What a splendid result for a second wine in a difficult year. Very classic Cornas with iron, blood, tar, intense black fruit and a chalky finish. Still a young wine, but also young vines, which makes it approachable. #Møntergade #Henning&Flemming #X-mas

March Rhônes (Chicago, IL): Drink up. This is showing its age and thinning out (not unlike the 2002 Cornas, honestly). Fully mature and on the downslope, with a leathery tone to the relatively light red fruit.

In a great spot Everything has come together. Wine showed some red-blue fruits, black pepper, bacon fat, and lots of olive tapenadez. The structure was well defined with medium to medium plus acidity and well integrated but pronounced tannin. Lovely wine. Drink now and enjoy!

Popped and poured. Aromas of red fruit and bacon. Gentle flavors of blackberry, dry leaves. Olive notes in the rich finish. Elegant, soft with a solid backbone, complex. Excellent.

Stunning wine. Fantastic black fruit alongside a little development. Tannins assure a long life, but it's delicious now. One of the best Northern Rhones I've ever had.

Loads of tannin still initially. Once it opened up and warmed above cellar temperature these receded quite a lot. Definite evidence of age on the colour. Showing a little bit of a shift toward brick. Very savoury. Not much fruit initially. As it opened strong notes of a meatiness and white pepper on the nose. These followed through onto the palate when there was also a core of black cherry. Long. Really beneficial for this to be open for a while.

The nose is clean. The flavours have a medium intensity and show notes of black fruit (black cherry, black plum), bottle-age (subtle leather), oak and deliberate oxidation (cinnamon, caramel), and pungent spice (black pepper). The wine is developing.
On the palate, the wine is dry with medium(+) acidity, medium alcohol, and medium(+) body. The medium(+) level tannins are ripe and velvety in nature. The flavours have a medium intensity and show notes of bottle-age (meaty character), black fruit (black plum, black cherry), pungent spice (black pepper), and oak and deliberate oxidation (cinnamon, caramel). The finish has a long length.
This wine is of an outstanding quality. The flavours are concentrated and have a great balance with the acidity and the alcohol. The tannins have a great balance with the acidity. The oak treatment is well-integrated, featuring sweet spice notes that complement the flavour profile. In its current state, the wine shows complexity with primary, secondary, and tertiary characters. The finish has an amazing length.
The wine drinks well now, but has potential for further ageing. The fruit intensity is great, and the tannin and acid structure should support the wine as tertiary notes continue to develop.

Enticing nose of dark fruits. Lovely and smooth in the mouth. Very mouthfilling. Quite rustic. Plenty of fruit with a hint of development there as well to round things out. Long finish with just a bit of grip. Well and truly into its drinking window, but a long way from falling over.

Fabulous nose of white pepper and bloody meat. Really well evolved and drinking fantastically well. Smooth darker red fruits, well balanced. Secondary flavours coming out well. 92 possibly 93

Despite being a young vine cuvee, this is very meaty and thick. I don't really find anything to make it that enjoyable, and it's a little tannic / woody / drying on the end.

Elegant, soft, showing juicy purple fruits and stony minerality. Goes down very quickly and even though it is listed at 13% alc, it has to be less. Perfect midweek wine. Having said that, it is a litte one diminesional and lacking structure, so for me a somewhat questionable value even at the $30 discounted price I paid. I would drink this in the next 2-3 years.

Menthol and garrigue aromas. Very young now, it starts with copious drying tannins before blooming into delicious cherry flavors. Light to medium body and moderate length.

somewhat muted nose of cherry, raspberry, spice and pepper, with fruit notes opening up over time. Darker fruit on the palate, well balanced with spice. Very nice classic Rhone presentation.

Cornas Birthday lunch (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): "Earthy, gamey, charcuterie, blackberry, peppery spice. Juicy, savoury, peppery with brambly fruit and leathery tannins.
After 30 minutes blackberry, earthy spice, still quite closed on the nose. Savory, juicy, polished, fresh, long, plenty of breadth."

Soft, pretty, and pure, expressive nose of violet and licorice, but there's some meaty structure here, too.
