A bottle that has been with me for almost 15 years and that has survived many different cellars. A personal favourite from this elegant year. Lovely, mature colour; the nose is très 1981, medicinal, lovely fruit, oak and terroir, deep and fully mature; elegant weight, wonderful structure and extract, classic and stylish, juicy, ripe and long. Exemplary, delicious claret.
Lovely classic 1981-Cabernet, nice depth, fresh, cedar, medicinal, red and black fruit, hint of spice; elegant, medium-weight, stylish and supple, lovely tannic grip; good length, complete. Better than both the Carbonnieux 1981 and the Rauzan-Gassies 1981.
Dark ruby. Very rich bouquet with black currants, oak and liquorice. Beautifully developed wine with good tannin; sticky as well as some drying. The taste is like the bouquet; so the wine is in perfect harmony and firm as well. When time passes during the evening the wine closes a bit and seems to be straight forward/one dimensional. I am certain that after a few years of rest it will open up completely and will offer even a greater pleasure drinking it.
