple, kumquat and light mineral. Juicy and a touch creamy against the minerality. I love this cuvee...of note, with plenty leftover from last night, retasting today without food and without any other wines (we had several out last night) So, I'm gonna get another view, maybe some new perspective with this retaste. As steely lemon, the citrus feel of it is keenly bright. There's a spearmint here, maybe more accurately a lemongrass, the marriage of that minty profile with the lemon. Juicy, with a grapefruit pith and some pear. As this finishes, some orange flesh comes through the wine, closing with a steely note. What this mine consistently for me is great energy, with texture and fantastic value. This bottle got lost last night amongst all the CA Pinot Noir, and I'm glad as I get 2 more nights to enjoy it!

Family Holidays; 7/28/2023-9/10/2023 (Alicante - España): By the glass. Worked in biodynamic. Partially fermented in wood tonnel, which highlights its vinous character. Aromas of bergamot oil on the nose along with verbena soap and jasmine flower. Beautiful complexity. On the palate it is less light than expected, full-bodied BdB, fully mineral especially at the end, wide and tense. From Chavot, firmly.

Light brassy color. Nose is light, and apple-dominated. On the palate, this is light bodied, dry, and crisp; flavors of lemon, ginger, and chalk. Another excellent bottle of this wine.

Citrus oil and rocks on the nose, more pronounced lemon on the palate. As it warms up there's less fruit and minerality and the yeastier notes start to come out. Leaner than the ultradition, this is maybe better suited for a nice dinner than a party. Really impressed by the entry level bottlings from laherte freres, I'll definitely be on the lookout for more.

Clear pale gold colour, dry fine mouse, lively wine in the glass. On the nose picking up brioch white peach, yeast - zero dosage but ripeness of fruit comes through to balance the natural sweetness of the wine. Reminds me of many elements of vintage champagne with yeast brioche and toast. Long dry finish. Wine of the night in a BdB line up.

This one was fairly austere. The attack was lemon with bracing acidity. The fruit profile was very light and the body was light. Knows how to little herbal pop. Just okay considering the others online up. It was a nice one with the cheese.

Paul's Annual Champagne Tasting (2023 edition, all from Magnum) (At Paul's Place): October 2021 disgorgement, no dosage, 100% Chard. As with past bottles, this was more powerful and crisp when cold, then more relaxed when lightly chilled. When cool, this is a lot of lemon peel, supported by apple and crushed rock, a slate-like note. The apple then shifts to yellow fruited, with stone fruit. I consistently like this wine for its freshness, and again this bottle showed the same quality.

10/2019 disgorgement. Some savory notes accompany the citrus fruit on the nose: a touch of toasted nuts. The palate is light and fresh, with age toning down the brightness and snap a bit. Drinking very well.

I like this more than the Ultradition we had a few weeks ago. This is more citrus and mineral where that one showed more appley. Oddly, I believe that one was extra brut, and it showed richer and rounder, and this is brut and it seems more lean and austere. I like this one though, and I will buy it again.
8/2021 disgorgement date. Very pretty nose of lemon, a hint of apple and brioche. Bone dry as I’d expect, tart tart lemon lime, charming foam, long tart finish with a crystal of saline. A good champagne, but not special. Very enjoyable high acid style but I’m not sure it’s worth the price relative to other high $50s Champagnes. I like the vintage offerings better for a pretty small premium.
Bought this today and decided, what the hell, let's take it to dinner. Celebrated 23 years of marriage today with my wife, I'm damn lucky. This is the November 2022 disgorgement, and it continues to remain consistently good. Still under $50 US for 100% no dose Chardonnay that is farmed organic. Impressive how Aurelien Laherte keeps cranking out such great quality for the price. There was just a touch of austerity in this bottle, exhibited by some citrus pith character. Just enough to show up in the palate, yet as a contributing quality. And to me this disgorgement seems more refined, the acidity brightening with air, but like the pith note, it's in balance with the wine. Pippin apple and lemon, with some tangerine, which I don't recall in past disgorgements. Just enough of it here to play a supporting role. Finishes with fennel and some light minerality. People talk about a house wine, and this could be mine as it's a great bottle year after year.

Dec. 2020 disgorgement, which I think makes this 2017 base. Still solid, but not up to the typical level of this cuvee, a little on the light side. Bright citrus and green apple fruit, dry, fine mousse, nice earthiness, but lacking concentration.

Disgorged 02-22, cork shot out as I was removing the wire. Stayed in the cage though, no dent in the ceiling. First pour at cellar temp (49°) Quick whiff of crescent roll dough and white peach. Up front the mouse is broad and persistent, tart green caramel apple, followed by lemon/lime/grapefruit, but it has a creamy texture. After a little swirling it’s practically a still wine, the finish sporting a little more dough but also a mineral presence. Wondering about the disappearing act by the bubbles. As subsequent pours approach room temp a little nuttiness comes to the forefront the palate is still broad but the acidity is intense and hurts my teeth a bit. No more swirling, bubbles intact. I like this but finish is almost too austere. Almost.

Pnp at sushi restaurant with dollar store glasses. I'm not getting a ton on the nose, but with these glasses I'm not surprised. Maybe getting a little citrus but not identifiable beyond that. Good mousse and carbonation... not overpowering but very present.
On the palate this really shined with lemon dominating and perhaps a hint of biscuit with great (not overwhelming) acidity. It was definitely dry but not unpleasantly so, and was a perfect pairing for sushi. This wine begs for food pairing; not sure how much I would have enjoyed this on its own.
I haven't always been sold on zero dosage champagne, but this is changing my mind. A bit sad to see only one bottle left. Looking forward to another tasting when glassware is more suitable.

Another bottle of the October 2021 disgorgement. I'm a big fan of this cuvee. The price, the expression, it's awesome. Little bit of white flower aroma with bread dough. Creamy green apple, grapefruit, concentrated lime, mineral and this bottle has a light touch of caramel. When I went to get a bottle from the cellar tonight to go with dinner, I went for this cuvee as it consistently is just gold....sampled more the following day, and I like this even more than yesterday. There is a concentration of flavor and depth to the wine that is impressive. Small sips, just kept enjoying it, all of the flavors working together. The value on these remains remarkable, and it's time to go source some more as I am again down to one bottle. Awesome stuff.

Pale yellow/straw. Minerals, citrus, apples, lots of brioche and peanuts. Palate is bone dry with very high acidity and minerality, lemons, tart granny smith apples. Finishes somewhat long with chalk and a block of salt. It feels like it's missing something. I just wonder how much better this might be with a touch of dosage.

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted non-blind over 4 hours -- -- August 2021 disgorgement -- -- Dosage advertised as being in the 0 - 5 g/L range --
NOSE: expressive; very chalky and high-toned; crisp; a tad vinous.
BODY: medium-light yellow colro; initially, the bead was extremely active, but it dissipated to nearly nothing over 2 hrs; light bodied.
TASTE: acidic, oceanic, and intensely flavored (but not-at-all heavy) --- wow! chalky lemon; it took no more than one sip to know I love this! 12.5% alc. not noticeable; 100% Chardonnay; fermented and aged in oak barrels for 7 mos; this did seem to recede over a couple of hours, becoming increasingly austere and less fruit with air, and developing a leesy-type note at about the 3 hr. mark. Drink or Hold --- I get the sense this would benefit from at least a couple years laying down. Will buy again. Excellent bottle of affordable bubbles here.

always in love for this NV BdB.. I served it unfortunately too cold (about 2-3 degrees C) and I needed to wait that the wine warmed up so to let him express properly on the nose. I would say the nose was exactly the most pleasant experience of the tasting and pairing with a Sushi dinner. almost golden colour (disgorgement 2018) on the nose notes of brioche, vanilla, red apple, melon and pineapple in the mouth fine perlage, very creamy, still the red apple together with grape fruit and some wild berries, more powerful than precise but in any case lovely stuff!! ;) long finish on the notes of lemon zest and minerals

More of the October 2021 disgorgement, without dosage, farmed organic (probably some bio-d focus too although I am not certain it's in this blended cuvee). This is drinking terrific, has a more gastronomic signature. Ginger and lime flesh aromatic. Plenty of lemon rind, lime, grapefruit and some tangerine. There is some almond and saline too. Where the gastronomic piece comes through is the citrusy, salinity profile. Like the 2012 Godme Millesime from last weekend, it kinda rolls like that wine, just without that wine's wet stone note, as the salinity here is dominant. Yet, both cleansing, precise, vivid. This most recent batch of these was $43 with just a couple bucks each for shipping. Such a killer deal, and looking back, I shoulda asked for 3 more than I did. Consistently a great cuvee, a real favorite of mine.

Nice qpr. Healthy acid, flavor, and verve. Fizzy, a bit much for me but it worked with the crunchy fried chicken and creamy mac and cheese (fancy, I know). Not super elegant or delineated palate but enjoyable with food nonetheless. One more bottle and will try on its own or with less fatty food in search of more precision.

disgorged May 2014. Oldest bottle of this Cuvee I’ve had, it carries a nice richness that gives it good weight. The acid I assume it had in youth has mellowed and mixed with a nice semi sweet apple and hazelnut note. Fun to try older NV bottles of a producer I absolutely love current releases from, and gotten for a very good deal, I’ll keep on the lookout for similar going forward.

This is my first go with the October 2021 disgorgement, and still being able to find this cuvee for less than $50 US makes me happy, too. Opened this yesterday so drinking over two days to have the gift of air and two different contexts to measure the wine. This disgorgement has something different going on. The apple character seems brassy and lightly oxidized, and the fruit has an interesting lime impression along with some grapefruit and a saline finish. This is how I would describe the wine with chill. After I let it warm up, then the apple note recedes and the lime, pear and saline are more prominent. Texturally, I have never found this wine to lack for fruit or roundness, even with the dosage absent, and with this disgorgement that consistency is here. Just overall, a consistently delicious Champagne, farmed organic and priced very fair.

Piercing acidity, spicy ginger notes, bone dry. Not very fruity, lots of minerality and plenty of Champagne 101 bread notes. Good stuff, but really would benefit from a little bit of dosage. This way finishes a bit short.

This was fantastic off the bat, bright, minerally yet clean, taught, crisp with good sourdough character, lemon squeeze, saline. Excellent for a starter champers, with cleaner slightly briney oysters. The Billecart NFB 2007 was impressive but went better with richer, buttery and stronger flavored oysters like the Pacific Kiss. Watergrill w/T This was a 92 for starters, but then lost some of its luster after a while and the palate adjusted to the Billecart.

We went through multiple bottles of this off a restaurant menu. Fantastic with our seafood tower. Crisp, zero dosage, toast, apples, pear, citrus, acid and mineral.

4/19 disgorgement. Similar showing to my note on the same disgorgement from December 2021. I noticed this time that the effervescence seemed to fade somewhat rapidly in the glass, leaving the wine mainly still. It's tasty that way too, but worth noting.

I opened this over the weekend and three of us crushed it before the afternoon was over. No notes, just sipped and enjoyed it and when this finally went still, it was composed, underpinned with plenty of flavor from pear and apple, and just delicious. I did notice a small zing of austerity from the zero dose but I made a mental note and kept going, as this helped to complement the fruit. I'm again out of this wine, but I am going to reload this week. Like the Rose de Meunier EB (which we also had open), both of these wines show a consistency that I appreciate.

Sep 2021 Disg. Elegant, cool and clean. Ample fruit that belies the brut nature. It shows good finesse and structure, a taut lemon and citrus with a brioche note. It's a good value and just seems more complete when compared to the UM next to it.

Disgorged 11-2020. Fermented and aged 7 months in oak barrels, no dosage. Somehow this wine always show a density and roundness despite the lack of dosage, maybe because of the oak? Plenty of acid and mineral grip as well. Delicious as always.

DG 09/2002 Possibly a bit too cold yet but nose of preserved lemon, candied sugar. Palate is lemony and and limey with crushed limestone and underripe mango. It’s nice but maybe not quite life-changing. Really strong acidity and a long round finish. Probably would have benefited from some rich fatty food.
May 2021 disgorgement. Low/no dosage. Dry, nicely crisp and minerals throughout. I get brioche and toasty flavors, balanced with apple and some lemon. Nice energy.

A private lunch (Restaurant Breda, Amsterdam, NL): From four villages on the Coteaux Sud d'Epernay and the Côte des Blancs, vines > 35 years old, spontaneous fermentation and ageing in older barriques with regular bâtonnage, partlal malo, 50% vin de réserve, bottled unfiltered, disgorged July 2021, no dosage.“Révéler la mineralité de nos terroirs” is the motto of the maison, and that is exactly what this Brut Nature does. The chalky soils really shine through on the nose in this linear and direct wine, the palate is crisp and very dry, with floral notes and tart citrus on the finish.

From memory. Disgorged December 2020. This is an older disgorgement than my very recent recent note by six months. The cork is noticeably different. Though are agglomerates they have different markings, and one is much smaller than the other (I forgot which). I should have asked Aurélien about that in the WB Zoom call but it seemed too prosaic at the time. Now I'm left to wonder.
On to the wine. Somewhat fewer bubbles than my last tasting. Same brioche profile but much saltier to the point that on some draughts I noticed the saltiness before the brioche. So this bottle seems more typically non-dosage than the other one based on how Frank M3 defines the telling characteristics of that style.
This was ready to drink as opposed to my earlier bottle which I think might have been too young.

Disgorgement date of 03 2020. Opened with a slight lemony taste, but also an oxidized or yeasty aroma and taste that persisted over the next 1 hr+ and more or less overpowered the other flavors. Great mousse; nice acidity; very dry. The yeasty/oxidized note is not my preferred champagne profile and maybe an off bottle.

4/19 disgorgement. Some yeastiness on the nose gives way to prominent notes of crushed stone along with a touch of lemon rind. A fine mousse on the palate and savory mineral flavor. The acid is bright but not searing, and balanced well by the dry extract. Satisfying if not complex finish. This is delightful.

3L Nice acidity, but fewer bubbles than I expected. Yeast in check, as expected. Cork very tight and broke off when I tried to open, which killed some of the excitement. Eventually opened with a corkscrew, which scared the **** out of me. Still, nice Champagne and a big hit with our crowd. Fun.

Served to me blind. Disgorged March 2021, from a buddy's cellar who also bought into the same parcel we purchased last month. This bottle showed a dried herb aroma, reminding me a lot of Benoit Marguet's wines, so I put this on Pinot Noir initially. After a few tastes, I scribbled out 'soft but generous' with salty and savory, so I am again thinking Marguet from a richer vintage. Moderate acidity with strawberry, crushed up yellow apples (akin to apple sauce). This bottle was dynamite and convinced me to source a few more here shortly, as it's just showing really well.

A reload as I ran out, this batch has a new disgorge date of March 2021. I don't see any other TNs on this disgorgement, but there are a lot of notes without a disgorge date. As a side note, if we're ever as a community going to be able to compare equal things, then we need info with these notes. So, if your bottle has a disgorge date, please, enter it. 100% Chard. This disgorgement seems a bit more stern than the 2020 disgorgement I had finished up...more structured and intense. Opened yesterday so it's even had some additional time open (kept under stopper overnight). Aromatics of citrus pith and crushed rocks. Lemon with salty pear and apple, with a spicy anise wrapped around the fruit. This does add some texture, some flesh as it warms up yet the wine doesn't shed the structure and salty fruit that seems to be its personality right now. In candor, I prefer right now the Rose de Meunier bottles that I also recently picked up. As for this disgorgement of BdB Nature, give it air and probably more time, too.

Forgot to note the disgorgement. I'm always impressed at how this wine manages to be so friendly for a Brut Nature, with sufficient richness to the fruit to buffer the acid. Not as much concentration or power as the previous bottle, but still delicious with good chalky bite.

Pale gold, light mousse. Briny nose, hint of sulfur. Early green apple and lemon acidity with saline/mineral/gravel. Super dry, subtle flavors. The texture is incredible, subtle body with bright effervescence. Melon and underlying chard flavors became more present as we went along. Missing a bit of yeasty/toastiness, but otherwise good quality and a major crowd pleaser.

Second of two. 100% Chard, no dosage, disgorged March 2020. As a reinforcer, these are $42 US locally and to me that represents a killer value. I opened this about 30 mins ago and poured off a few ounces to try. Drinking great plenty of texture. Poured a few more ounces to write this note, tasting the wine at about 71f. Aromas of chalk, brine, sea air and citrus peel...sounds like Chablis, doesn't it! The palate is brisk with snappy green apple, lemons and mineral. As the wine settles, there is a citrusy tanginess that lifts the palate, joined by a honeyed apple too. This bottle reminds me a lot of Chablis, with plenty of energy. Delicious.

Short note - brioche, cocoa, greene apples, lime, well structured and balanced, medium complex and medium finish, very drinkable and affordable champagne. Very good quality 89p

The Laherte Frères is intensely dry, bright fizz. Notes of of meyer lemon and white chalk predominate. It's not particularly food-friendly, but enjoyable enough for an afternoon refresher on a hot summer day.

Very sleek and intensely mineral wine. It has that initial bolt of iron that tastes like pennies but also has the crushed rock mineral texture throughout. Delicious flavors of fresh squeezed lime juice, grapefruit pith and star fruit mix with yeasty brioche and roasted nuts. Lively but not overwhelming bubbles and a long clean finish. This was very good but I think served a bit too warm when I had it outside, so I might like my next bottle more.

Mouth: A steely, mineral driven version, this shows light lemon curd notes up front together with butter brioche on the midpalate for just a moment before a sharp minerality takes over, driving on with a lemon juice spine. Ends on a bitter quinine note, which isn't bad on its own, but is a bit of an odd place for everything to end..
Overall: Even knowing this is a single vineyard blanc de blanc, the price is pretty decoupled from the quality it shows. There are a lot of high-firing champagnes at the $60+ level, and this doesn't quite show the same level of fruit development and balance as others. Could serve as a fine aperitif wine, or something to go with seafood, but even there the pricetag seems too high to be worth. Drink now - 2028.

Bien.

Disgorgment March 2020. Found this on the shelf at the local market, and decided to give it a spin...Found this surprisingly easy on the palate. It is almost deceptively so, as there is some complexity of stonefruit, citrus, mineral, matchstick and breadiness with a creamy finish. Quite nice and deceptively easy. It's worth getting more if available at less than the high price that I paid. Excellent.

Disgorged 3/20...explosion of energy right out the gate! Tart lemon pop rocks burst in the mouth, tickling the taste buds, puckering the palate...then a calm rushes in...a pillow soft ginger lemon chiffon mousse calms the bubble party down to a tolerable level, where the contemplation takes place. The partial malo adds a wonderful creme and balance to the acid bomb attack of the non dos...the aged lees treatment really shows gorgeous brioche and yeast...little match strike, mint...that adds well to the saline crushed minerals and ginger spice. The fruit is sappy orchard, with purity, some tropical as well...white flower florals and a little almond liqueur round out the pleasure. This bottle seems creamier and in more harmony than the first bottle I had last month. Just amazing purity and precision in this wine...rippin energy...and showcases a great winemaking talent. Love this wine!

Dis. 11/2019. Best nose I've had on a champagne under $80. You get the toasted brioche, then peach that opens to a little bit of chalk. On the palate it is sharp, slightly tart but focused. Slightly racy, but nothing as polarizing as some of the other growers (which also leads me to believe that time will help but not to the extent of a Bereche, per se, where the lack of mal and focus on acidity provide great potential with time) Picking at straws, the finish seemed slightly extracted (would've preferred something more precise and with more finesse, but maybe a little time in bottle will help if you don't drink all of the bottles before then). Either way great champagne for the price that you can't go wrong with
Edit: I've had a chance to try a lot more growers since this review and while the nose is still very nice for the price range, there are definitely options that match or surpass on the nose for sub-$80, don't know if those will stay there for long though and doesn't take away from the fact that this is still a solid wine

Thanks Nate and Michelle for a delicious champagne. Tons of tiny bubbles and medium golden yellow. Well rounded nose with a hint of butter, apples, mango and light minerality. Medium acidity (6/10) with a medium body. Lengthy finish with a crisp palate, apples and gravel. Drink till 2028.

Needs time to open up, lighter airier style compared to their the Ultradition Meunier bottling. Straightforward and food friendly wine, high acid and cut but I think the Ultradition is a better value proposition for a more unique wine.

First time drinking this cuvee. 100% Chardonnay, no dosage, disgorged March 2020. Yellow apple, pomelo, pear, mango and a citrusy finish with a good supporting creamy texture. There is a clean line of purity here, the fruit showcased deftly. I can see why this cuvee is enjoyed by so many. $41 here in the US, what a great bottle for that value.

Taught and linear with apples and minerals. Chalky and driving on the palate and lean but not hollow. Very good, like everything I've had from Laherte, if not as visceral as some of their other wines.

Aurelien Laherte is one of the most inspired vignerons in Champagne at the moment. I'm not sure how much longer his wines are going to stay at current prices - I would bite while you can. Anyway, this Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is gorgeous, great aromatics that encompass the full spectrum: fresh butter, brioche, hazelnuts, lemon, peach, flinty minerality. In the mouth, it masks its non-dose beautifully, never drawing attention to its absence of sweetness, with the reserve wines, the oak aging, and the natural sweetness of the fruit all contribute to a perfectly structured and balanced Champagne. My disgorgement was 11/19 and I thought it would taste much more tightly knit - I'm quite new to non-dose game but this seems open for business already while being able to further improve with time.

Right in my wheelhouse. Despite being brut nature, there's enough ripe citrusy extract and doughy richness here that this is by no means severe if you like this sort of thing (and I do). But it's got plenty of acid and good chalky bite. One of the best <$50 BdBs for IMO.

Disg 7/20. Great shiny pale golden color. Gentle but persistent mousse. Clean nose of apples and pears, white peach, yellow plum. On the palate noticeable more volume than usual with this wine, and touch more sweetness. Apples and oyster shells. Smooth, piercing acidity, long. Another great emission!

Dillon Beach trip with Mark. Great way to back up after international Champagne Day and a tough ride on the Joy Rd loop. I love the style of this wine. One of my favorite growers at the moment. Medium color. Great nose. Exotic and slightly funky. Very fresh. Toasty aldehyde and apples. Hint of meat and red berry. Lots of lemon and apple. Extremely dry and fresh. Lovely depth. Great texture. Very even. A very rich Blanc de Blanc.
No formal notes, but underwhelming. Fairly simplistic and straight forward, lean and tart with limited weight that doesn't balance the bracing acidity.
blind, disgorged 2018 drank it coincindentally with the Magnum (2016 disg) Fresh, cracking acidity, balanced with some nice Lemon notes, saline and precise. MG fresher and with more volume. 91-92

not blind, from Magnum. disg. 2016 By accident another friend brought the same wine from regular bottle and 2018 disgorged. The Magnum is much fresher. Even it is austere and precise I love the silent fruitieness of this champagne. You want to drink more. A really wine to start the evening. 92-93

Higher score here due to format - this was from a Jero. Face ripping acidity, loads of brioche, toast, coffee, lemon, yellow fruit and so so so much tension and energy. Nothing but good things to say about this incredibly well made and well priced bubbly.

Nov. 2018 Disg. 2nd bottle recently and this continues to trend up for me. Super steely and clean, it shows good finesse and structure. Taut lemon and citrus with a brioche note that widens in the middle and hints at creamy richness. It mostly lives on the edge, fans of the style will like this one. Curious to watch this evolve if I can keep my hands off a few.

Dosage 0-5g/L. Disgorged 10/2017. Light golden color with slate tinge, faint fine bead. Nose some brioche and vanilla, a fleshy yellow peach note. Palate surprisingly and pleasantly full, not harsh/severe. A fleshy yellow peach note as well, a mineral note, some golden apple with time.
A lovely champagne of class and balance, very drinkable now. 91 pts

I’m a sucker for BdB and this gives me all the low dosage feels for $26* after a bunch of credits at Wineaccess. Nose is dope and complex with wide ranging scents of vanilla frosting, orange creamsicle, lemon lime, fresh baked donuts and almond. Despite being low dosage, this isn’t an enamel stripper and is quite dense in the mouth. Only negative I can find is the finish is a little clipped, but my sense is these will age very well.

Medium color with a wonderful mousse. Nutty aldehyde and toast. Meat strawberries that’s reminiscent of Pinot Mieniur. Very rich. Apple & strawberry. It acid but extremely full and generous. Very fine a it backbone. Stunning Blanc de Blanc. The richness and layers of flavor are amazing. With the power and complexity, it’s hard to imagine this is a Blanc de Blanc.

Quite different - floral, kiwi, red fruit despite being BdB!, lacks autolysis but makes up for it in freshness. Grew on me more but wouldn't go again - the two M's are less harsh.

My first Laherte Freres bottle was the 2015 Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Les Grand Crayeres, which while young was fabulous. Guess I’m working backwards. This wine has fine beads and a generous creamy mousse, with light yellow color and a greenish tinge. Crisp green apple, honeydew melon, Meyer lemon, and some slate minerality. Just a touch of brioche on the front end. The wine is expansive on the palate, with generous fruit notes as before and tangy acidity. Lovely bottle, and can’t wait to try some of the other Laherte Freres wines.

I am slowly moving to 93 points with this wine. New disgorgement 11/19. The balance of refinement with power and energy is mind blowing. The fruit is so clean and ripe, I would never guess this is a brut nature. Slate & lime. Great volume, great flow, long. Superb.

Disgorged in October 2018, so based on 2016 with reserve from the two years before. Still youthful, with a faint green tinge to the pale lemon hue, and some green apples and floral notes among the fresh blond citrus aromas. The mousse is certainly vivid, yet fine and not aggressive, and the palate has textbook BdB freshness and linearity leading to a chalky mineral finish. We need to keep these bottles longer to watch the development, as we haven't yet tried a more mature version. (Disclaimer: ITB with Swedish importer Vin & Natur)

Disgorged Jan. 2019. This bottling is not as lean as the one I had a few years ago. Felt generous in the fruit and not as linear either. Needs 6-12 months to come together perhaps. Otherwise, similar flavors.

BBQ and wine (logan square, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is pristine, fresh, and aromatic with red apples, pears, almond paste, white flowers, biscuits, dough, crushed rocks, and some pastry notes. There is excellent depth and balance with it showing off a lot of focus.
Taste: The feel is medium bodied with razor sharp, high acidity. The feel is well balanced and fresh with red apples, pears, almond paste, crushed rocks, biscuits, and pastry notes.
Overall: This is a focused and pristine Blanc de Blancs that shows off a lot of white fruited and autolytic expression.

Very pale. Delicate nose of lemon jelly, a touch of minerality. Lovely rich taste, toothsome with unsurprisingly strong acidity, but it's ripe enough to not seem harsh. Sour apple, lemon, satsuma, maybe even pineapple. Almost vintage-level concentration. Commendable. Zero dosage, 50% reserve wines (no doubt this accounts for some of the richness); vines >35 years old; oak aged; 6 months on the lees; partial malolactic. Disgorged Jan 2019. [Composite cork + cage; 12.5% abv; Woodwinters, £39].

Pale yellow color with nice effervescence. Very red fruit bouquet and flavor with not much toast in this bottle, but otherwise similar to the first with more power than nuance and with a moderate finish. An intriguing wine for Father's Day that went well with the pappardelle with clam sauce.

Fourth bottle over the past few years covering a few different base vintages, all pretty consistent in being very crisp and refreshing, lots of citrus and green apple. This bottle (disgorged 11/2018) having perhaps just a bit too much acid for the rest of its profile, giving it a bit too much of a sour profile. Still, keeping it colder than normal, was enjoyable to drink and went very well with various cheeses.

Disgorged in January 2019, base vintage 2016 fermented in barrels, with 50% reserve wine from 2015 and 2014 kept in barrels and foudres. Downright frothy at first pour, the carbonation gets in the way of smelling the wine for a few minutes but resolves to an effervescence that gives the mid-palate a creamy texture despite the strong lemon-lime core and razor fresh acids underneath. Those acids drive a long finish, one that has a somewhat narrow range of fruit expression. I enjoy taut BdB to sip on but this won't be everyone's cup of tea at the moment, even though it would shine with food and will likely improve over the medium to long term as the acid attack mellows over time.

Pale lemon core, with loads of of small, fast-rising bubbles. Rye bread and lemon on the nose. Bone dry, with searing acidity and loads of tart, green apple upfront, followed by a citrus rinse. Long-ish length, with lingering, pleasantly yeasty notes. It's a crime not to have this with rich food (double cream cheeses, beurre blanc, anything with a béchamel - you get the idea). For a toast, use something else. This needs food.

50% Reservewines, no dosage, disgorged june 2018: at first really stunning bonedry, even for Riesling-stonelickers a challenge, lemon peel, biting minerality, chalky with a demanding acid, improves to more balance with some hours aeration, but way too young, I really do think that this champagne will benefit from some years in your cellar, *(**-****?), 89- 91+ potential?

Disgorged 03 2018, uncertain of base vintage but says L.16 in one spot on the back label, I guess it could be base vintage 2016 and the absolute minimum 15 months on the lees in bottle before release.
Very clear in profile that this is chardonnay, very fresh with lemon, green apple, white flowers and a touch of brioche. Enjoyed by me and my dinner companions. Do think this would need at least 18 months more after disgorgement to get a fair assessment of absolute quality compared to other favourites, so I should probably get me a few more bottles to investigate.

Double blind tasting. Brief note. Pnp. Pours a medium straw color in the glass. Fine perlage and a fine whispy mousse that dissipates quickly. Nose and palate are exceedingly fresh with lively yellow orchard fruits, tart and crunchy green apple skins, meyer lemon, judicious amount of lees and toast, and finely textured chalk. Midpalate is lifted with acid filigreed citrus and good weight from the orchard fruit with time in the glass. Finishes medium (+) with good intensity of flavors and is highly enjoyable.

new label/recent disgorgement. Slate grayish green color with abundant initial bead that fades quickly. Nose yeasty, golden apple. This wine and this genre of wine really resonates with me. This no dosage champagne is like a cross-over with a still white in that there is a suppleness and feeling of integration that comes off as quite "natural." I detected some sweet honeydew on the nose. Palate is unexpectedly soft [for a no dosage sparkler] and open without being creamy, yet with refreshing acidity, generous pear fruit, some lees, and a lingering finish. Really lovely and great QPR.

An absolutely hedonistic nose laden with umami...yeast, preserved lemon, boiled peanut broth. Unfortunately the palate is brutally acidic and punishing...this could use a little dosage to round things out a bit and bring in the savory elements that are drowned out by the austere and dry style. Does this get better with age as the acidity balances? I’m not sure as it is already pretty tertiary and volatile.

Learning about Champagne, but I like this a lot. Nice zippy crisp lemony/apple fruit. Relatively light and refreshing. I don't get much bread/yeasty flavor. I like this much better than some of the more mainstream Champagnes at similar price point (find those to often be a bit sweet)

Laser sharp, fine bubbles, lemon on steroids! Did well with chicken jalapeño quesadillas. Nice fruit , oak and toast on the palate and nose. Not usually a huge fan of Blanc de Blancs, but this is good stuff. As it warms to a more optimal temperature it does add more complexity and depth of fruit.

Lighter greenish/yellow color. Small but pretty intense mousse. Pretty lean but mineral-driven notes of slate, chalk, some citrus, and also a touch of mint. It's lighter bodied, with medium+ acidity and medium-intense smaller bubbles. Good finish with saline minerality. A tense, nervous but interesting Blanc de Blancs full of minerality.

A fantastic bubbly. Very light yellow color, almost clear. Oodles of minerality, some brioche and lemon/apples. Wonderful acidity, some tartness that makes it interesting. This is really, really good stuff.

This is a note for the Grand Cru BdB Brut Nature, not sure if it's the same as this wine, since the label looks different. But like the tasters here, I thought it was a stunning bottle. The lack of dosage lets all of the savory character of the wine come out. The palate is amazingly rich and complex, with little overt fruit flavors in evidence at all. Very impressive.

Light yellow color. Brilliant nose of minerals and brioche and lemony apple-pear fruit. In the mouth, zesty and vibrant, with focused and slightly tart fruit, strong acidity, and a slightly creamy texture. Bone dry on the finish, which I find delicious. A-

I love the champagnes of Aurelein Laherte. Disgorgement date of 09-2013. Base vintage is 2011 and reserve wines from 2010. Beautiful full champagne with a perfect balance. Great as an apertif, just in perfect balance. Great QPR

Disgorged 7/15. Wonderfully extracted and mouth filling, but I remain a non fan of wood aged champagnes, although I've had some 10-12 year old de Sousa wood laden champagnes, and at that point, they do show really well, at least those have. Some lemony notes, but not offering much in the finish for now. Wood, unless it brand new fermentation/ageing pretty much needs time to integrate. I think maybe the champanois who are ageing in wood for those few years perhaps need to say that. Nonetheless very rich; especially impressive for a non dose.

Laherte BDB Brut Nature. Ikke noe tull her. Lang finish hvor det kommer bølger med syre og en steinslikkende følelse. Strålende innsats fra Aurelien Laherte!

Pale yellow color. At first quite reductive nose with aromas of eggs and some sulphurous smoke. As the reduction slowly blows off, notes of fresh green apples, some stony minerality and hints of smoky earth emerge. The wine is crisp, steely and mineral on the palate with rather light, linear body and racy acidity. Flavors of steely minerality, green apples, some wet stones and a hint of grapefruit. Very austere and precise style counterpointed by very smooth, fine and creamy mousse. Quite long and crisp finish with bracing acidity and focused flavors of steely minerality, gari (fermented ginger), lemon zest, some apple peel and very light autolytic hints of toast crumbs.
Lean and mean Blanc de Blancs but with great precision. The wine is quite austere but not excessively so, meaning that the wine doesn't come across as aggressive but only really focused with laser-like precision. Quite gastronomic style with brightness and acidity that can cut through even quite rich dishes and clean, airy fruit that lets room for more delicate foods. However, what I'd do is let the wine age more, giving it some time to resolve its tightly-wound acid structure and to develop some more obvious autolytic notes. After all, only half a year after disgorgement is pretty soon and some producers don't even release their wines this soon after disgorgement. I'd let the wine age at least 12 months before disgorgement before popping it open, preferably more than two years. Stylish effort with room for further development. Priced according to its quality at 43,80€.

The Laherte Frères Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is intense and precise, with bracing acidity and striking mineral overtones. Straw-colored, with a fine mousse, this zero dosage sparkler opens with notes of lemon zest, dried honey, pastry and white flowers. The palate is terroir-driven, chalky, calcareous, fossil-laden soils from the Mesozoic era come to the fore with energy and focus, punctuated by overtones of white grapefruit, lemon zest and spice. Disgorged 06/2013.

Disg. October 2012. 100% Cahrdonnay, no dosage. 50% reserve wine. Loads of citrus flowers and white flowers on the nose, some apples, also showing chalky minerals and a nice underlying sherry/oxidative profile. Clean and bone dry palate, with lemons and citrus, touch of orange, grapefruit, apples, and loads of fine and dry minerals. Very clean and precise. (89 - 91)

It had a strong glue note on the nose. Puts me off everytime. On the palate: very acidic, not much else. Semi-pleasant finish of both glue and acidity. Had a hard time finishing the bottle. One of my friends liked it, the other didn't. Way less than I expected.
I asked about other people's opinions and experience regarding glue notes in sparkling wines in this forum post. Feel free to comment: https://www.cellartracker.com/forum/tm.asp?m=352048&mpage=1&key=&

Not bad. Showing a bit more oxidation than I like (bruised apple) but has very pretty white peach, green apple, chalk, and spice notes. Great acidity, as this producer almost always has.

Cinnamon apple, ginger, meringue, almond bisquits and nutty hints on the lovelyt nose. Effortless dry palate with refreshing zing and smooth warming moussé. Baked apple, grapefruity bitter touch and big autolysis. Saline touch in the aftertaste. Lovely stuff. Laidback but precise. Effortless but complete. A rebuy.

Not sure what I make of this wine, it takes about and hour to show itself, lots of yeasty bread, citrus and orchard fruit on the nose, there's a sensational burst of briney lemon on the mid palate. The finish has a god length but the yeasty notes seem a little unbalanced

Champagne: Deg. 10/11. Qui il vino base è fermentato in legno. Bignè alla panna, agrumi (lime) con una mineralità salmastra diffusa. Bocca delicata tutta giocata su una imponente sapidità bilanciata da un perlate sottile e raffinato.

Really creamy, mousey nose. Hot stones with water poured on top. Jicama aroma with lime on top.Soft palate texture with nice rich, deep fruit. As its held in the mouth it's like I can see a very sharp, focused fruit flavor at the end of a very long tunnel; focused but not all penetrating. Flavors or lime and soft red apples. More red apple skins on the finish, but then after 5 seconds it slowly opens in an eruption of acidity and minerality. Really nicely coating the palate. This is a beautifully complete wine today, with awesome flavors and texture staying with the palate on the finish.

A private lunch (Restaurant Bubbledogs, London, UK): Average vine age 35 years, 40% vin de reserve, vinified in barrique and aged on the fine lees for 6 months, partial malo, disgorged March 2012, no dosage. Very clean and crisp, flowers and minerals, precise, dry but not austere, elegant but not very complex; good length.

Very good for aperitif I thought. A very pure BdB with 50% of reserve wine, fermentation in foudres and barrels, partial MLF. Aged for only 6 months before bottling. Round but with a refreshing acidity and great tension, lemon an apple notes. Not very complex, slightly bready. Might benefit from cellaring time. I liked it but I wish this was a little cheaper here in the US.

Medium lemon green to yellow color. Fragrant citric and leesy tones with a dark fruit in the background. Mouth filling lively mousse that coats the mouth with nervous grapefruit aromas. A wine with youthful nervousness. Very high acidity with medium body provides length. Pretty Chablis like with it's steely saltiness and chalky vibe. Aperitif and oysters please. Very promising wine.

Clear pale gold colour, dry fine mouse, lively wine in the glass. On the nose picking up brioch white peach, yeast - zero dosage but ripeness of fruit comes through to balance the natural sweetness of the wine.

I would say the nose was exactly the most pleasant experience of the tasting and pairing with a Sushi dinner.
almost golden colour (disgorgement 2018)
on the nose notes of brioche, vanilla, red apple, melon and pineapple
in the mouth fine perlage, very creamy, still the red apple together with grape fruit and some wild berries, more powerful than precise but in any case lovely stuff!! ;)
long finish on the notes of lemon zest and minerals

Watergrill w/T
This was a 92 for starters, but then lost some of its luster after a while and the palate adjusted to the Billecart.

Pale gold, light mousse.
Nose: Butter brioche, crushed oyster shell, alcohol heat.
87.

Still very youthful, bright and energetic, pure and intense, with dense fine-caliber mousse and a chiming finish. One of the very best 'basic' blanc de blancs out there. Give it a year to release all of its potential. (Disclaimer: ITB with Swedish importer Vin & Natur)

Ikke noe tull her.
Lang finish hvor det kommer bølger med syre og en steinslikkende følelse.
Strålende innsats fra Aurelien Laherte!

May 2014 disgorgement.

Liked this better than previous bottle, showing nice notes of green apple, lemon and lime, crisp acidity on the palate is really refreshing and makes one want another sip! Yeasty tones I got before are not as dominant leaving lovely clean pure tart fruit

Almost clear but very light gold color; Started out a little closed with slight citrus aromas; green apple and lemon flavors. Intense mineral finish. Austere to begin with then opened up to a wider range of flavors. Disgorged 9.13.

I really enjoy the champagnes of laherte and this was and excellent example of a brut nature champagne that is all about minerality. I really liked this

Great QPR. Had it at BBQ as aperatif then withthe food. Feels harmonious and easy to drink. Light mouthfeel. High acid but buffeted but light sumptousness. Minerally. I'd drink this any day...

Surprisingly it shows more oak than I remembered with a hint of vanilla. Some nougat as well. Chalky. Great tension thanks to high acidity. Lemon and green olives. Much better on day 2.
Nice BdB and will get better.

Je confirme, c'est pas en place pour moi, mineral, très citronné, rafraîchissant, mais vaut pas un champagne à ce prix. 86, 88 without price consideration.
