My last bottle was in 2015. Much too young then. Tannins were overpowering. This is brilliant now. Dark, dark fruit. Black plum and leather. A little soy sauce. Integrated tannins. Long finish. This has more years ahead of it, but it’s super tasty right now. Glad I waited for the second bottle. Tasted under Coravin, so I’ll enjoy for the next week or two.

Last of 3, last note in '17, and a little different impression this time so we'll note it. BTW, an '08 seemed appropriate tonight. 🤞
Medium garnet color. Aromas of darker fruits this time, along with leather and graphite. Medium body, medium (+) acid and finish, with flavors of black plum, cassis, blackberry, and minerals. Overall, a darker constitution than before. I think I like it similarly, but slightly less. Still a good value for the $20 paid.

Ruby to garnet in color with some transparency. Nose was tight initially, but a little time in glass and decanter revealed smoke, earth, dark red fruits, tobacco, and orange peel. Medium body, medium (+) acid and finish, with flavors of red and dark red fruits, black tea, orange peel, and mineral. Pretty solid.

Similar impressions as my 3/30/14 notes except that it did not need early opening/airing. P&Ped at wake for dear friend, was well received with/without food by others. A steal at $20 3 years ago.

GSM comparison with friends: Reddish brown color really coming through on the edges now starting to show some age. Definitely get red fruits mixed with meaty/bacon aromas, and lots of earthy and barn yard components. Medium weight with some herbs on the finish. Drinking really well right now.

Nose is good perfume of red fruits and spice. The palate brings blueberry, cooked meat, dark raspberry, a hint of cherry, and lots of herbs. Tannins and still very present, but the alcohol is not coming through anymore. Relatively short finish, and wish the palate was at the same level as the nose.

Decanted for about one hour. Cork in great condition. Delightful nose of bacon fat, garrigue and red fruits. On the palate, however, it wasn't quite as expressive which was a little disheartening because the bouquet was full of promise. Firm tannins still. Short finish. Paired wonderfully with cassoulet. Still a very nice bottle and I would certainly try this one again should I have an opportunity. This was my only bottle; a generous gift from a friend.

Evolved nicely over 2h in decanter but the alcohol was too much and kept this out of balance and continually stomped out the fruit, earth and other scents that wanted to dance. Namely blackberries, fig, boysenberry tea, garrigue

Tasting good. A bit dirty on the palate, but I can like that. It's still quite young, but very approachable currently. Pretty concentrated nose. Initially barn-y on the first taste, but the fruits wander in to join with the smut, and continue on through a decent and interestingly pleasant farm and fruit finish.
Initially I was going to give it 90 pts, but I upped it to 91 because it warrants it due to a nice blend of tones (granted from the farm)

Slow ox for 2+ hours. Medium/dark ruby color. Nose of cherry, pepper, light bret, and a little hot. On the palate strong red fruit and high alcohol. Medium/light acidity and gripping tannin. Fairly long finish.
The heat on this wine threw it out of balance for me. I have liked a lot of 2008 CdP because they tend to be approachable in their youth and tend to have more subdued, elegant profiles than the 07, 09, or 10; but this wine was anything but approachable or subdued.

Opened 2 hours before blind tasting. Dark fruit, brett funk upon initial pours, then opened up with baking spices, floral, and fruit on the nose and palate. A steal at$20.

Very dark and dense with good dark fruit packed in it. Has unpleasant tartness out of the bottle, which subsides with decanting. It should benefit from more cellaring.

Very dark purple opaque. Dry, black plum jam with spice notes. Still closed jammy, black fruit, dry pleasant plum fruit, closed dry tannins. Might get better, needs to open up. Good backbone.

This is a powerhouse of a wine. We decanted this for a few hours and still didn't even drink till the second night. Huge ripe fruit on the nose and front palette. The finish was full of spice and cured meats. The tannins on this wine can be a bit overwhelming so give it a lengthy decant or hold. I'm used to CdP being a little more subtle. This seems a bit ripe and modern. Look forward to watching this develop over the years.

Purple red in color. A bit of alcohol and funkiness on the nose with blueberry pie and prunes. Flavors of licorice, minerals and overripe cooked fruit. Slightly medicinal in nature.

Still very tannic, should be better with time. Not overly complex. A good effort for this vintage. Modern style CDP.

Dark fruit (plum, blueberry), slight tannin, slight heat, slight spice. May just need more time. Enjoyable but not so compelling right now.

On the second night, although the alcohol showed up, there was more finesse to it. Clos St-Jean did a great job in 2008 and I am looking forward to popping the Deus and Combes in a few years.
