At a nice stage but don’t wait. Loads of leather, cedar, and anise. Still has plenty of juicy red currant fruit so that it is nicely balanced. Quite tasty.

Dark garnet color and full body. Dark fruit, cassis with hints of earthy tobacco funk (good funk) with oak was integrated nicely. Lots of life left in this and most enjoyable. On the palate, sweet with medium long finish. Very enjoyable and holding up very well. 90.6 points. If the price is right, buy it, there is still a lot of life in this bottle.

Beautiful New World Cab. Still tons of fruit for a Cab that's 11 years old. Resolved silky tannins. This wine is drinking great right now. It's probably peaking. I don't think it's going to decline anytime soon but not sure it's going to get any better either. Great red fruit with pencil shavings, slight black pepper, plum and licorice and a hint of raisins. Nice long finish. Went great with the Grilled New York Strip overlooking the ocean. If you've got it, drink it and enjoy it. It's really good right Now!!!

Plenty of dark red/black fruit remains, but savory flavors predominate. Some leather, tobacco, and a bit of chocolate. A bit of charcoal like tannins on the back end. Overall, a great balance of up front fruit, with back end structure. This bottle still seemed young, so the wine may have several years left.

Ripe black cherry aroma, flavor profile is similar with old leather and a hint of cola. A very good wine that is JUST SLIGHTLY beyond its peak. Purchased on secondary market so provenance is uncertain, but at $35+ fees i'd buy again for near-term consumption.

This 2003 David Arthur Cabernet Sauvignon presented itself true to its Bordeaux composition exhibiting full bodied complex character, nicely balanced subdued dark black berry, currant and cherry fruits, a layer cassis with hints of dark chocolate, earthy tobacco and tea with tones of spicy oak on a silky smooth lingering tannin finish. This was a perfect wine to complement the grilled beef tenderloin.
This wine was popped and poured; no decanting. It still had lots of red and black fruit, with a nice spice note. The oak was integrasting nicely. Lots of life left in this and most enjoyable.

This one may be passing its peak, so drink up soon. The tannins have almost completely fallen out. Notes of cedar, smoke & tobaccco with any fruit it may have had hiding in the background. Very smooth with more of a Bordeaux than Cali feel.

More bordeaux-like than any other DA i've had, particularly during the first hour. After that point, the wine "strengthened" and developed more traditional calicab tones, with the earth and barnyard fading and darker red fruit, leather and tobacco moving forward.

The Elevation 1147 of the same year spoiled me. The Cab Estate is very good, falls short of impressive as in the case of its big brother. Certainly very enjoyable, don't think it can improve that much with time.

The first impression on nose has strong Bordeaux style barnyard, wet strew vinosity smell. Once it opens up, coffee, cigarbox, black berry flavor starts to show up. Full body, high intensity, very well integrated tannin and acidity. Long finish with blackberry taste. We had this wine after 1999 Mouton Rothschild. It held up well with Bordeaux first growth. Very impressive.

Deep dark garnet color, full bodied - spicy, vibrant forward dark berry throughout, slight earthy layer currants, cola berry, tobacco and hint of cedar. Slight hot alcohol on opening bleeds off after an hour or so.

CellarTracker Wisconsin June 2011; 6/24/2011-6/25/2011 (Madison, WI- various venues): Tasted non blind at a large wine dinner. Nose of cassis, mocha and a bit of cigar box. Similar palate with a touch of sweetness. Medium long finish. Very enjoyable wine, especially after tasting dozens of very complex and world class wines. This was the first wine of the evening that I could just sit back and enjoy. A well made but somewhat simple cab. Interestingly, another taster and I disagreed significantly on pretty much every wine for the entire evening (every wine I raved about he was spitting on the floor and vice versa) but this was the one that we both agreed on and both enjoyed very much. Drink now and over the next year or so.

CT Wisconsin Offline (Madison, WI): One of my favorite Napa wineries. This wine didn't disappoint. Very open on the nose and palate, dark berries, plums and a little smoky/meaty component. Dry tannins still present. Nice finish. I could see this drinking very well for another five years easily.

I can tell this used to be a fruit bomb in its youth, but right now it's at that awkward stage when the fruit is fading leaving behind a raisiny or pruney aftertaste. Still very very pleasant and a crowd-pleaser, just wish I had opened this several years earlier.

(A) Lovely cabernet from east of Silverado. The wine has left it's massive youth and entered a very nuanced stage. The fruit hasn't faded, yet it somehow takes a back stage to the earth and mushroom flavors that are up front. Glides past the side palate to finish strong, with meat and smoke coming through behind ripe cherries.

Decanted and aerated for about an hour. Great nose on this wine, which gives something different with each sniff. I got dark berries, stewed plums, grilled meats and some earthiness. On the palate it has great concentration. I got mushrooms, dark fruits, and earth at the beginning. As the evening progressed it seemed to be more fruity rather than earthy. It lost a little after several hours in the glass, but the tannins lead me to believe that it could be cellared beyond 2012. Seems to combine some of the ripe juiciness of the new world with the earthy components of old. I probably overpaid at $80, but if you can get it for $40 as shown in the going rate you'd have a bargain.

The nose was crispy with tones of oak, dark berries and tobacco. The wine needed to open up but after some time the palate showed dark berries and spicy with medium tannins, slightly tart in the beginning but has a long finish. Not too bad but not my favorite either. Definitely needs some air time.
