Riped plums, violets, incense, lavender aromas with slight smokiness. Tasted black fruits, cassis, squid ink, incense, with slight earthy notes. Elegant and refined, without weight. However, this is still young, with spikes of sours. Finish was short and unexciting for me. Lacked complexity. Honestly expected more. Hold for 3-5 years at least.

Seriously beautiful wine. Red fruits, violets, licorice, pepper and mushroom . All well integrated. Long and silky. Only 13% alcohol. This is wine as it should be. God bless France and The Guigals.

Medium dark red; nice deep dark fruit, some pepper and licorice; smooth and silky, nice power with good acidity, really dense with a long adorable aftertaste, very light tannins at the end; really good

I am not an ermitage expert but this wine has very beautiful structure and composure. Nose is very fresh and vibrant with herbs, garrigue, spice box, meat and leather and coco nib. On the palate very taught and tight, with hard cherry fruit, green stem, more dried herbs, decay and meat. Well made and still showing youth. Can see this being great in 5-10 years.

This wine is truly going to be an All Star when it grows up. The 06 is still young and needs time. Decanted for 2hrs. The Nose exhibits heavy fruit of Boysenberry, Cherry, and Cacco. The Taste is flowing warm molten chocolate cake, saddle leather, spice box. The Tannins are still very evident. The wine is still very young. Typical of E.Guigal La LA wines that are very slow to evolve. I'm so glad to have allot more. This is very good grape juice.

Lovely Wine that truly needs 2hrs decanting to open up today. Lots of chocolate and chewy caramel. Fruit of blackberries, and blueberries. The hint of saddle leather comes through as well. The tannins are still there and a few years away from shedding. I suggest this wine has 15-18yrs of life ahead of it and my score will only go up. The future is bright and glad to lots more of this wine.

Dark red; lots of pepper and spices; coffee, tobacco and pepper, some light biting tannins, acidity and power; seems very good, alive and vibrant, but almost too much at this point - probably even better some years from now

Working with wine 2014 seminar 1 - Rhone varieties (Sofitel, Sydney): Medium plus intensity aromas of spice, concentrated black fruits - berry, currants, plums - slightly reductive not and touches of meatiness. Concentrated almost gunpowder note here as well - not unpleasant. In the mouth the wine has medium plus acid, is thick textured and savoury with flavours of concentrated black berry and pepper conjoined with massive ripe, chewy, vigorous tannin all of which drops relatively quickly leaving the mouth with the sensation of being hit by a freight train...nice

Guigal tasting with Christopher Cannan (Caro's Wines, Auckland, New Zealand): dense blackberry fruit with spearmint top notes and luscious oak. very fine palate which is the essence of blackberry liquor. very tannic and will age well. it is displaying some of the dusty character that I have noticed in other 2006 northern rhones.

Merci Franz. 91

Intense fig and mocha, graphite. A blockbuster full-bodied mouthfeel with beautiful tannins and a lovely finish.

Guigal masterclass with Christopher Canan (Regional wines and spirits, Wellington): After the more feminine and finessed La Mouline's, this wine came across as very masculine. Big plummy nose with a hint of coffee. Very big wine, full bodied with good length.
