Enjoyable Ribera del Duero with some cherry liquor, leather and raspberries. Good drinking right now and not over the top. Missing some complexity but goes well with a pork roast.

In a really interesting place right now - I'm going to say it's past its peak, a little toward "leathery old wine," but if that's the cost, the benefit is a very complete and silky integration - 14% alcohol and you wouldn't know it, a nose that (oddly enough) says "Pinot Noir" to me, the palate still has an acidic backbone, there's a nice progression of subtle cherry-strawberry-red raspberry fruit flavors and some reticent and superfine tannins eventually coming in. Perhaps pure Tinto Fino/Tempranillo is a fragile thing, but this bottle is still hanging together nicely now.
I don't remember buying it, nor why or how much I paid. It's a relatively modest "Denominacion de origen" wine, which is like the Italian DOC and the French AOC. I think, however, that the same principle with some villages-level Burgundy wines applies - that well-made wine, often with sufficient age on it, can be surprisingly good.

The wine looks inky colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like raspberry, red currant and black pepper. It tastes like blackberry, red currant, strawberry jam and black pepper. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Served with grilled rib eye steak. Very good Ribera del Duero. Red fruit, Raspberries, cassis, leather, mild soft tannins in the medium finish. Look forward to drinking over the next 6-8 years.

Similar to my previous comment, I found this wine very flat. Hints of dark fruit, leather and mild tannin were there, but had to concentrate to even detect that. Many of the comments here describe a totally different wine (the other low scores sound familiar). I think the bottles I had were flawed, perhaps overheated during transport. For the record, mine had the colorful label and were imported by Henry Wine Group.

Delicious black cherry, leather, earth and mineral flavors, nicely balanced. Good finish. Thoroughly enjoyable with grilled pork medalions in a red sauce of adobe chili at Los Napoles in Chicago. At its peak, but there is still plenty of time to go.

Medium ruby color with magenta at the rim. Started out equal parts fruit and oak on the nose, with tertiary flavors of spice starting to emerge after a few hours. Unfortunately the palate never really kept pace. This was a little fruity in the mouth and that's pretty much where it ended. Tannins totally receded, with only a faded ghost of whatever structure this previously had. Fine to wash down tapas, but didn't do anything to pique my interest.

Sweet leather, smoke, macerated cherry; soft, fruit forward, French and American oak; supple with an easy entry and a touch of licorice with tart red fruits and a touch of burned brown sugar. Very yummy. From the maker of the famed Malleolus bottling. Maybe 91.

Red fruit, pepper, and vanilla nose. Palate had red and black fruit with vanilla. Lots of oak. There are two different labels for the '07. One is basic black and white. The other is more colorful. This was the colorful label. They claim it is all the same. I'd buy this label again.

Very disappointing; there was a very mild bouquet of cedar and dark cherry, but otherwise almost nothing on the nose. Palate was bland, other than medium tannin. Even after triple decanting and some time, it didn't open up. Perhaps this bottle was flawed in some way?

A nose of black raspberry and cherry, dark ruby in color. Medium to full bodied with black raspberry and cassis, some oak and smoke. Good but not as good as the last couple vintages, a good value.

Wonderfully rewarding nose; big jammy explosion of dark cherries, vanilla cream (oh the wonders of new oak in this puppydog) and a smorgasborg of white chocolate. Unfortunately the powerful nose was followed by a flighty wine that could not duplicate the heights achieved. The vanillas from the oak were enticing and the fruit was enjoyable, but it seemed so hollow in comparison to other vintages of this same wine. Fortunately, after three days in bottle the little that remained did flesh out in the glass and the tannins came more to the fore to fight back the vanilla and fruit. If I had to rate it for the initial impression I would have gone with an 87. Put it down for at least two years and see if the body gains some weight while it's sleeping.

Dark cherry color, good fruit on the nose, acidity on the high side for Ribera at this level. Long finish. Paired well with cold cut meats and a couple of cheeses. Opened and drank within two hours, next time will decant for a couple hours. At $20, ok QPR, a good buy for less, might not be worth more.

Dark ruby color. Black cherry, black currant, black raspberry, cocoa powder on the nose. Tastes include more of the black fruits and chocolate with nicely balanced tannins and acidity. Nice long finish going through the black fruits, and dark chocolate. It's softer and fleshier than the Rioja wines and should age well. Great to sip alone.

Medium dark cherry red with fast legs. Bright nose with oak, cherry, a touch of green twigs. A nice start on the palate with a bit of oak and some green vegetable. Some tart cherry (like canned pie filling). Tannins in the middle-end that are a bit too strong at the moment, but may mellow with further aging. Should be improved in a few years. Not much finish. Notes from being open ~2h.

Expressive nose of cherry & oak. Light in the mouth for a Ribera del Duero but acidity and tanins are there and point towards the bottle needing a year or two more and being able to last a while longer afterwards. Very enjoyable with a medium finish. 24 hours later the wine is better still. Great QPR at $25, at least for Quebec where everything is over priced ! A case of this would do any cellar some good.
