Beautiful nose of dark red fruit, chocolate and maple that blows off with time, candied orange peel, a touch of spice and earth. Slightly brooding body with dryish tannins and a dryer finish. Still too young and potential upside from here

Dense with cool red and black fruits. Some orange peel which evolves with time to a really piercing orange note. Palate is similar with deep and tangy fruit, with a spicy finish with some licorice. And very long! This is great but I assume still very young.

this is a very solid wine. lots going on in the nose here, light cherries, rose, slight barn yard. palate is an explosion of flavours, had a tough time pinning them down but it seemed like a layer of saltiness here that was enjoyable and worked well with the fruit falvours. def a winner

a beautiful delicate wine. immediately upon opening the nose was loaded with light fruit and rose petals scent. extremely smooth and a decent length of finish

hard to say whether this will turn out well, i was interested cuz i've love the 1990 and some other vintages, and cuz the notes referred to this as red fruited, on day one it was oaky and clunky and not good, on day two it had a bit more verve and acid and i did notice red fruits coming forward, then on day three (perhaps it was just gone by then) it was again clunky and oaky... won't rebuy but if i happened to have one in my cellar i would be interested to see what it would be like in 10 or 15 yrs

a very big floral nose for a medium weight wine. was super enjoyable. i think just entering the drinking window, should drink very well for the next 8yrs or so

what a wonderful wine. loads of aromatic floral notes on the nose. nice weight on the palate with light cherry & strawberry notes with a hint of cloves (i think) on the finish. a great spring wine, should age really well over the next decade

Luftet i 4 timer før konsum. God matvin pr. i dag. Fungerte meget godt til Codino Arrosto (grytestekt kalvemørbrad). Kjøper ikke mer av denne årgangen. 89-90 poeng

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. Sweet and fat mostly red fruit on both nose and palate. Very charming spice starting to emerge, floral background notes are classically Volnay. Much better, much more integrated vs last year at this same tasting.

Hard to rate this one. Very young and primary. Very structured with a firm core. More elegant than older vintages, but the quality does not really match the tarif.

Unabashedly burgundy though young. Thus reminded me of a young chambolle actually. Cheery polished red fruits and currants. A touch flowery. Nice tannins.A bright wine

Dinner with Fabrice Amiot (Canton Tastes, Albert Street): Another baby, a rather brawny one this time - good, but far too young. Blinded, the first instinct said Volnay, what with the wafting floral scents, lovely dark cherry and red berry fruit and a earthy nuances on the nose. A rather obvious layer of oak made it seemed rather modern, but otherwise this was a really attractive bouquet. The palate came across as very, very young though. Still rather tight, quite unyielding when first poured, but there was a lot of quality with a depth of dark cherry fruit laced with fresh cut flower notes and balanced with lovely acidity. Quite astounding depth for a 2008 actually, I would never have guessed the vintage - it seemed more like a fresh 2006 if anything. The finish was impressive too, lingering away with a nice bit of mineral and hints of earth and spice. Good stuff. A bit sweet at the edges and maybe just a tad brawny, but otherwise I liked this - it just needs a lot of time yet.

La Paulée de New York 2011: Aie. The hail added a terrible bite to this, and Dominique noted he was losing money on this wine. Too sweet, as is the case with much 08 Beaune region wines. Acid, a bit hot, just rough. Ouch.

2008 Burg blind tasting. Very strict, more a struggle than a joy, drying tannins, stinging acidity.

Rock n roll. Fuck yeah.
Lotta structure. Over three hours the nose stayed strong and powerful, while the palate went from tannic to mellow.
Fantastic wine.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #143; Wines from the book "1001 wines you must try before you die" (By BS): In the bouquet red and dark berries, herbs, and some first signs of development. On the palate red and dark berries, slightly sticky tannin, chocolate, some brown spiced biscuit and good acidity, Beautiful and refined wine.

Fresh and pure with a good structure. Not super exciting but good. When thinking of what I paid for this I cannot really justify the cost.

Candy floss, strawberry and raspberry on the nose. Tea leaves, liqourice, raspberries, sour cherries and finishes well with dark red fruits.
