Perfectly mature nose displaying bright red fruit, cherry, strawberry, strong sous bois, grilled cep, Vosne spice, Chinese medicinal cabinet, stem, cinnamon and nutmeg and limestone. Fully integrated palate, very finely layered generous red fruit, silky and airy, beautiful detail and precision, bright acidity, fine limestone mineral, and a seamless long sweet red fruit driven finish. There is a hint of bitterness that is not bothersome. The 08 DRCs very unique and special. They were showing a lot of Vosne spice from the beginning. They matured quickly and now are perfectly mature, which is not a bad thing.

Gosh, what a lovely glass. Probably my favourite off the night in a strong line-up side by side Eche, RSV and Tache 08 from the Domaine. Markedly paler in colour vs the Eche poured alongside. Initially not jumping from the glass immediately but it became clear with coaxing that there was an awful lot hidden in here. Umami rich, very complex, ethereal and mysterious. I think in 10-20 years this will be utterly superb! Hold onto those drink 2035-2050

Burgundy Bachelor Party: A decent and correct wine that was blown out by an array of incredible wines. Struck me as a bit thin compared to the complete and brilliant wines served beside it.

Nose exhibits DRC spice, flowers, and darkish red fruit. It is marginally darker than the 08 DRC Echezeaux, but the GE has a lot more flesh and complexity. Really love the 08 DRCs. While it is drinking well for a young wine, it will certainly age amazingly well. 95-96

Like drinking rose petals. Such an elegant wine, crystal rose color, delicate on the palate with great lightness and purity of flavor, but most of all that aroma! Incredible. I want more. Served in the backyard, out of plastic Bordeaux glasses, with wood-fired pizza and friends.

maybe it's just me but the GE's from DRC always seem to be so much more approachable than the other ones, I don't really get the same oak presence in its youth. Stemmy deep red fruit on the nose. Sweet earth and berries with spiced stem galore. Surprised by the balance on it. It’s light on its feet but delicious and some savoriness.

Right off the bat this wine reminded us why we shell out so much money for DRC. Haunting nose of whole cluster, game, sour cherry, spices. On the palate it so light and elegant but not watery, the 2008 freshness comes through but no greenness. Amazing aromatic persistence on the long finish. Beat the 2009 RSV next to it easily. Wow, DRC Pinot at its best!

Lacking just a bit of complexity and power to drive through the palate. Beautiful nose of mainly fruit and a hint of floral. Need time but is also contained by vintage.

What a glorious aromatic experience defining why we drink fine wine! Decanted for three hours and thankfully, what a glorious nose was revealed- rose, litchi, tayberry, wisteria and violets, a touch of poppy and, of course, the classic Vosne spice! DRC’s are a one of a kind flower garden and justifiy their price and respect. With over two hundred of various DRC in my cellar (and growing), I plan to luxuriate in my next twenty plus years of drinking! The nose-livening, mouth swirling delight gives credence to why we buy, cellar, and drink fine wine. The clarity and palate coating richness is followed by mouth swirling glory. This is a winning 2008, had none better of any wine anywhere! Drank at the Beatrice Inn in Greenwich Village with my bride of thirty seven years, just as gorgeous as this wine.

Loads of whole cluster on the nose. Tons of black fruit, black cherry and spicy fruits. Asian spices and green notes. A lot going on in this glass. SO, so young. Needs 20 years. Signature velvet texture. Loved this wine but definitely too early to pull the cork. Has a ton of upside.

Smoke, caramel, earth, spice, black cherries and a faint whisper of floral notes open to a soft, polished, fresh wine filled with a melange of bright red berries. Still young, I'd hold this for several years before popping a bottle.

Nydelig vin.

2008 Domaine De La Romanee-Conti Tasting (Beltramo's, Menlo Park Ca.): As with the Echezeaux, the nose is to die for....dusty cherry spice, exotic wood(reminds me of the dusty air in a mahogany wood works shop!), licorice and raspberry puree. A little richer than the Echezeaux, maybe less acid, but still good tartness. Great complexities of ripe strawberries, dried roses and leaves. But that nose...that nose! Simply outstanding!

Beautiful aromatics with flowers, perfume, stems and spice. Alluring fruit on the palate that pleased you with weightless power. So good.

Continues to outperform the vintage. While perhaps without the best definition, layers of depth on the nose and palate compensate.
