Deep red. Very subtle nose; raspberry and earthiness. Some alcohol on the nose right when the bottle is opened. Mouthfeel on the thinner side with a nice balance of tannin. Still could sit in the bottle if you are sitting on it.

Dark and savory with some furry tannins still in evidence. A core of dark fruit underlies all. Medium bodied with good acidity, this wine has years ahead of it yet.

Didn’t take a note, but this was very nice, with a lot of brambly berry fruit, some plummy fruit and meaty notes, plus cool herbal flavors, including something spearmint-like. No rush to drink if you’re sitting on these.

Classic Rhone notes of bacon, olives, game. The fruits and tannins are a bit muted in this particular bottle- I remember this being more vibrant a couple of years ago.

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs -nearly opaque dark red purple no bricking -moderately expressive high-toned cool dark berry mineral and a touch of oak -higher acidity, med- weight and concentration sour dominant earthy peppery berry med/med+ gritty tannins -lots of structure here still

Decanted about 2 1/2 hours. Herbal and smoky on the nose, with tart dark fruit underneath. Olives and game meat follow, adding a deep richness to everything. Much the same on the palate, but the olive and meat flavors are more pronounced. It still has quite a tannic grip, so it probable needs more air and/or bottle age to smooth it all out. Still, I did enjoy it.

A decade on and still delightful. Didn’t seem to be in decline. To those who claim this wine drops its fruit early: you are mistaken. 12.5%
