Name is provisional. An 18-case Auction lot made by Sean O’Keefe of Chateau Grand Traverse from Vineyard 49 Fruit, Clone 49 plantation, first commercial harvest; Spencer Stegegna of Bowers Harbor’s Block II Vineyard, with Clone 239 planted in 1991; and Bryan Ulbrich of Left Foot Charley’s Seventh Hill Vineyard, about 14 years old. These three wines, sold separately in these three friendly competitor winemaker’s individual estates' "Small Lots" programs, were all highly impressive to me tasted individually earlier, and each showed very vibrant terroir and a sense-filling presence, perhaps being the top ‘lieblich’ Rielsing sites on the Old Mission Peninsula, in my opinion; they are now blended together. This wine may well be the foundational OMP Riesling, with its components, served at next year's James Beard dinner by Amanda Danielson of Trattoria Stella, Traverse City, MI.

Cork finished; has been in bottle for about 8 weeks.
Almost water white with hints of straw. A gentle Kraft resin over clover honey, anise, spring flower, and mineral nose, with a sensation of warm hand-rubbed tropical wood; quite a tease; has an energetic mineral--driven entry edged with juicy acidity and a honied-peach palate, with mouth-filling acidity, subtle woody resin or Kraft notes; medium body, and full extract; great resonant mint-and-mineral finish. Since each of the components is a great wine in itself, this could probably be no greater, but it's also exquisitly delicate and fine with wonderful detailing. Where at least two of the three component wines are blockbusters, this blend feels very much like a dry Riesling Kabinett from Franconia, also grown on limestone. Drink 2011-2023. (93 pts.)
