12.8 % ABV 90% Cab, 10% Merlot. Cork was challenging to remove, half way disintegrated but accomplished finally w/ ahso. Wonderful youthful nose, color has faded some with caramel ring. Initial taste test revealed something different about this wine, I'm not able to identify it. We filtered the cork and decanted the wine for a little over an hour. Very drinkable, although past its prime.
I had purchased this wine for a colleague's retirement several years ago, and they were so gracious to share it now. Thank you Doug!

This mature 1983 Cab still held up very well. Decanted for 3+ hours the wine showed a deep garnet color while pouring (no problems with the cork), had plenty of fruit remaining & was very smooth to the palate. Delicate tannins led to a nice soft finish. Although we weren't expecting much from this 38 year old Cab, we thoroughly appreciated & enjoyed this gem.

Decanted and began drinking immediately; held up well over three hours with no major change. In pretty good shape. Mainly blackcurrant aroma, with integrated coffee and leather sorts of barrel notes and just a hint of VA that works just fine. Good amount of fruit left; juicy, a touch sweet, and generally tasty. Tannins are present but fairly mellow at this stage. Nice streak of acidity, seeming to keep things fresh and lively. Overall, this seems to have aged gracefully; doesn't offer a ton in the way of complexity, but it's tasty and fun to drink.

At HiTime Cellars today, nose of black berry, black currants, and sage, same on the palate, tasty, big body, and a long, tannic finish.
