On a warm summer day, with rainier cherries, bugles and cold water.
The cork was super dark, inky, with intense blueberry and a little wet forest floor. Wine also super deep ink, with just the beginning that the wine is turning to a more brown/rust. The nose is very much like the cork with super ripe, sweet peak of season blueberries, and a little freshly rained forest floor. Kind of baking blueberry pie smell.
The taste is intense, there is a little bit of dark berries, but it doesn’t have the sweetness the smell suggests. A very dry front, with dark fruit, cigar, and a bit of cedar. On the back some of that dark fruit expresses itself, followed by a little spice on the throat. Kind of old world.
After 3 days in vacuvin, the flavors really changed. The wine opened up, those blueberry notes expressing themselves and the austere old world has been replace by sweet juice with a sharp back.
This wine could age longer, but it’s my last bottle. Pretty darn good for $24 Costco mass market bottle.

Jan & I are trying to go through our wines past their drinking age. After pouring out several wines that were past their prime, we decided to try one " just out of it's prime". This is just a little past the drinking age and it has held up well. and was actually very good. It had a very deep purple color with dark fruits on the nose and palate. It still had good tannins and a nice finish. Medium bodied with medium finish. It did have an abundance of sediment so I had to decant it.

Color: Deep Purple Nose: Dark fruits, cassis and berries with hints of oak Palate: Well balanced tannins and very smooth Finish: Medium bodied with medium to long finish Decanting: Popped and pored Thoughts: We let this bottle sit in our cellar and it has held up well. A discussion we had with winemaker Bob Bertheau, he said this wine is not intended to be cellared for long periods of time such other wines they make. With that piece of information we will not let the wine sit much longer and start consuming it. It is very good Cabernet Sauvignon that we will keep in our cellar as a every day drinker.

Popped and poured. Drank over 3 evenings. Held up well the whole time. I tried a bottle of this when it was released and was disappointed. 3+ years of cellar time has improved it quite a bit. The oak initially overwhelmed but burned off revealing deep dark fruit and meaty notes. The wife did not like it on the 3rd evening but I did and no oxidation had even developed.

Wonderful cabernet sauvignon for the price. Ripe dark berries in the nose, smooth mouth feel, mature berries over the palate that lingers in the finish with moderate tannins. Very easy drinking, ready now, could age a few more years.

Splash decant. Aroma of dark fruit and spices. Fairly extracted but liked the balance. Black Cherry and Blackberry heavy with reserved tannin and acidity. Hint of spice. Long, long finish of black cherry and spices. What's not to like for $13.50?

This is nothing more than alcoholic grape juice. Regrettably I purchased this based on WS recommendation. This has basic black fruit aroma (albeit limited) with a linear palate experience that is straight, one dimensional, and without complexity. Drink this up as there is a total lack of acidity or tannic backbone to give this any additional length.

I think this one has faded. The fruit has decreased and comes across somewhat sour. Maybe a bad bottle or maybe needs a little more air time. Revised...better after a few days. The sourness has gone and the wine is much more approachable. At this point I would raise my score to a 89 and consider buying more for a daily drinker.

Decent, if not very exciting. Color fairly dark, not much on the nose. Quite a bit of oak on the palate, but also some dark fruit and soft tannins. Moderate finish. This wine is nicely balanced, but lacks stuffing and charm. Don't see this improving with further cellaring. Expected better.

A beautiful cab for the buck. Other reviews are pretty tough on the wine, but let it open for an hour and some ripe fruit and earth comes through on a medium body Cabernet. Drank a bottle with hurricane Irene bearing down over broiled sirloin cheeseburgers, roasted potatoes piqued by mustard seeds and a garden salad caprese. The wine held up and complemented everything. A great food wine for the dollar, which can sit for another couple years and develop a bit more.

In the US, sometimes unfortunately, a wine can be labeled by varietal if it contains at east 75% of that variteal. At 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine, of course qualifies. But the next largest contributor, at 16%, is Syrah which is not a tradtional Bordeaux varietal. I love Cab and I love Syrah, but unlike the Aussies and the team at Ste Michelle, I do not like them together. This wine is too big and shows too much fruit, if that is possible, to really feel and taste like a Cabernet Sauvignon. Washington State is capable of and produces better bottlings than this one.

Here's what you do with this wine. Go to Costco and grab a bunch at $14. Pop and pour. Serve it at a dinner with guests who may not be wine aficionados. Sit back and watch everyone go crazy over how tasty, fruity, and sweet this wine is. And because of the body and decent finish, they won't think you served some under $10 grocery brand. No, I will not age this wine and I will not ponder its complexities. But I will enjoy the heck out of it.

Impressive at this price. Fine but somewhat bitter tannins close out the dark cherry body. Layered underneath are notes of oak and vanilla and a ghost of cinnamon and clove. There's a floral element to the nose, which seems a bit artificial, but is nonetheless beguiling.

Excellent! 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Syrah, 1% Malbec, 1% Merlot. Dark purple color. Dark cherry and oak nose. Dark cherry, chocolate, and vanilla oak flavors with a dusty earthiness on the medium-full bodied palate. Medium-long finish. Excellent layering. Ready to drink now, but with room to improve over the next few years. As with most of the Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Indian Wells labels, this wine offers an impressive QPR.

Popped and poured for an evaluation to see if I wanted to buy more. Didn't drink with food. Dark purple in color. Very powerful nose. Sweet black cherry pie filling. It opened up pretty rough around the edges but quickly came together. Notes of vanilla underneath the tannins which I love. Super smooth in the first hour. I wonder if it should have a touch more acidity. Always good QPR, I think this wine has some good years in front of it. 89 today. Will drink the rest of the bottle tomorrow night. This wine should pick up a few more points at its peak down the road.

For some reason, did not enjoy this as much but still think it is good value. Acidity seemed a bit out of control and when combined with the fact that it's a bit boring (other than the acidity), it didn't really hit the spot this time.

Very good value and happy to have more. A lot of fruit... that's the style and I like that sometimes but often find it a bit boring after the first few sips. Otherwise, good ballance and likely a new-world crown pleaser.

CsM Indian Wells is back with this offering. Fruit forward partnered with moderate oak make for a nice, easy drinker that does not break the bank. Some may not like the initial sweetness of the wine but this decreases as the wine breaths and integrates. I will buy more.

Very fruity nose with a strong vanilla profile.Mouth feel has a very nice pucker factor with failry strong oak. On the palate getting black currant, oak and vanilla. This is a very fruit forward wine with a sweetness to it. No subtleness here, more a new world approach to wine. Having said all that, not a bad wine for the price, is still a youngster.

Excellent wine for $12 and it is still so young. I am buying a case and aging most of it to see how much better it gets.

Pretty disappointing. I liked the Indian Wells merlot, but this was an over-oaked mess of cherry and alcohol.

Big dark ripe somewhat chewy CS. I initially rated it 90 but slacked off a bit over time. There was something a bit off for me but I couldn't pin it down.

Dense purple hue. Nose is fairly aromatic with scents of violets, cassis and primary dark fruit. The flavors follow on the big palate. Nice chocolate, cassis driven Cabernet Saunignon. Really fruity / lush.

dark in color, dark red and black fruit aromas and flavors, oak. very ripe wine, moderate chewy tannins, short finish. Too ripe for my tastes but it seems to be well put together, although a bit extracted.

This is an easy drinking Cab that has some fine tannins and does not hit you over the head with too much fruit or oak. Had a pleasing mint flavor in there that was really nice. Overall a really nice Cab for the money.
